As far as spending money for gear goes, I'm always wary of saving too much. The cheaper piece of gear might actually cost you far more if your light falls (especially if it hits someone). I've never regretted spending the extra few bucks on Matthews (or similar good gear), since I've never had it fail. Peace of mind and reliability are important... :)

Make your beavers square. You can fit a shit ton of them in a milk crate. Pancake size doesnt fit anywhere.

Question about Baby Plate: I am working in the art Dept for a "music reality" show that is currently in Pre-production. I am attempting to come up with a design that will showcase various guitars in front of some light boxes using vertical pipes and grip equipment. Let me know if you think my current brainstorm will work. I am thinking of screwing baby plates of 3"&6" pins to the back of a guitar hanger with a wooden base and then putting the pin into a Mafer clamp which will camp onto the pipes. I was hoping to include some magic arms and offset arms, however, at this point, it seems to be cost prohibited. My main concern is these instruments are sponsor items and insanely expensive. I would hate to damage them and am looking for good ways to test my theories. Any feedback you may be able to provide would be very helpful. Just found your account today, and am loving the videos. Thanks for sharing your knowledge.

Amazing channel! You got a new sub! I wanted to ask: what is the type of adapter that is on the yoke of your light that I saw you attach to the pin on the "apple board" you made at 1:44? I have a few can lights with only a yoke and want to know what adapter you're using. much appreciated!! A video with the anatomy of each part of Grip Gear (names AND dimensions) / electric Components would help us newbies as we would be educated as to what the name of "that part" is so we can go and buy it! cheers!

Mark Henry Cooney any baby pin adapter that is female 5/8 to at least 1/4-20" male. Here's a link www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1046652-REG/matthews_350625_baby_pin_adapter.html. It's not like the one that comes standard on my light but this could work similar.

Much appreciated. I have already looked at the product you linked but I noted it wasn't the same one you had. I figured it was an exclusive Arri component.

It's called a beaver board because a chick could squat on it and... well, you get the idea. It's also referred to as a manual sybian.

That’s actually a common misconception. It has to do with a light being on it and at the right angle it looks like a beaver. True story, thought I would answer that before someone else did. I’ve never really seen it but I get the concept
