We decide to embark on an island tour with the local University students. They take us to a small village and we are given a traditional welcome.
We head to a rural restaurant overlooking the ocean and have an Indonesian lunch.
We then board a narrow boat and head down the estuary where we check out an ancient fish trap.
It’s then time to leave Debut and sail to Banda Neira, which is the original spice island where nutmeg was found. This caused quite a stir in history!
On our way to Banda Neira we stop off at the beautiful Ngurbloat beach and then continue west to a small village where a few of the local children paddle out to our boat.
We finally arrive at Banda Neira where we med moor opposite a nutmeg cafe!
Magnus works on the autopilot which stopped working during our crossing.
Thanks for watching.
Until next time…
Wendy and Magnus

I have heard if you do not rub in the sun block it is doubly effective as it reflects and blocks the suns rays 😉

Always get pleasure from watching Nutshell. Gamer man, then I dragging that tender. It is quite harrowing when the seas get rather large, but never again for me. That happened in 1988, East Coast NSW returning from Far North QLD

You need the pub with a fire for a pint of old . Having a spitfire tonight , the old will be tomorrow , or I have some pedigree?

What’s your secret to towing Peanut in the open ocean? How long is the painter and do you adjust it depending on sea conditions, boat speed, where the stern wave is, etc? There doesn’t appear to be more than one painter. And do you take stuff out of the dinghy?
@LifeinaNutshell
@LifeinaNutshell 11 месяцев назад
Hi Paul The painter is about 20 m long. Single reinforced tow point. I never adjust the length. I leave the motor down to create some drag. I lock the steering ahead. We leave everything in the dinghy. The secret to our setup is the boat collar. It stops the dingy broaching and gives the bow a lot of boyancy. The dinghy also has an automatic bilge pump. Hope that helps. Cheers
