In this episode, Hareesh welcomes Dr. Kavithā Chinnaiyan, a practicing cardiologist, Professor of Medicine, and an international educator in cardiac imaging, preventive cardiology, and women's heart disease. She is the acclaimed author of several books, including The Heart of Wellness, Shakti Rising, and Fractals of Reality: Living the Śrīcakra, a Tantric initiate and adept. As the founder of Svatantra Institute and The Renegade Method™, Kavithā integrates spirituality with science, offering guidance in self-development, wellness, and burnout by blending modern medicine with Yoga, Tantra, Ayurveda, and Vedanta. An accomplished retreat leader, artist, and musician, she invites others into the transformative journey toward holistic well-being.
Kavithā shares her journey from a question-filled childhood within a Shaivaite family to transformative encounters with Vedantic teachings and Advanced Yoga Practices, culminating in her profound engagement with non-dual Shaiva Tantra. The conversation explores her immersion into the teachings of Śrī Vidyā, guided by revered teachers, and how these experiences harmonize with her medical expertise and personal life. Kavithā’s story is a testament to the integration of spiritual practice with the rhythms of daily life, reflecting on the roles of mantra, ritual, and The Direct Path in the journey for self-realization. This episode brings light to the complementary nature of the progressive and Direct Paths in the revealing of one's true nature and the unique ways they can enrich a dedicated spiritual practice.

Amazing. This really shows me Enlightenment is never ending and it looks like growing up but in experience it looks like getting more insights on life. Maturity is a developmental thing. My niece really believes she is going to marry her boyfriend in the future and she is only 15 😂. My oldest daughter is 19 is just starting to make money. She's learning how to use her money and spend it. She's always wanted money and now she has it. She has to go through this developmental stage to come out of it a better person. I'm 41 and this developmental thing is becoming more relevant and obvious . I had my own struggles growing up as well and I'm still learning/ growing up. They need to go through these stages to show themselves the Truth and their own truth. Developmental growth is inherent within humans? It's just we're also great at suppressing what we want. Or in some cases don't even know what we want.

my third time rewatching this, i sought the origin of this beautiful sufi quote 1:42:21 - *apparently, it is not sufi?* here's what i found: “Nobody has seen the trekking birds take their way towards such warmer spheres as do not exist, or rivers break their course through rocks and plains to run into an ocean which is not to be found. For God does not create a longing or a hope without having a fulfilling reality ready for them. But our longing is our pledge, and blessed are the homesick, for they shall come home.” ― Isak Dinesen

She (author's real name was Karen blixen) is paraphrasing that from a Sufi source. Recommend reading the whole story that quote is from!

Wisdom Consciousness Some of the talks remind me about CHOD practice and Shadow work(The malignant male and female demons Who create myriad troubles and obstructions Seem real before one has reached enlightenment. But when one realizes their true nature, They become Protectors, And through their help and assistance One attains numerous accomplishments. - Tibet’s great yogi Milarepa)

Great interview, thank you both. I would like to know how much she has integrated modern psychology (especially the embodied version) with traditional Tantric practices? She hints at an overlap, but doesn’t go into specifics.

An interesting chat, thanks for featuring this, Chris. Quite a path, Kavitha has had. I’m not a one for ritual or formatted practice, preferring spontaneity of unfoldment but acknowledge those for whom disciplined practice has worked. About mantras, in my view, the mantras automatically ’come to us’, so to speak, bestowed by the universe, as and when required. Of course we must be mindfully attentive to be aware when it happens. I appreciate the depth of clarity with which Kavitha speaks, although I don’t agree with all she affirms. 👍🏼

Enjoyed the dialogue! What I’ve learned on my spiritual path is to live what I learned and my experience. And from there just let go and simply live my life knowing the Goddess is there on “good” and “bad” days. And when I feel a bit lost I say to the Goddess “you drive Mother” then I laugh😅!

A really lovely wonderful interview…love what she said about Christian lineage as being so simple and sweet….how true… and how after experiencing so many teachings and masters on the planet or in subtler realms she ends her inner voyage (at least for the moment) saying not to take oneself so seriously and to turn it all over to the Divine Mother 🙏🏼🦚 (if I understood correctly) Thank you and look forward to the following interview

My sincere apologies as Iam going to share a pov , which may not seem + There is so much “I” in all her statements. But there is no I in the first place. Is there ? Life is unfolding through experiences of all kinds and “I” is just a vessel for them. But all I hear is “ I did this, I was intense, I could connect with masters in different realms etc” Ishwar Segobind spoke of similar experiences , but the way he explained, there was oneness , there was love, and there was profound connection for me🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏

this is very common projection. they are both in different traditions, anyway, heard both of them and the take away was completely opposite, not profound at all.

There is some truth in what u say. Thanks for that The other truth is I'm disillusioned with text based spiritual knowledge. I have been at it for a decade and i feel my spirituality is intellectualised much like this lady. But its nee-ras/ lacks the ras or the juice of love with the divine. I admire those who can dissolve themselves into oneness with the universe using love / bhakti. Like Kabir or Mirabai

It is definitively incorrect that nobody is saying the direct path means the progressive path is not needed. There are Neo Advaita folks and various non duality people all over the internett saying exactly this.
