I'm sorry that the guy was plain ignorant. I've been following you for more than 2 or 3 years and I know you are one of the most polite people that I know! Also, I'm glad that you started to stream on RU-vid too because I mainly watch on a computer so RU-vid is better video quality for me.
Thank you for your kind words, curiouszaru. I’m polite when I have to be but I also have a spine and will not tolerate any BS. Plenty more coming so please look out for my notifications. I appreciate your feedback.
Touching a maiko and taking accessories from her hair is inexcusable! What a violation! What makes people think they can do things like that to another person?

This video did a great job 👍👍. Especially I really get into the beginning part , the Maiko-san was cute and polite, her kimono floated by the wind, and the sun shines on her ~ fascinating ~ ... MY reaction just like all the tourist, there was an old-lady with glasses taking water bottle her reaction very amusing (cute) and very me (my reaction just like her)🤣🤣❤❤

Nice vid Dave. By the way the ones in regular kimono are mostly geikos. Geikos don't wear the outfit in certain occasions. The okamisan are usually around in their 70s or 80s.
Dave, the best place to see all of them is by the Kaburenjo theater exit, all of them come and go from there. In 1:36 in chess obi is geiko Kimizuru. No one pay attention on the ones without white make-up. In 48:30 geiko Danmitsu.
Makoto Rocha The Kaburenjo is next to Gion corner so why are they coming from a totally different area? I knew I would hear from you if I didn’t film all of the other Geiko without makeup! I did point my camera at a few so you could get a look at them.
Hi, Dave. The girls come from the Kaburenjo exit wich is not in Hanamikoji. If you note they come from the narrow back streets. The exit is close to the Masuume ochaya in a street that crosses Hanamikoji. In this video in the begining you can see the exit of Kaburenjo on the right side by those yellow fences: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-NGPgoSC3OS8.html Nice to see the geiko without white make-up, they look so elegant in that subdued style. You pointed out some women as being okaasan of Tama and also of Nihimura, but none of them are okaasan. Nishimura okaasan has a problem on her leg so she walks with some dificulty and Tama-san apperas in this video I send you. I love your videos and I'm anxious to see Miyagawacho geiko and maiko through your lensses.

Ronin Editor This is Hanamikoji Street. It’s mess now with so much construction. Also, supposedly you cannot take pictures of the Geiko or Maiko without permission. I went in April when the performances are going on so they all run by on this street.
@@DaveinOsaka Thanks so much!! Yeah, I was worried about offending anyone if I took a picture. I saw a horribly embarrassing video of Americans blocking two geisha, taking pictures of them a foot or two away and the geisha had to walk around. It was appalling. I wonder, culturally, if it's okay to take pictures from afar.
@@DaveinOsaka I wanted follow-up that I went there and, yeah, there are signs posted everywhere that we can't take pictures or video anymore...but I understand why.
This is Kyoto, the correct term would be "Geiko" not "Geisha". And for those who don't know, easy way to tell a Maiko from a Geiko/Geisha is Maiko wears flowers and dangly hear accessories, Geiko/Geisha don't.
I use geisha because it is a much more commonly used word in English searches than Geiko or Maiko but I am aware that it is the term used in Kyoto. Thank you.
i feel you bro, it happened to me in Arizona, USA my tripod is already set up for the sunset in U-bend when one bully sonofabitch just stand in front of my camera, i dont argue i just move away and find a new and ugly location for i was a tourist and i dont know what is he up to. shit happens anywhere...coolhead thats all you need.
That guy is still after me. He’s in my other recent live Geisha videos from the Erikae. He goes after other people. I’m glad to know it’s not just me. Right on with that. Cool heads prevail.
It really depends on the budget of the customer. The length of time, the number of performances, the size of the audience, etc., will affect how much they make. For my situation, it was one hour and she performed 1 song and it was around 4-500CDN dollars including drinks.
Why you keep missing all Geikos? Why do you hate them so much? Maiko is not only one who is beautiful, they are all beautiful. You never say that Geikos are pretty. Many wanted to see Geikos and you just turn camera away. -_- Like you rarely even say they are pretty, thats wat i meant.
It wasn't an okiya. It is a restaurant. It's called Ichiriki. He is always there greeting any customers who enter. At least I think thats the place you are referring to.
It looks like this was for the Miyako Odori, where both maiko and junior geiko who are participating in the dance will wear the same hairstyle. They’re going to the theater to get dressed as well so they’re wearing normal kimono which can make it even more difficult. Basically the only way you can tell is by being familiar with the maiko and geiko themselves as individuals.
@@moushimoushi8963 yes is confusing. But as far as I know they go to the theater already dress. Actually have seen geikos with their huge costumes coming out from taxis, And even when they dress in the place they put the kansashis at home along with the make up. And geikos and maikos do not use the same hair styles, maiko use wareshinobu and ofuku, beside geiko that have shimada. And when maikos use one call hankoshimada they have a colofur ribon on the hair douwn of the ponytail, As well i know that geikos styling their hairs for the tea parties after the odori. Maybe the stilist do not do a exact shimada because is really hard. I have seen how is done.
Irene Gavidia normally, yes maiko and geiko go out from their okiya already dressed, however for huge events such as the miyako odori, they go to the theater in order to be dressed, that way they can help each other out and the dressers don’t have to run from one okiya to the next in order to have everyone dressed and ready to go. The maiko that are dressed in their normal hiki, such as the first one, is not performing at the odori (not everyone chooses to participate so they’ll go about their normal business. It’s also safer as they don’t have to worry about tourists grabbing them or dirtying the iconic blue kimono that most of the maiko and geiko wear if they don’t have a major part^^
@@moushimoushi8963 yes that is true. I have seen it too but no much frecuently. How ever the hair is always done when they come out from the okiya with their kansahis and of course using make up.. that is why I have doubts about some of the ones seing in the video they dont have the usuak fabric on the hair from when thei use The yakko shimada and the kimono is not very clearim watching again the video to check. Thank you for the comment.
WELOVEJAZZ5568 Kyoto is a major tourist area. These number of tourists is a new thing and it will not stop. The numbers will only increase so we should get used to it.
