Great video. Thanks. Concerning germany: Things changed a lot since the world Cup in which the focus was heavily on Popp. Schüller is in great form and Nüsken and Brand have improved a lot. Popp is not even starting every game now but still is a threat in the air. I worry more about the defense facing such strong offence in this group. Watch out for Schüller and Nüsken, they could be rising stars in this tournament.

Everyone in this group has something to prove for different reasons i.e.: underwhelming recent performances, injuries, Fed issues, coaching issues etc. Im very excited about this new U.S team because I feel like they have been desperately waiting, itching, knawing at their cage for an opportunity to make their own stamp on the program. They’ve lived in the shadows of the 2015/2019 WC teams, toiled w/Vlakto, had disappointing Olympics, injuries, and an early WC exit. They are poised to do something special. And I think that they have a solid group to do just that. In fact with Emma at the helm, I can absolutely see them on the podium with a medal. And just to think that Emma will likely keep tinkering with the team construction post olympics with sights on the next WC. So, I don’t see how players like Korbin continue in the next iteration of this team post olympics when Croix Bethune, Hershfelt or Yohannes is in the orbit. While she’s a PR nightmare right now, she seems to work well with Coffey. So, it doesn’t appear to be a liability from a playing perspective.

Yes! I completely agree with basically everything Sam said about the Tillies but especially Tony not rotating the players enough, I really hope he trusts the subs to do their jobs this time 💚💛

USA and Australia might get grouped if they are not careful. This group is tough and Zambia is no pushover with Banda and Rachel K. I Think they can spring a Suprise. Australia is weaker without Kerr and Germany will always be formidable especially with their poor WC performance.

Mary Fowler is getting better, more pitch time at Man City in recent months, and needs to step up. I really hope she does, as the Matildas develop tactics more sophisticated than 'get it to Sam!'. I regard losing Sam as a blessing in disguise but I don't know if we have the management to bring it about. The service is there, Foord is truly world class and Cooney-Cross is good. But we still have older players who are really from a different era with lower standards. No offence, but Gorrie is one of these and West Ham are pretty mediocre. I hope Torpey can challenge Ellie for the starting spot. It's an interesting time in women's football, all the big teams are having problems but Spain of course have more organisation, better coaching, and real belief. Thank you for this discussion, great insights and far better than 90% of the football punditry out there.

My suspicion is that Hayes is anti woke and has a soft spot of Korbin A and this will destroy the team. Hayes was a manager in the US before returning to England and making a name for herself in the WSL. I'm not confident that she's the one to return the US to medal contention. As a GothamFC fan, I'm biased but I think the USWNT would benefit from a Spanish type of coaching mindset. Because of the similarity in language and culture, the US college and NWSL have relied too much on English coaches. Among the soccer clubs where I am, every coach is English. It has become almost a joke that upper middle class parents only want somebody with an English accent to coach their girls.

You realize, don’t you, that the only coach to win two world cups is English- Jill Ellis

@@pnwesterner6220 Yes, she's about as English now as I'm Vietnamese. Her training was in America. She's not an imported English coach. There's a difference.
