i followed your example turning Phambili's hull recently. Chain blocks for lifting and truckers load straps for sliding it over. Worked a treat! Thank you.
We watched your video, yes it goes very easily. You were working with considerably more weight than us and you got it turned with no stress. Well done.
Great to see another Wharram build being documented on YT. What neat and clean work you two do, most impressive. Subbed and looking forward to following along. Thanks for sharing.
Great video Rex and Kathy!! Looks like you both are on another adventure. I surely appreciate you for sharing your progress and the updates that will follow.
It's a shame no one told you folks that cable zip ties are easier to use than copper wire and you can just cut them off flush whereas with copper wire it's recommended to remove them and fill up the holes. Great job on your boat.
Very nice video and workmanship! I'm currectly building a Seaclipper 20 trimaran (nearly done), but I already own a set of plans of the Tiki 26! Keep up the good work!
Looking great! Did I ever tell you my Dad made a 27’ Wharram back in 1970? He had bumped up the hull height a bit (with James approval, I think) and I lived on it for a while. We raced it from Ft. Myers until I sailed it up to Tampa.
@@RexandKathie No, I helped him with HoTai and that was enough. Those were big hulls to flip and arrange and we really had our hands full. I built big multihulls with Len Susman and shrimp boats at the Ft. Myers DESCO yard which cured me of building big boats on my own. Big boats are a team sport, and you are lucky you have a great teammate. The Peep videos were requested by some folks who were interested in buying my first Peep.
Just looked up the price of the plans, wow, very expensive. Looking forward to more building and sailing videos. Thanks for creating the videos. Love the boat.
You are both very beautiful. Kudos for your video. I am planning to build a modified Tiki 21 or Mana 24 - without cabins to have a very large cockpit with a simple roof like the Wharram Islander 39. Do you think it is easy to modify the plans?
Thanks, glad you are enjoying the video, We build according to the plans for anything that is structural. We will occasionally change a detail on non structural but figure that the designer has reasons why they drew the plans the way they did. It could be windage, spray protection, strength to stand up to waves coming aboard. Sounds like you need a clean slate like the Amatasi that has all of the strength that you could add removable pods. Just remember that you are adding weight and will be affected more by wind and waves. Wharram plans are on sale 20 per cent off thru 2 June. Best to you.
I am starting a 21 or 26 build in January 23’ thanks for making this video series it will help immensely. I would love to see a built 21 since I am leaning that way. My only concern is the “cabin” space if i can determine I can sleep semi-comfortably in a 21 hull the 21 will be built. This will be my first time building a boat although I’ve worked on the multiple sailboats I’ve owned over the years. The 21 seems attainable, the 26 looks like a whole lot more work. Would you agree? Thanks!
Not having seen the plans for a Tiki 26 I can't tell you what the construction differences are but my impression is that it is very similar to the 21 since it was developed after requests for a larger boat. Naturally costs increase and sizes of parts are slightly larger. I don't think the 26 would take that much longer to build. Keep in mind we are way over the number of Wharrams build time estimates. The cabin is 12 ft long but width is only 22 inches, about 36 wide at the sheer line. There is always the option of 6' by 7' tent on the center deck for sleeping or a canvas cockpit cover that would give the illusion of a larger sleeping space. I am somewhat claustrophobic. Best luck with your build.
We have no experience with Coosa board other than seeing it advertised on line. Price was the reason we did not pursue researching it further. We have a limited budget and can't answer what others choices are. Thanks for watching.
