Starting on the carnivore diet in 2020 completely changed my life: both physically and mentally. Within a few months of a meat & eggs-only diet, lifelong ailments and significant health issues which I assumed were just a sign of getting old...and that I'd have to accept as 'just the way it's going to be' either completely disappeared or reduced to such a degree that I no longer recognised them. A lot of what Paul is saying here has undoubtedly worked for me. However, I completely understand how difficult it is for some people to hear. If you're doing great, feeling great, no matter what you're eating, I think even Paul would encourage you to keep doing what you're doing. But if, like me, you do have autoimmune / health issues that you're struggling with, perhaps it's at least worth considering. After three years of this, I'm trying to learn not to park my own common sense at the door: not to blindly hand over responsibility for my own health to others, but instead listen to how my body reacts to the foods I eat. For those who do have issues similar to mine (asthma, eczema, IBS, chronic fatigue) I would strongly recommend keeping a food diary to track which foods might be contributing to your issues. Doing this helped me understand that it was heavy-carb meals (pasta, porridge, sandwiches) that were causing the fatigue.
@universaltruth2025
@universaltruth2025 Год назад
I’m in my 50s & get IBS but chronic constipation is my main health issue. I also get chronic fatigue type symptoms. I have a strong memory as a child of being given a plate of porridge for breakfast before school, (with cream & sugar) and feeling absolutely exhausted as I walked to school. And thinking every time I eat porridge it makes me tired and it seemed wrong to feel that exhausted first thing in the morning.

As a registered nutritional therapist myself, I wanted to comment on this episode. I have followed your podcasts for a long time. Whilst I agree with some of what Dr Saladino says, you have to be careful about prescribing one specific approach to all. While he mentions the research behind his approach, there is also evidence about the negative effect of a high animal fat/red meat/dairy diet which isn't mentioned apart from bacon. Also, to say that you should remove vegetables from your diet, due to oxalates (which can affect people differently and may be reduced by cooking), ignores the many benefits of vegetables for a person's health. A varied diet, tailored to your health and dietary preferences, will work better in the long term. Perhaps having another guest with another view might have provided more reassurance for those who want to be vegetarian, vegan or not eat raw meat.

This is the first step. My reaction was the same as yours. But your opinion will change if you decide to dive deeper. You may not want to though because unfortunately you won’t be able to unlearn it once you realise how amazing it is. Read the comments on every carnivore diet video. Thousands of stories of people healing. Try the diet yourself. You’ll be surprised

I went plant-based for 3 months and got eczema which I never before experienced and a huge rash on my neck, like hives with swells, super itchy. Long story short, I did my research and found out about oxalates, so I went carnivore. 2 issues I’ve faced with the carnivore diet: muscle cramps and worsen constipation. I increased my water intake and celtic salt, improved somewhat but still remained. I’m now adding papaya, bananas and some carbs in small amounts. Otherwise, I’m feeling great! The focus thing is real! The improved mood- real! Overall this is amazing! Brain fog gone! I feel so much more productive at work! Many benefits! Even when constipated, I don’t feel bloated or super uncomfortable like before… 🤷🏽‍♀️ so I’m sticking with it, but with small amounts of lower oxalate containing fruits and honey. Side note: “I like me some lengua” that’s what she said 🤦🏽‍♀️😂 I just had to

He is quite accurate in what he is saying about people with existing autoimmune conditions, gut issues, they do have more difficulties in digesting certain vegetables. Especially night shade vegetables that are high in lectin. These irritate your gut and trigger flare ups in your condition. Especially for me for the past six months I was having trouble with night shades, kale, oats, mushrooms, the foods you wouldn’t think would irritate your gut. They causing flare ups in my skin conditions or rather allergic reactions, especially almonds. So having eliminated these all from my diet it really helped. Not to mention the main culprits are dairy, gluten, processed sugars and all processed foods too. But hats off to Dr Paul, he is doing a incredible job spreading his knowledge. Really appreciate him ❤

Learning nutrition in Europe, and many nutritionists here would listen to this and look at the sky thinking another one pushing all kinds of theories as if they were confirmed. There are a lot of theories that were never confirmed, like the theory that the resveraterol in the red wine that would protect your heart and would explain why the French live longer. But Harvard went through a thorough research showing that a Human needs thousands of glasses of wine per day to get enough resveraterol to protect your heart (spoiler alert you would die), and theorized that the French live longer because they move more every day, the food portions are much less and the produces are of very high quality. Nutritionists here would give you a specific diet depending on your genetics and habits, but most generally would tell you to ban any kind of processed food from the grocery store (cookies, ice cream, pre-made pizzas etc), eat raw and cooked fruits and vegetables, eat meat, avoid any animal based fat like butter or cream, increase your intake of omega 3 and decrease your intake of omega 6, eat only organic, low consumption of cow milk, ban white processed flour and use wholegrain flour also in pasta and rice, and reduce your eating of cake and pastries to the minimum. The pleasure of eating would also be considered as an important asset to a balanced diet for the release of hormones like serotonin or dopamin, taking the time to eat at least 20 minutes and leave your fork on the plate between every bite, and have a thorough stress management so that your metabolism does not consider that you are in flight/fight situation and you don't need to stock up fat. We need glucids, lipids and proteins, only a question of balance.

Funny that this episode is just coming out because I have been on a quest to find bread (rolls, etc.) chips, crackers and salad dressings WITHOUT any of those seed oils. There are only 2 brands of salad dressings that I have found so far with olive oil used vs seed oils. Same with granola/breakfast bars. As for breads, chips and crackers I have found absolutely ZERO in the stores that fit the bill. To make matters even worse I went to Whole Foods & Fruitful Yield stores but still found nothing. Yes, these two stores sell organic foods but that only meant the Corn Oil, Sunflower Oil, etc. was organic not healthy. They are still seed oils and not what I want. When I go into a grocery store anymore all I see is garbage and, aside from fruits & veggies, very little actual "food" in my mind. While my search continues I wonder if I'm ever going to find healthy versions of these foods. The American food system isn't geared to keeping it's citizens well but rather rigged to keep us needing medications that put profits in drug companies. And while I know that sounds a bit like a political comment I still believe it to be true since more people in the country are overweight and take multiple medications. I also find it funny that the Food Pyramid has been updated suggesting that we eat less eggs & meat, and more of the bread, cereal and potatoes. For the record I am not overweight and do not take medications but rather I want to make sure to keep it that way.

@@PS-bs8oe Yes that is a great place in the summer months where I live but that's primarily for fruit & veggies. I can get those items organic at regular stores as well though. I already make my own bread on a regular basis and while I thoroughly enjoy doing that, nobody has the time to make all their own hamburger, hotdogs, tortillas or English muffins at home. He does have data and studies, watch his podcast or read his book. He goes way more in depth with each topic and cites his studies. Also many studies that people juxtaposed to his views champion are observational studies. So basically glorified surveys, not interventional studies that use the scientific method and prove or disprove their hypotheses. There are no interventional studies showing meat to be bad for you, only observational. Observational studies also don't take into account if the meat is processed, grass or grain fed, eaten alongside other processed foods or grains, etc. Eating grass fed and grass finished meats and cutting out a lot of foods that didn't exist when we were hunter gatherers will make you very healthy.

Love me some lard biscuits, but my heart... I read recently it's ok to drink whole milk, and that studies show that could shrink your waist. So I'm going with that. I seriously dislike fat-free milk! No processed foods as well. In the YEAR 2023 most people are becoming healthier in their off spring and their bodies are becoming healthier and minds are healthier as well. In our culture today - too much celebrity endorsements - too much advertising - too much consumption - too much excess sugars, refined carbs, refined starches - so much toxic chemicals in make up as well - I have seen a push for vegan make up on the market and also good to see that most products are backed by science as well - where they are cruelty free - best thing for your skin is sunshine and sea water - and being in nature - being off the grid is best for your mind as well - too much over stimulation for the mind - too bright the lights in my house - I cannot stand TV anymore - all loud and distracting - I like my DELL Laptop as it is set on quiet resolution and in harmony with my life - adds to my learning online - what adds to your life enhances your life - it does not distract - in Japanese culture people are strict with what they buy and what they eat - they do not over consume- they do not have large consumer debt - they live a modest life - they value education as oppose to materialistic things - a car enhances your life or it distracts from your life if you have car debt. Walking is so beneficial to health and exercise and outdoors - so many are trapped in the excess of celebrity culture - when GOD has created heaven on earth, nature, oceans and land and trees for us to live in - and animals to live in their natural habitat. In essence the bombardment of shopping malls, bright lights, credit cards, loud Gas Vehicles - cost of fuel going up as well - a car can also be beneficial as you have to travel as well. Everyone has to live. Everyone has to eat. Everyone has to travel and everyone has to buy what they need in order to live a rich life - being rich is about appreciating what you have. I like frugal living and making hand made things as well. Luxury items are designed to keep people poor as they become addicted to stuff - shopping in excess - shopping all the time- online shopping buying what they do not need - filling the pantry with stuff. Stuff is clutter - too much laundry - too much rubbish as well - so much rubbish in the landfills - so much plastic as well. I am free when I am off line as well - no telephone with annoying people to ring - no cell phone will annoying text messages - nice to have a standard white letter sent out - no more Christmas - I do not miss that either - we always pay our bills on time instead. Everyday is the same - cafe is excellent to support local fair trade coffee and local markets as well - and the supermarket is really good now in NZ far healthier options as well and recyclable packing - less plastic bags as well - less rubbish foods in our bodies - amazing shift in perspective.

Agree 💯 I’ve never been ill since going vegan. My mental health has improved. You can’t talk about this without also bringing in other elements such as the environment and the suffering too. He talks about natural stuff. How can stealing cow’s milk, or even drink it, be natural? This episode is rubbish. The worst I’ve heard. What about all the stuff in dairy that’s bad for us? It’s so biased. They should’ve had an opposing view on here too, to back up the benefits of being a vegetarian and veganism.

If cardiologists knew what they were talking about our country’s health wouldn’t be where it is today. I followed the advice of doctors for years and felt horrible. Skin issues. Sugar addiction. And I tried a Whole Foods vegan diet and felt deprived and cravings were insane. I was a vegetarian for 5 years before that even during my time in the military. Eating close to what Paul says I’ve never felt better. Things must die for other things to live. Just like one day fungus will break down our bodies and we will be plant food 💁🏻‍♀️ no one said stealing cows milk is all rainbows but it’s nutritious and seeds don’t wanna be eaten it’s a crime against nature to create and consume these oils

I lost interest when he quoted a study of 3 children which is a ridiculous sample size and no academic would give that credit. No mention of the huge amount of research around causes of bowel cancer or the fact that many children now have life threatening allergies to dairy and egg. The fact that populations with high ghee diets have a high incidence of heart disease. Heavily biased, lots of rambling. Everything he said has conflicting evidence and I find this kind of guest very alarming and your absolute confidence that everything you are saying is absolute fact very concerning. @@Witchmee While it’s true that many foods that use seed oils-such as packaged snacks and french fries-are unhealthy, they also tend to be high in refined carbohydrates, sodium, and sugar. But these other components, not the seed oils themselves, are the culprit behind weight gain and other negative health outcomes. What has also been consistent over many years of research is that the fats suggested as substitutes for seed oils-coconut oil and dairy fats-have few health benefits and have well-demonstrated downsides. Seed oils contain the two polyunsaturated fatty acids that are essential nutrients, without which your skin would become thickened and scaly with rashes and, eventually, you would die. They are linoleic acid-an omega-6 fat that has been unjustly maligned-and the much-loved omega-3 fat, alpha-linolenic acid. Canola oil is a particularly rich source of omega-3 fat.
@KT-dq5cp
@KT-dq5cp Год назад
@@Witchmee The fats in seed oils also bring benefits for cardiovascular health. These fats are mostly poly- and monounsaturated-and eating these types of fats lowers blood cholesterol. When people eat a canola oil-rich diet, their LDL cholesterol goes down. High blood cholesterol, together with inflammation, is a major cause of diseased arteries, so it makes sense that eating the kinds of fats found in seed oils reduces the risk of heart attacks. And consuming fats from seed oils is associated with less inflammation. You may have heard the opposite-that seed oils are pro-inflammatory because of their omega-6 fats-but that does not appear to be the case. In multiple clinical studies, higher consumption of omega-6 fats from oils has been correlated with lower rates of inflammation. It turns out that the saturated fats in coconut oil and animal fats are linked to inflammation. The heart-healthy, cholesterol-lowering, anti-inflammatory monounsaturated fat that’s in olive oil is oleic acid. Canola oil and high-oleic sunflower oil are also high in oleic acid.
@Witchmee
@Witchmee Год назад
