Probably has it's place for some musicians, however, I had a carbon fiber cello for a week. Was impressed with the sound ( at first). The more I played it , the more I couldn't stand the sound. Sent it back and bought a nice o'l fashion wood (Eastman) Cello which I still have today and sounds better than ever. IMO, the all HPL guitars that C.F. Martin offers sound, look and play much better for around the same $$. Nice review ! 🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸

Actually, depending on the kind of damage, carbon fiber is not necessarily that hard to repair. Issue there is you wouldn't be able to match the finish, but anyone used to work with composites would definitely be able to patch up an unwanted hole. Then you could either rock the patched up look, or just elect to paint it.

I HAVE an early Ovation. Model 1111-1. Still in great shape. I loved my x4 Enya until the “durable” carbon fiber back started cracking. I reached out to Enya, sent photos, and they said I must’ve banged it, but mine has always been stored in the case. They suggested putting a sticker over the cracks. I’m afraid the cracks are spreading.

That is poor customer service. How long did you have it before it cracked? Go back to them again. The squeaky wheel gets the grease. Post your experience on all their social media. Maybe others have had the same experience and will chime in and it will get dealt with. Don't give up!

@@lisalilge9765 Had It 8 months, 3 of which I was gone and it just sat in the case. Fortunately I paid the $75 to Amazon (Assurence I think it’s called),that covers drops and falls (which it didn’t), and I got the original $599 back, so I’m out that $75, and another $75 I paid to have it set up professionally. The insurance company had me send to Middle Coast Guitars, near Chicago, and they determined it couldn’t be repaired. I really liked the Enya, but in the end didn’t want to risk it happening again, given the customer service, so I’m just enjoying my 40+ year old Ovation that doesn’t have a ding or scratch. 🤷🏼‍♂️

Will the Efects work if you put Nylon Strings on instead of metal? Does it have a built in Tuner? Is there a Balance Control for Bass and Treble, please?

It is a very nice guitar, actually as you point out it is elegant, quite tasteful to me. I appreciate Enya's high tech approach in using carbon fibre. Personally I use a carbon fibre road bike, it is light and very durable, far superior to aluminum and steel or any other composites. Even archers have long ago discovered the benefits of carbon fibre arrows which are far superior to everything else we used. In terms of repairs it would be a challenge but do keep in mind carbon fibre is far stronger than traditional wood. If carbon fibre is subjected to enough impact to cause damage an equivalent wood guitar would be irreparably destroyed. Carbon fibre is very strong. This is a very nice instrument, one I certainly will consider trying out.

Do they make the x4 pro mini with a cutaway to get to the bottom frets and are the frets stainless steel??

Its not a bad sound its cool but eventuall the wood sound is what you gonna want ...maybe a play around guitar for a bit but that tone will get old fast i belive great review Tony

P. S. I heard that, except the genuine carbon fibre soundboard, the rest of the guitar is made with a carbon composite, not just a generic "plastic" material. Bye folks. 👋🏻

When you order this guitar it doesn't actually come with the case that you're looking at. It is a smooth hard case. I bought one and sent it back because it misrepresented what they were selling. The guitar was great though

Cf guitars are fine if you're playing a lot of shows and want something durable, but I would never think to have one to record with or something to play around the house

Im just not a fan of the sound. I never played an Enya guitar, but the CF guitars I have demo'd, I haven't liked the tone. I also dislike the neck profiles on these types of guitars. I prefer a beefier neck than most people. All personal preferences of course. What isn't a personal preference, and its something you should really emphasize with CF guitars is, even though they're way more durable than your average wood guitar, that doesnt mean things wont go wrong. And when it does... good luck finding someone to fix it. Most luthiers want nothing to do with CF guitars.

A good review. There is a mistake when you said the guitar is molded in one piece. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-dvyN1epgLYE.htmlfeature=shared&t=723 The neck is actually a separate piece and is bolted to the body of the guitar. If you look inside the sound port, you can see the two bolts. This is important as many of these minis are sent out with the bolts (very slightly) loose. It is a good idea to snug them down (with a 4mm Allen wrench) when you receive the instrument as it will tighten up the neck angle (often slightly lowering it) and will increase the sustain (often quite a bit). Still, a good review.👍
