Hi Kathryn, lovely podcast again ❤ Yes the fabric for your Christmas XL project bag was from Liberty's; their quilting fabric and yes I made up the pattern so as to not waste any of the fat quarters that I used and lining was from stash. 😁 x x x
@owlpool8476 It's important not to waste fabric! My box of "pieces too small to use" is getting full. 😉 I can't stop making project bags! The only problem is I only knit one project at a time. What si I do with them all. Lol
Yeyyyy! A lovely episode. I love love love that quilt. And the pier top is so gorgeous and answers the question that's been living in the back of my mind which is whether stripes work in variegated marl-y type yarn. And now i have my answer. Stunning 😍 I may make a Puntal for himself at some point. A very good stashbuster.
Hi Kathryn! I love your hexagon quilt! Well done. I use polyester thread when I sew hexagons together. The stretch helps to make sure any small differences are easily corrected. Your summer tee is beautiful! Love the subtle strips. Had to laugh at the term bingo wings. 😂 We call the "kipfiletjes" in Dutch which means chicken breast because they resemble them. 😂😂😂 Aachen and Münster are both such beautiful cities to walk around. Especially during the Christmas markets.
Thank you! And that is a good tip about the polyester thread. I used the Gütermann waxed thread for hand quilting but I am up for trying new things. Chicken breasts are so funny 😂 Thank you so much for watching again 🥰
@@madebymoomeeno I only use my waxed thread for the actual quilting and cotton or polyester for the patchwork. My favorite brand of quilting thread is YLI. I love the therapeutic rhythm of hand quilting.
Hello! Just found your podcast and I love it! Thank you very much for sharing your projects and your strolls around Germany. Also… I love your mum’s bags! I will definitely join the MAL, I am knitting an old Pompom pattern at the moment Yay!!! Xxx Have a lovely summer ❤
Your dress as well as your patchwork look amazing! I cannot sew at all, not even a straight line, so I am in awe! Also your ridge tee has a beautiful color, very fresh and summery... and the pier top also is very beautiful, and I guess it's a good way to use some scraps for the lines. Muenster looks very much like Nuernberg, I never knew. I lived for many years in the south of Germany, and I can recommend Nuernberg and Munich, if you want a slightly bigger trip you should definitely go! Thank you for another beautiful podcast!
Thank you for the lovely comment! I can't sew either; I genuinely just hope for the best lol! I would like to do some longer trips, perhaps to see the Christmas markets in a few months :) Thank you for watching 🥰
That is very helpful; thank you! I have just checked Google maps and it looks like just under a 6 hour drive from here so a good opportunity for a weekend away 🥰
Thanks for sharing all your projects. I haven’t seen much Lana Grossa yarn so it was interesting seeing your acquisitions. The red will make a lovely shawl. Like you, I’m new to spinning and it can be very frustrating at times!
So funny, I do the same: print out the WIPs and keep on a clipboard :)) I bought the pier 39 - cannot wait to start. It's still winter here, but with spring - starts all the sunny weather.
It’s a good system for me as I like to write on my patterns, especially test knits, as I go along. I hope you enjoy the Pier 39 top when you get to it! One of the testers made a heavier weight version to use a slipover which might be an option if you can’t wait 😜 Thank you for watching 🥰
@@madebymoomeeno I bought a bit thinner cotton yarn for it, so I have a feeling I will knit a few trials before I get the real deal :D Will be loads of counting my gauge will be very off. :S
Hi Kathryn Lovely podcast again! Love your Pier 39 I have bought the pattern so now I’m on the hunt for the perfect yarn 😊 The meadow flower wrap is simply gorgeous, it’s going to be beautiful in the yarn you have chosen and will match your eye colour! Love the Xmas bag it’s inspired me to make one too! Must start thinking about gift knits I suppose🤔 I really enjoy the footage of the places you visit, only had a brief stay in Germany so haven’t seen much of the country. I do remember the breakfast though and did find it funny having meat and cheese instead of my regular fruit and muesli 😂 creatures of habit 😂 yummy breads and cakes in Germany though. I would love the sock yarn and think that would be a great prize for your MAL 😊
That is lovely news about the Pier 39! Good luck looking for yarn! I am looking forward to making a gift knits ideas episode so maybe I will have some inspiration for you :) Do you have any go-to patterns? I have such a big family I have to start early if I want to make everything I plan! Thank you so much for your lovely comment and for watching 🥰
@@madebymoomeeno I have made small knitted face cloths/ make up removers with a lovely naturally scented soap as gifts and little knitted soap pouches to store in drawers to keep away moths etc. Not exciting but practical gifts 😀
I think sock yarn makes a fine prize! Cool that your mom has a longarm...does she take in customer quilts? I've had my longarm business for 20yrs now. I love it as much now as when I started 😊
I think I will include it as a prize :) My mum doesn't take in quilts but she does occasionally take commissions for complete quilts but not very often. It is such an amazing skill and I am in awe of the quilting community! Thank you for watching 🥰
Love your podcast. I have just started Zoria by Marzena Kolaczek. Tried sample on in Beautiful Knitters. Loved it. I’m knitting it in KFO merino, colour Plum Rose, held double. Bought yarn from BK too. Happy designing and knitting.
Ooo I just looked at the pattern and it is lovely! And that yarn is just wonderful to knit with :) Have you tried their cotton merino? It is fab for summer knits. Thank you for watching 🥰
Ich kenn das Oberarmproblem unter "Winkearme"! Meine sind auch gut dabei! 😄Tolle Projekte! Deine Patchworkdecke ist großartig! Ich mag deine Videos sehr! Liebe Grüße aus Wien 🌻
thank you for your advise on the underarm!! very helpful. Your english paperpieced quilt is beautiful. I started on like 20 years ago and it a 1/3 way done. I started it before it became popular! I really should finish it.
Love your podcast. Pier 39! ❤️ I wanted to tell you that I struggled learning to spin, someone recommended using a fiber with a longer staple. I switched to Rambouillet and it made a lot of difference while learning. Anyway, just thought I would pass on the advice 🤷🏻♀️❤️
That is a really good tip and you are absolutely right! When I buy some more fibre I'll definitely choose something with a longer staple! Thank you so much for watching 🥰
Well done for starting on holiday knitting! I have an Instagram friend who I’m meeting in San Francisco and am making her a Alpacacino sweater (by Max the knitter). She’s Welsh and lives in Northumberland. Am going to try to knit another friend up in the Bay Area a Lume by Sari Nordland-these will all be due in October. Then I have to make my husband the Old Fashioned! Lots to do! Luckily, I’ve been making a few shawls and socks on the way during the heat of the summer. BTW, I’m pretty sure Puntal is Spanish and the accent goes on the “a”. Looking forward to watching you make that wrap-I’ve wanted to make one for a while but haven’t found the right pattern. Enjoy the summer break.
You sound super busy but in such a lovely way! Of course you are absolutely right about the pronunciation and I will try and remember when I talk about it next time! It is just one of those words that I never heard out loud and my silly brain didn't connect the spanish designer with needing to check the pronunciation of the pattern. I think the wrap pattern is going to be fab but if you want a squishier brioche version, Rust Knitwear has one in testing at the moment too :) Thank you for watching 🥰
Cheese cloth is a bit like that. It's a looser weave. We used it to strain the pulp out of our jelly. You are the second person I've seen this week whonhas used it for a dress. Brilliant! I'm going to do that too. We use it for baby blankies so it may be difficult to get it without bears on it. Lol. I enjoy your podcast. Thanks for sharing!
That makes sense! It certainly makes very cool summer garments so I can highly reccomend it! My Florence dress is a few years old now but its holding up well. I hope you can find some without bear lol! Thanks for watching 🥰
I find the smaller hexies, not so small, are easier and quicker. The 1 inch and 3/4 inch flies. Especially if you have a rotating mat. Best investment ever!
Hi Kathryn, would love to join your MAL ! I have the perfect wool I would like to reuse after undoing a jumper a few years ago 🧶The sock wool you are offering as a prize I’m so impressed with as my husband is very hard wearing on socks and it has held up amazingly 😁
