Memories aren't the item themselves. Previously, I hadn't listened carefully enough. I didn't notice that your realization was the waiting day for the U-haul and the storage locker. Also, this list is awesome: Tolerate, Accept, Respect and Apreciate. What also stood by me was: People ask for help when they are ready, not when you are ready. Set the good example.

Good lord...I saw that my own space was like the apartment of your mothers. I am no longer stuck in that cycle. It is so wonderful that you are doing this episode. It is exactly relevant to what I am going through and trying to explain to my family as I go through the process of purging the majority of my "stuff". :)

You can always gift sentimental family heirlooms to nieces, nephews and other family members. Share and spread those items around so no one person is responsible for a bunch items. My daughter is an only child and instead of giving her a handful of family heirlooms, I let her pick a couple of pieces she loves and gave the rest to my nephews and nieces. I am fine if the other family members decide to keep the heirloom, pass it on or take it to charity. I make sure there is no pressure to hang on to it, if they don't want it.

The Minimalists have helped get rid of a box of pictures. Never would have thought of this type of de- cluttering. Why keep pictures of people not in your life anymore? Thank you Josh and Ryan!

I listened to your podcast this morning as I was a bit emotional (about life) and it helped me get out of the state I was in. Thank you! Listening to your podcast really does wonders for my mood...

my biggest dilemna is getting rid of gifts. I'm worried that my friends will get offended if I get rid of something that, while there was sweetness behind it, literally sits in a couple boxes in my closet.

Yes I am very impulsive and I need to return to my meditating. It's an everyday process and there are days I have setbacks and victories. I'll keep on going, your page and many others have encouraged me to blog.

I have a different take on using a storage unit. We’ve been able to live in a one bedroom apartment this way. It’s cheaper to pay $60 a month for the unit rather than the extra $400 a month for a two bedroom apartment. It’s our workshop/garage/closets/Attic

Years ago my house got burgled (I live in the UK) and it hurt. Today years later I'd hate the unconvince if it ever happened again but there's nothing I'd hate being stolen unlike years ago. However since becoming minimalist I think any burglar breaking into my home would be very disappointed at the lack of stuff to take and would probably feel sorry for me and leave some stuff lol
