This Episode covers zone 1 gardens, close to our kitchen door, where we grow many of our vegetables and fruits. The main garden here is the WIFI garden, which is split in two parts - 4G and 3G. It is called the WIFI garden because the beds design looks like a wifi symbol. It is designed such to capture all water running downstream, and maximise sun coming from the south.
Manisha tells you how she has designed this garden, and also shows you the tomatoes, bottle gourd, baby corn, brinjal, asparagus, cauliflower, cabbage, bok choy, broccoli, beetroot, parsley, spinach, spring onions growing here. She also explains how the Moringa trees give the summer garden some dappled shade to survive the harsh heat, and the other smaller trees like guava, citrus, pears and peaches can easily integrate into the vegetable garden. The Papaya circles at the top of the garden soak in all the grey water from the kitchen as well as the rainfall run off. The mango trees to the north are the tallest and do not obstruct the light for any of the shorter trees.
What's Growing is a mini series filmed by Aanandaa permaculture at regular intervals, to educate and inspire others to have a permaculture garden of their own. This series is a documentary of our permaculture gardens, caught on camera in different seasons. We show you what is growing, how it is growing and what we are harvesting.
Thanks for stopping by, stay safe xx
