EoSD Remilia's Theme: Septette for the Dead Princess (Re-Extended)

I love how literally every single Touhou theme is awesome. Bad music doesn't exist in Touhou.

When people talk about Remilia's ability to manipulate fate, they usually mean an ability to manipulate destiny or outcomes. While vague, a few fans have used this to create a theory that says she uses this ability to keep Sakuya tied to her as her maid (against Sakuya's will). However, it is unknown whether Remilia actually uses this power consciously or subconsciously, as she could use it to easily win a duel, but still lost to Reimu in EoSD.

Remilia has a very beautifully composed theme IMO.

This theme brings back all the nostalgia. Despite how aged EoSD is, I still love playing it. After all it's the one that started my Touhou career. And Remi's theme is still one of my favorites.

This is like, the purest final boss theme you could ever listen to. Like, you just hear this and immediately think, "Yep. Final boss."

Even though some may call it "old" or "out-dated", I still think this is one of the greatest songs in the series!

The sad thing about remilia, is that her ability to control fate was never really expanded upon(atleast to my knowledge). That dosen't stop her from being kick-ass, though.

I got this game 2 days ago. Played on normal mode. Usually got murdered by Sakuya at the end of stage 5. Yesterday night I made it past stage 5 and the Sakuya miniboss on stage 6. I fought Remilia for the first time, at first I was overwhelmed but slowly got into it. And I was just about to win when I was out of bombs. Haven't been able to get to stage 6 since.

For a girl, Remilia sure has lots of balls. Both in the fashion of that she fights reimu or marisa head on and in the fashion of the fact that she shoots balls, lots of big balls.

Easily my favourite theme in EoSD. Climactic and slightly intimidating. As it should be.

Nostalgia~ Honestly, one of the few reasons I go back to EoSD is the music. EoSD is full of so many bugs, and is practically unplayable as a result of newer games retaining the same hitboxes. It's unfortunate though; this was my first Touhou game and I'm damn well proud of how far I could manage to get without seeing my hitbox and retaining a conversation.

I can't believe how many different versions of this song with lyrics Japanese people have managed to make.

I must have heard literally dozens of arranges and remixes of this theme over the years, but I have yet to find one that I prefer over the original. They always feel kinda... neutered. Like this theme has such a bite to it, but everyone always softens it up, even in the cases where I'm pretty sure that's the opposite of what they were aiming for.

This was one of the first songs I knew when I discovered touhou (I haven't played any of the games at that time), and I always thought that the title of this song was extremely fitting for some reason. This song always gave me a royalty/monarchy vibe for some reason

Finally, the FINAL BOSS theme. 1:21 is probably the BEST SECTION of this music! The amount of ENERGY and DETERMINATION this part filled me as I was avoiding all the absolute BS Remilia was throwing at me is UNEXPLAINABLE. My mind would definitely be blown if I was listening to this blind! Plus, It’s a crime that I haven’t even mentioned those synthesized trumpets yet (yes, they’re computed generated, not real trumpets, haha)… They sound AMAZING and basically give character to all these themes! Very good theme overall! :O Thumbnail goes kind of hard, btw

I was watching a video for some famous classical songs and heard something that has the same sound to it, it was Beethoven’s piano sonata no. 8 “Pathetique”. I looked it up and this song is based off of the opening of the sonata.

I love how this theme is like a calm dance. The fight is almost never really that insane. Your mostly just concentrating on dodging bullets and staying safe.

Listening to this music while there is a lunar eclipse

How I see it: At the start of the song, a simple life that was destined to be taken for granted. After the main verse began, a tragic event unfolds where the housemaid witnessed the rites performed by the children destined to be the eternal Scarlet Sisters. The pre chorus details the folly of man attempting to quell the darkness with all they brought, but to no avail as the chorus and crescendo pictures the older sister, scorning her family bloodline, embracing the role fate gave her as she rose from the tragedy in a reluctant but necessary show of force to display to the world that the fated Scarlet Devils have returned. Despite the calling being answered, the older sister vowed to be left alone with her younger sister regardless of how many bodies shall be made in a effort man spent in vain. "So, you must be the Scarlet Devil?" "Are you another bothersome thorn that must be whittled from my garden?" "Time to find out who's that thorn, and whom deserves peace." "Then let me be your last dance partner..."

the more time passes the more i appreciate this theme. It's so elegant and threatening at the same time.

ZUN composes this tracks while being drunk, but...can he play them while drunk?!!?! Well, he can surely 1cc every touhou on lunatic, obviously yes.

She doesn't tell you directly and only hint during the game, but she is a vampire. She blanketed Gensokyo with a magic mist in order to cut off the sunlight. Although she has been alive for 500 years, her personality is that of a selfish child. She is respected by most youkai, but her charisma doesn't stem from her personality; rather, it comes from the fear that they have for her kind. She has one younger sister; nothing else is known about her family. She is a light eater. In other words, she can drink only a little blood at a time and must leave the rest behind, so the humans off of whom she feeds become a bit anemic, but usually stay alive. Due to that fact, she always fails to increase the number of her kind. She often spills more blood than she consumes. The spilled blood dyes her dress a deep scarlet, which is what gives rise to her title, the "Scarlet Devil". She swears that she is a descendant of Tepes, but nobody is certain whether she is truly related to the Vlad "Dracula" Tepes. Well, in fact, she is not. Total of ten card attacks. ZUN's comment about the character: ""Vampire as the last boss is one of the best tropes in video games, no way this suddenly won't work in a bullet hell!" That's what I thought when I started making the game. Now I think of it, that superhuman toughness and vampiric ability are only suited for roleplaying games. Making bullet patterns for vampires ended up very difficult. I assigned the badass role to Sakuya, the human character, then let Remilia take the role of a selfish noble princess. I soon realized that this has made Remilia no different than an average human, so I gave her a huge pair of bat wings to compensate. But the more I looked at it the more it felt like Bahamut from Final Fantasy (lol)" ZUN's comment about the track: "Remilia Scarlet's theme. With this, I tried for a "This is the end!" feeling. I didn't want it to be regal or ominous, which is normal for a final stage, so I made it Jazz-Fusion based with a hint of loli... wait, that's not any different than normal. Its melody is easy for even me to get, so I like this song."

Hardest boss ever in Lunatic.

For me, having heard all this music before, yet having just RECENTLY started playing this game, I use these standout tunes as a mental checklist for when I finally reach the certain points that I couldn't reach beforehand, so that hearing them can have a new feeling. Basically, the musical way to say "Shit dude... you on edge..." Tangent aside, this song is awesome.

I tried to do my first normal 1cc of this game. I fought this stage with two lives and no knowledge of how the boss fight works. You can probably guess what happened.

Last year there was a blood moon I saw and the first thing I thought was Remilia.

Remilia Scarlet is not only the hardest boss I've ever fought... she has the most amazing bullethell boss theme I've ever heard. My eardrums pretty much went numb at 1:21. Best epic part of a final boss theme ever! Also, honest to God, I'm in love with the Mistress of Scarlet Mansion herself. Such a regal beauty... I wish she were real... *Edit:* Vampire from Battle Bakraid is now the hardest boss I've ever fought. But I still love Remi with all my heart!

This is my favorite Touhou theme period. In-game its is simply majestic and over the past decade numerous circles have made amazing arrangements _far_ too expansive to list, but my top five comes from Silver Forest, C-Clays, Demetori, Neutral and Tumeneco. (can you guess what they are?)
