Hey Doc, thanks for the information! Seems the ENVO mask isn't offered on Amazon any more. Your link only opens to the Amazon Main page, and no ENVO masks are found in search.
I work on a mobile medical unit and these days we have been designated by the county to do covid testing, we do between 120-200 tests daily , we were using the same M3 duck masks and had the same problems you had. After watching your video I bought this mask and it has made such a difference!!! Night n day! No more bruises and lines on my face either, a bit pricey but worth every penny! I use a UV light to disinfect it at the end of the day and use cavi wipes to clean the plastic parts whenever needed. Thank you for introducing me to it
I’ve been using this mask for a bit and like it, however I would say that in a healthcare setting you need to wear a surgical mask over it as well, as it has an exhalation valve. It plus the n95 filter protects the wearer from inhalation particles, but on the exhalation the valve opens, allowing unfiltered air out, which helps no one else.
A square of duct tape over the valve adheres very well and shuts it down. The impact on breathing is hardly noticeable. But I don't wear it for hours on end (I'm not a medic), that might allow moisture to build up and compromise the tape. But there are also tapes that can endure moisture.
I don't understand the logic of this. Surgical masks are not sealed and are vented 360 degrees. The vent in this mask is a silicone flap that opens about a 1mm when you exhale. A medical masks has a huge gap all the way around it. Obviously the surgical mask allows more germs to escape then a vented N95, yet they're considered safer for others:/
Yup, my thoughts exactly. Just not-clinical administrators in high places making the rules. Thems the rules though, and I prefer to continue getting a paycheck haha. The company does now make a cover for the hole front of the mask, which may be in response to this. I still just put a surgical mask over it to keep everyone happy.
I did not, still just using a surgical mask over it. They made a new “halo” type strap to more comfortably have it secure on the back of your head - the standard hooks start to hurt a bit after a few hours, so I’m interested in that.
Hi doc. Thanks for sharing this. Btw...there is a draw button on the cord that rests on your neck that you press and pull on to adjust proper fit of ear hooks. That is the safest way to wear one. I have one. My dr felt he needed to protect key staff members so he invested in these. They are great.
I got mine after watching your video and I am very pleased. Much more comfortable and fits much better around my face to make a tight seal. Thank You for your great advice.
I have been using this mask for two years now, I’m on my second mask. I use it at work, day in and day out. The first mask lasted almost a year and the gel portion separated from the mask, so I had to order a new one. Be very careful when replacing the filter as not to break the plastic connections. It’s been a great mask and very comfortable to wear eight hours a day, and like other say it’s best to cover it with another surgical mask for optimal protection.
I just ordered one for my son who does Critical Care Transport, and a neighbor had me buy one from her for my son to share with a co-worker. Thank you! Stay safe 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼❤️
I just bought one of these and it is SOOOO much more comfortable then typical N95 masks! I am a paramedic and a nurse and was having to wear N95 for hours at a time to do COVID testing, and my nose was getting so sore, and this is such a relief! .
Very nice of you Sam, bless your heart. A a medical profession I can tell you from experience wearing a typical N95 is very painful after the first 15 minutes, but this mask is far more tolerable! The people you buy this for will be very grateful!
Thank you for your video! Please be safe! My boyfriend and I have Envomasks and realized we need to wear a cloth or other mask over it to protect others. Love the idea of clipping the ear pieces on top of the head! With glasses, it’s not super comfortable to have both on!
Thanks for showing us what the people on the front lines are going through. Thank you for what you do. I am retired Air Force and had to wear gas masks and this reminds me of that. We were told to clean with white vinegar. I know you can’t do that with type of mask.
Two new things Envo sells: Vent Plug 25 Pack Per website "The vent on the envo mask may be plugged by using this piece. Eliminating airflow through the vent." Envomask Shield Per website "The shield protects the filter. Air still flows through the vent whether or not a shield is installed which is why you may want to plug the vent in some situations." In my opinion the shield is pointless. You're better off just using your hospital issued face shield along with plugging the vent. (I'm considering buying one so I gathered this information and thought I should share. I'll be copying and pasting on a few videos.)
You can buy the filters on their page if you click on the link to buy the mask then scroll down to the bottom of the page then it says see whole catalog and you can buy filters, additional straps etc.
i bought one, i have to say the seal is good, and i've tried a lot of masks (airhead, stealth, lg puricare, canopy etc) and this is the first one that actually had a good seal on me. the breathability is great too. i have some complaints though: - because of it's small size i don't find it comfortable, it sits on my chin and my nose touches the inside plastic "bracing". they need a bigger size - the straps are too firm (not enough elasticity), so you have to tighten them up to get a good fit and then you start getting headaches from the tight straps - the straps aren't individually adjustable (the neck strap should be separate than head strap so you can tighten each one as needed, not one long thread that both tighten together) - the mask looks idiotic, mainly because it's a 1/4 mask instead of a 1/2 mask. they need to make a half mask model that seals under the chin. it's really embarrassing wearing one so i just wear a surgical mask over the top of it to hide it. - the filters don't look like they are 4 layers to me, they are paper thin, i cut one up and i cant see 4 separate layers.......maybe i am wrong
Top clip on the Filter holder broke easily, and replacement is not under warranty..... be ready to spend extra money on those replacement filter holder.... ~!!!!!!
My concerns about this product is the one-way valve. This mask protect the wearer but does it protect the patient? The filter does not cover the valve so it's unfiltered air getting exhaled. Also, in the healthcare setting cleaning in a basin of soapy water is not going to work. We spoke with the Envo rep and he recommended a 70% alcohol solution or a 1-10 bleach solution. You have to be careful with these products that you are not inadvertently passing along COVID to yourselves. Also reusing the filters for Envo has not been approved so they are one and done, especially after aerosol generating procedures. To work around the valve, staff at our facility have been wearing a procedure mask over the Envo mask. Please think it through before recommending this to staff and make sure everyone has safe workflows in place when using this. Thanks!
Amanda and William Bogertman Yes, exactly. Any mask, including this one, with a valve requires a surgical mask on top in order to protect others from your own exhaled breath. Otherwise it’s like you’re not wearing one at all for other people.
Amanda you have to consider the source of the information you’re getting ( the rep that works FOR envo) it is not in their interest to tell you they’re filters are reusable. Hint hint $$$$. I respectfully disagree with you. I do however agree with the idea of having a procedure mask over the envo mask. It has worked great for me and all my colleagues . - ED nurse from Texas
You're absolutely correct, any healthcare worker using this mask is knowingly or unknowingly exposing their own potential pathogens to their patients due to the air release valve found on the bottom center of the mask. Any doctor or healthcare professional who uses this in a medical setting is extremely irresponsible. This product is intended for tradesmen to protect themselves from work hazards, not medical personnel.
*"This video is intended for medical health professionals, the general public does NOT need on of these masks. In fact, you buying one is depriving a health professional from potentially life saving equipment."*
What about grocery store workers, a lot of store workers in my city are catching covid and my company isn’t doing much to protect us, is there an alternative to the ppe that the doc is showing?
I disagree. Everyone has the right to be protected, not just health workers. Those cloth masks don’t give me any protection at all. CDC should not be telling everyone not to have N95 masks.
Been watching you for awhile now. You really an amazing doctor 💜 I want to go back to school to finish my nursing degree thanks to you. Sorry the mask is uncomfortable 😔
Dr. C..thank you for your review! I am forever grateful for the time you have provided upon our workforce. Although I find the envo to pricey for me to purchase, I support you and give my utmost gratitude for all the information and approaches you have shared. Keep on doing what you’re doing!❤️❤️❤️
When you consider a disposable N95 costs $10 or more right now and we need one per day, spending $80 on the frame & $2.50 on filters saves us money after 2.5 weeks.
I pray for you and all the people on the front lines. Please update us. I am in Smyrna and I am finding that our state should have reacted a lot faster to this. I am worried
Even for the user those valves are dangerous because they cannot magically close instantaneously. You would have to believe that it is possible that a few particles could slip through each inhalation. Not to mention there's no way for the user to know that their valve completely seals once it IS closed. Please get rid of them!
Wonder if Envo knows about this? Wish I had. Just ordered their new head harness strap and can’t figure it out to attach it. As you stated, the ear harness hurts, if you use their method. So that’s why I ordered their head harness after using the ear harness Your method is brilliant. Just tried it. I’m all set! Will try the head harness later once I figure it out.
For non medical folks check out my comment below. The reusable masks with disposable filters are what I would recommend for ANYONE who has to work out in the public, and I am a health care worker . but everyone needs to be able to be safe in this epidemic! Of course the best way to stay safe is to still stay home, but for all of u out there making sure I still have food to put on my baby's plates, Thank you! Stay safe and protect YOUSELVES!
on mine , the small tab on the top of the filter bracket is showing stress cracks....putting filter in requires a fair amount of force. you can buy this for 12$ us for a spare.
Thanks for the work. 👌🏻👌🏻. How does the general public NOT need it if the regular masks are just protecting those around me and not protecting myself? Not everyone, unfortunately, wears a mask aka I’m being exposed food shopping, etc.
looks great, but dang. $80 means really only makes sense for the pros like you. sucks that they can't just buy these for all doctors and nurses, we spend so much money on cops and tear gas, lol BUY THESE FOR DOCS, NURSES, HOSPITAL STAFF!
many of us are ending up being responsible for our own PPE, because the hospitals' standards are minimalist, based on their looming shortages and economic considerations, and are inadequate. Many of us medical professionals know better. We are dealing with a highly contagious virus that is probably airborne, until proven otherwise, and transmitted by asymptomatic people. I almost don't even care about being reimbursed, i just want to be able to do my job safely. I agree that it is messed up that the hospitals' "standards" are driven by $$ and liability mitigation, as opposed to looking out for the safety of their employees (and patients! since the hospital can end up being a huge nidus of infection if the healthcare workers are infected).
Depends on the hospital. Some have recognized that they cant keep up their supply and have allowed staff to source their own and i know my hospital is NOT reimbursing ANYTHING for it.
I bought two of these. I did not get it for free in exchange for a review. I was excited about them. But the filters are difficult to replace. It seems there is a fit issue. I tried calling and emailing but no response.
How many usages do you think you can get with the filters when used in aerosolized procedures? I'm a dental hygienist, so all of my procedures involve aerosols. I would use a surgical three mask and face shield over as well.
A company that makes CPAP should have the comfort part down. When one gets to the page there is a menu at the top left. Touch or click. Select “Shop” and when one gets to to the respirator kit there is a selection on that page for “click here to see all envomask products”
I just ordered one and I am excited to get it. My only concern is that it might not pass a fit test. I think a lot of people ordering these are wearing them without actually having a fit test at the hospital. I have seen a few comments on Facebook and RU-vid about it not passing a fit test. I’m almost afraid if I go to occupational health and ask them to do a fit test on it they may catch on that so many people are wearing them and ban people from wearing them. However I want to know if I have a good fit. Has anyone else had issues with it not passing a fit test?
Thank you for your service on the front line and for this video. I have a question. If I use the mask once a week or less can I put the entire mask into a paper bag between uses?
I’d do that with the filter but wash and air dry the respirator frame itself if it’s that long between uses. The filter is good for up to 8 hours of use.
It is an exhalation valve. So if you are wearing it to protect yourself an others from viruses & bacteria, you need to wear something over top. What you breathe in is filtered but what you breathe out is not so you put those around you at risk.
I use this mask when shopping and love it. I place a cloth mask over it to protect others from the exhalation valve. Iv'e seen a study that examined if the values compromise the user's protection, and they don't.
You can also take a towel soaked in vinegar n water to clean and disinfectant those puffy pillows around the mask. I use for my CPAP mask and no problems. I soak my mask and tubes in vinegar daily.
Back in the 70s and 80s we had the disposable masks that we tied behind our heads for isolation cases. They are hot and it is difficult to breathe through them. Stay well everyone.
This product does not appear to available on Amazon right now, nor are replacement filters available on Amazon. The Envo website does not have replacement filter either. Unless a buyer can find a source for the filters, the mask be unusable after the kit is depleted.
Is this a good mask? I'm a nurse and the regular n95 are extremely uncomfortable for me. I need something I can wear for 12 hours a day without constantly feeling smothered
Dr. Carlo ❤️. Many prayers for you everyday. We just lost a baby here in the heartland from Covid 19. Please check out Nine Line Apparels new boxes of masks! They are designed by Special Ops military Owners of this company.
Get in touch with @betheny on Twitter. She is working with lots of manufacturers to get hospitals PPE they need. She has already sent hundreds of thousands of masks to hospitals all over the US.
Wish i had one of Those with my brain tumors. I have no family near me so I HAVE TO LEAVE TO THE STORES. I Cry every day. I’m the only parent left for my handicap son and this virus knows no one. It has no mercy. Panic attacks are so bad I can barely function. I have the old tie behind medical masks but with asthma on top of everything I can’t breath through it. 😭😭😭😭
