I’m liking this new approach to build updates Nick. It was great to see the build on the Dobbies stand this year and talk in depth about the project. We’re all envious of your back yard shed.
Agree, Japhands Karl Fisher is good at his trade, and good at teaching it, Kyle from Carters Auto Restyling is a very good metal finisher, crazy as a cut snake though..lol.
You are right about the mig welds being different to tig on sheet. For some reason a mig weld is almost 4% stronger than ordinary mild steel, which is enough to make it much more difficult to dolly out, you just end up stretching the sheet rather than flattening the weld.
When fabricating patch sections, try to radius the corners, rather than a square corner, this helps with distortion as a square corner you are concentrating the heat to a single point. Also it makes it easier to do a continuous weld.
