Hey thanks heaps, really enjoyed the trip back to Snake Island. I used to sail/camp in a 14’ clinker dinghy we called “Swallow”. We used to cruise to New Norfolk and back - I was about 10 years old, and my brother 14. Thanks so much for your excellent review - what a great little boat Scamp is. Always enjoy your videos! I’m still hoping one of these will come up for sale in North Carolina one of these days! Fits my desire for small boat sailing perfectly. If I don’t put a motor on it, but row or scull, it doesn’t even have to be registered here.

I love this channel, and this video is fantastic! The Scamp is a wonderful boat, for a certain type of person, in certain conditions. But… People have turned this boat into an almost mythic status, do anything miracle machine. There are other, less effusive opinions of the design on my channel after having owned one for a year. Link is in the description of the Scamp videos on my channel. Enjoy! 😇

The most amazing thing about this video (I'm only three and a half minutes in, but I already know this is the most amazing part) is seeing that bracket for the outboard is made in the U.S.A. I suspect I couldn't find anything like that in the USA - 99.99% of products here are of very poor quality and made in China.

Nice video. Whilst watching I compared features of your plastic SCAMP with my garage made ply SCAMP. Both very stable. Love your tent design except I have halyards on top of cuddy in jam cleats so your tent wouldn't work on my boat. That said I don't have to bend down to release halyards. Like your cockpit wooden slat setup for a sleeping floor. Might make something similar. Cheers from Trevor sailing Clare (hull#407) on Burley Griffin, ACT.

@SmallCraftTasmania-ms4sx
@SmallCraftTasmania-ms4sx 24 дня назад
We designed the tent from scratch. A talented local canvas cover maker made it for us. Yes, completely mozzie proof once you stuff a sponge in the transom tiller hole.
@jimsheldonswe7846

Wonder why you don’t have cringles sewed to that tent and just tie it to the boom to keep its shape.
@SmallCraftTasmania-ms4sx
@SmallCraftTasmania-ms4sx 14 дней назад
Because then you couldn’t sail with it up. It wouldn’t be the same shape. And when the boom sways with boat motion it would tear the tent.
