Ep. 32: Camping at Siloam Village, Oviston, Eastern Cape. Gariep dam is at your doorstep.

Welcome back to my channel. Thank you for tuning in.
In this episode I travel to the Eastern Cape, and camp at Siloam Village in Oviston, near Venterstad.
Gariep dam is spitting distance from the camp site if you want to go fishing or rowing or just want to relax next to the biggest dam in South Africa.
Siloam also have a number of rooms and chalets for people who do not enjoy camping. They also have conference facilities and cater for large groups, like school events. There is an obstacle course for team building events etc.
The camping site was neat and clean, and the ablution facilities were sufficient with enough hot water.
I can recommend Siloam Village if you enjoy the peace and quiet of a small town in the country side.

I lived in Oviston with my parents just after it was established in1968, wonderful childhood memories. We lived in one of the first pre-fabricated homes, was first intake in the tiny Oviston school. Absolutely adore the Karoo!

Unfortunately even though the country's biggest dam is right there it remains a very arid part of our country.....almost Karroo type of environment....great videos, keep them flowing....👍👍👌

Hi. Thank you for watching. Yes, central SA isn't the most beautiful part of our country, especially during and just after the winter, but it turns green and beautiful as soon as the rains come. I am sure Oviston and the surrounding area will look much better towards the end of the year.

I started off more than a year ago with our first channel @charlesmariadventures and then it moved to the next two @die_bosknaap and @PaintedPaws-1 which was born out of the first one. I have just recently started with birding which originated from the first three and the footage that I collected. I have tried numerous times to reach out to fellow SA RU-vidrs to meet and greet, but unresponsive to this day. I have reached out on other social platforms and all in vain. Hello. Thank you for watching. I do not have a dedicated rally tent. The "rally tent" that I use is the first section of my caravan's big tent. The rest of the tent just zipps on to this first section. I hope I explained it correctly?

Hello. Thank you for watching. Siloam village caters more for large groups of children and people who prefer to stay in self-catering chalets. The camping area is a bonus for campers, and it will look very different as soon as the rains come.

Looking at the dorms and the conference facilities, I note with some concern that in the event of a fire, the single door into a dorm and no visible fire escape or fire extinguishers is a disaster waiting to happen! Are these premises licensed to accommodate 66 to a dorm? I doubt it!

Die program was n bietjie teleurstellend. Ek het tien jaar terug daar gewoon, (die klip huis naby die ou karavaan plek) Ek sou graag wou sien hou lyk die dorp en my huis van die drone se visie af. Verder was die program oulik dankie.
