If you're gonna nerd out about comedy this is how you do it. One of my favourite episodes. The introspective conversations about dark jokes quoting Joan Rivers. Lowkey this is some of my favourite philosophy on the internet. "You say never forget. This is how I remember." What a line
Jimmy Carr was the best "working on bits" guest I've heard. Really quick wits, really thinking hard about how the joke should work, and genuinely useful advice. Also love how on Sam's bit he pointed out how he doesn't think he helped at all
Jimmy is a great guest, coming with real enthusiasm and a great vibe. But him giving mark absolutely nothing after every joke has me cracking up 😭 some of these quips are gold and Jimmy gives them a few beats and moves on without so much as an exhale
@@Humma_Kavulaeh, he laughed at the “that’s a lot of feces”, but still, Jimmy has done thousands of hours on panel shows where everyone is constantly looking for the funniest joke. Podcast settings are more conversational so it’s easy mode for him.
Jimmy Carr telling Sam to do that joke about how he's running for office in the Middle East was a god send! I saw Sam in Sydney 2 days ago and he did that bit. IT KILLED.
The segment where they analyze bits they're working on was gold, you never see comics really break down their bits like that and work on them in real time, awesome.
Mark relentlessly pursuing a laugh is one of the best things to watch. He’s the archetype for learning to just go for it and not being scared what other people might think
For anyone that truly appreciates comedy, and the art of stand up, this is one of the best podcasts I've listened to in some time. Thank you all for all the insight, and a peek behind the curtain of your wonderful art form.
Honestly, Jimmy Carr is such a class act... One of the greatest comedians of all time, carries himself with such respect and dignity. Notice how hard it is to get a laugh out of him!
Oh my lord I'm so friggin excited to listen to this I almost wanna save it for my work day tomorrow. But I won't be able to. Jimmy Carr has been hitting all the pod's lately and I've loved every episode he's been on - so god damn charming and funny.
9:45 I have been exclusively watching movies between the 60s- early 2000s, its a breath of fresh air to see what media was like before cancellation😂 Jimmy, Mark and Sam are so right 💯
I feel like they're at a similar level of fame, just Jimmy has been there longer. Like, all theaters he mentioned, they also have played, so they have similar sized audiences. They're both at the level of comedy fans know them plus some non-comedy fans are like 'oh, I've seen that guy', like that level. Jimmy maybe a little bit more but they're in the same tier basically.
@@paddydemps2291 I just felt that Jimmy wasn't very impressed with what they brought to the table. I could be wrong. He just wasn't finding mark very funny it seemed, probably almost thought he was annoying at times. Which sucks cause I like all 3 of them and was looking forward to this pod. It wasn't totally bad, but they definitely didn't click like Jim Jeffries episode
Jimmy gets annoyingly philosophical when he is trying to make a point, kinda like Joe Rogan, but he cracked him a couple of times right there at the end.,
This is my most favorite episode thus far as they unpack comedy in the most perfect of ways. 3 muses, musing each other while amusing us. Damn that’s talent.
On Modafinil: Modafinil's side effects include headaches, anxiety, and nausea. Serious side effects in high doses include delusions, unfounded beliefs, paranoia, irrational thought, and transient depression, possibly due to its effects on dopamine receptors in the brain, as well as allergic reactions. The amount of medication used should be adjusted in those with kidney problems, as this medication has markedly increased side effects during renal insufficiency.
"we've got a guest on his way in from across the pond.. i dont want to give anything away" you mean like the title i clicked on already? lol love ya mark
Jeff Dunham has really stepped up his game. How he got his new dummy named Jimmy to move and talk without even being on the screen was impressive. Must've been working on that with David Blaine in Vegas.
Also I love how Jimmy talks about the different laughs as if he's a serial killer getting different screams. . . The dedication to comedy as a craft in this podcast is bonechillingly refreshing. 😂
Winnie is adorable, I love how she was sleeping and then sat up and looked at the guys talking like she needs to catch up with the conversation 😊 Great episode lads, Jimmy is one of the best we've got so it's always nice to see him doing well over there too. 👍🏻
Marks comedy style is so brilliant but seems they dont get it, he purposely makes the most unfunny jokes & delivers them like it is for real. Brilliant, i'm surprised Jimmy doesn't get how he is trolling everyone.
The dog is getting all the jokes and keeps giving Mark the side eye, he finally roused up onto his front paws in agreement when Jimmy said boredom is under rated lol
The illegal bit about letting people ride the subway for free is if there is an accident , your ticket is your insurance. Also people who check the trains for freeloaders are gonna write those fees anyway. So in fact - it could hurt the customers in so many ways if you're a subway driver on strike.
Drinking messes up your sleep, especially after 38 years old. Good luck boys. Drinking is not going to help your comedy if you can't sleep right, or maybe it will? I have no clue. I'm only 3 years in.
