Ep. 15: Camping at Little Rock Holiday Resort, Ladybrand / My first visit to the Eastern Free State

In this episode I travel to the Eastern Free State and visit Little Rock on the outskirts of Ladybrand.
The Eastern Free State is the most scenic part of the Free State and worth a visit. Beautiful sandstone mountains surround this peaceful camp site on all sides.
Little Rock offers everything you need if you want to get away from the hustle of the big city life. Here you can relax and recharge your batteries.
The camp site is well maintained and the ablution facilities are neat and clean.
They also have 14 chalets if you are not into camping. There is a swimming pool, bar, restaurant and even hiking trails.
I can recommend Little Rock and I hope to camp there again sometime in the future.

Beautiful place Jaco. Taught ballet there for 6 years. Driving from Bloemfontein and back once a week. Also stayed in the rondawels many times. it is as you say the most beautiful part of the free State and definitely worth a visit. Your fritatta looked delicious. Stunning drone footage as usual . Hello Jaco, we subscribed. We love camping and been for about 6yrs. We been to most Kzn sites, wish to travel to more around the country. Thank you for the channel, very informative and beautiful sites as well. Just some receipie ideas, we use for camping. Pita or wraps, with your own filling done before you go, stir fry with pasta or noodles, quick curry. I always prepare day before. Cooking goes quicker at camp. Hope it helps. Thanks again. This place looks amazing, I wasn't expecting much from Ladybrand, since it is so small and remote. But really the Little Rock holiday resort looks well kept. I'm also surprised at the little fall, I saw a similar fall closeby at the Red Bus stop near Clarence. I'm also from Bloemfontein, so it is really nice having you traveling around Bloemfontein to visit the smaller lesser known places in the Free State. I've only watched two videos from your channel so maybe you do mention this, but if you have time, please do a introduction to what you do for a living? I'm always surprised that people can leave on a Friday morning for a camping trip, when most of SA is still working. So you must have a very interesting work setup. Also you travel alone, is that by choice or because of other reasons? It would be nice if local people can join you on a trip.

Hello Bernard. Thank you for watching my videos and leaving a comment. I am sure that we are both Afrikaans speaking, so we can switch to Afrikaans in future communications... Haha Well, to answer your first question. I do not have a 9 to 5 job. I am doing the RU-vid project full time, but I travel according to my budget. I am not yet making any money from RU-vid, but hopefully that will change sometime in the future. That is why I opened the Patreon account. I hope that my viewers will support me so that I can keep my channel going. Yes, I travel alone, but there is no specific reason for that. I am single at this stage, but that might change if I meet the right person. Who knows??? Are you a camper as well?

I'm just starting out, a pensioner that wants to travel single, I am sotho speaking, I saw on Facebook whereby people in the Eastern cape travel together in self drives, then you can charge a fee for group travel. This is just for safety reasons but every one is in their own tent or caravan. Please consider it

@@barenaked_camper Unfortunaltely the only camping I'm doing at this time is behind my desk on a chair. I'm not yet in the right income group to start camping regularly, but as a child growing up we used to caravan camp a lot, so it is all familiar. One of my future dreams is a concord-type caravan, or I'm also very keen on a BMW R1200GS with regular camping trips. But with a wive and kids I have to be selective to where I spend money. Also the price of fuel is not helping. Pulling a caravan now is an expensive drive. We are looking at doing a bit of tent camping in the upcomming summer months. Well good luck with the RU-vid adventure. You are in the "tourist" category, so you should verify that your videos and format appeal to a international travel audience. The hikes you do and showing a bit of "the SA outback" (also known as the Free State) is a very good angle. 👍👍

hi Jaco, jy moet dalk vir jou n gas stofie oor weeg, ek is n electrician ek het gesien hoe jou ligte bly dim, die krag by kamp sites is nie so stable nie, checkers verkoop so een plaat gas stoof met portable klein botteltjies, noem dit n bushbaby

Hi Johann. Ek het een van daardie Bush Baby gasstofies wat ek van tyd tot tyd gebruik. Ek weet nie hoekom die karavaan se buitelig op die video so gedim het nie, want die lig het konstant gebrand terwyl ek die video gemaak het. Kan dit dalk iets met die LED lig en my kamera se settings wees wat nie gematch het nie?

Hi Leon. Die nuwe matras het my R3 500 gekos. Ek het ongelukkig nie meer die mates by my nie, want ek het dit vir Felske gegee en vergeet om dit terug te vra. Die nuwe matras is 150mm hoog, en dit maak 'n groot verskil. Het jou Fleetline ook 'n eiland bed?
