*Summary: How to pray tahajjud* Qiyam al layl: Praying before sleep Tahajjud: Pray after waking from sleep How to pray: Simple: Just make niyyah (intention) for 2 rakahs of Qiyam al layl or Tahajjud (which you pray) and then pray 2 rakahs. For Tahajjud (basic) you can wake up even 15 minutes before fajr, pray 2 rakahs for tahajjud and then wait for the Fajr prayer, and then pray. The prophet (saw) would pray 8 rakahs (2+2+2+2) of tahajjud plus 3 rakahs of witr. (Long and extended) Always start step by step. First, start with 2 rakahs then 4 then 8, and then witr. A most common problem that we face: Missed fard prayers. You can make up for the missed fard prayers at night. Recite the Qur'an at night. (Those are the most beautiful moments of tranquility) The prayer of the Prophet (saw): His standing was equal in time to his ruku', which was equal in time to his sujood. (Ash Shama'il Al Muhammadiyah 274) A quick tip: Make tahajjud interesting for yourself. The prayer at night is a time when you can develop a strong relationship with Allah SWT A quick tip: Set up your prayer place comfortable for yourself. Remember it's a very special meeting with Allah SWT...So make yourself comfortable. And lastly, make lots and lots of duas for you, your beloved ones, and this Ummah. JazakAllah Khair! Salaam

Also, how do you complete each 2 rakat set for tahajjud...is it like a regular two rakaat salah?

MashaAllah. This brought tears to my eyes. What a lovely sister! That's exactly what I do with my prayer area: spray some nice perfume, lay out the best clothes to meet with my Lord. And Allah (SWT) has spoken about this in the quran when He says: ۞ يَٰبَنِىٓ ءَادَمَ خُذُواْ زِينَتَكُمْ عِندَ كُلِّ مَسْجِدٍۢ O children of Adam, wear your adornment at every masajid (prayer spaces). O Allah help us in performing the best of deeds. ❤❤❤❤
