I loved The Holdovers. And have enjoyed all the Alexander Payne I have seen. But I couldn't have articulated my enjoyment until listening to your podcast. You guys have so much love to all the pop culture you discuss, and I am here for it. And now I hear I missed your Breaking Away discussion? Frustrating, but also joy that I have that to listen to as well. Thank you.

Thank you so much for that wonderful comment! And you're right, we only cover stuff we love. With so much hate/shade being tossed around these days, we'd rather stick to material that nurtures us. Hope you enjoy the Breaking Away episode!

This was a great movie. And the Louis XIII scene in the car was a great note to end on.

Nice one, fellas. Paul Giamatti is one of those actors who improves everything they're in. The kid held his own though. All the 70s talk, and this film's setting, reminded me of the Ang Lee movie, Ice Storm. I'd like to hear your thoughts on that one, if you haven't.

Well said, Marc! No matter the size of the part, he's fantastic. [I remember he had a small scene sharing a cigarette with Julia Roberts' in My Best Friend's Wedding, and I was like, Who the hell is this guy? He was on another level.] Great suggestion on the Ice Storm. It does have a similar vibe, and it's a film I really loved. I'll put it on the list for sure. Thanks!

And I of course, true to form, have never seen Ice Storm. :)

@@greedonever it's fairly heavy. But well-done. Great cast. Some similar family themes to The Holdovers.
