Northeastern India is home to the state of Arunachal Pradesh. It is renowned for its rocky landscape, deep forests, and extensive cultural history. The state is strategically extremely important because it borders Bhutan, China, and Myanmar. Arunachal Pradesh is one of the least inhabited states in India, with a population of just 1.5 million. The indigenous tribal groups that make up the majority of the population each have their own distinctive customs and traditions. The Nyishi, Apatani, and Galo are the next three largest ethnic groups after the Adi. Hindi is the state's official language, but English and a number of regional languages are also extensively used. The diverse cultures of the state are well-known.
