In this video I have shared my experience of Everest base camp trek with Cho La Pass & Gokyo
I did this trek Solo without Flight / Guide and without porter from Salleri.
Here is the details & itinerary:
Duration: 15 days (Kakarvitta to Kakarvitta).
Dated trek: May 2023
Trek Distance: 210 km (Salleri to Salleri)
Base Village: Salleri .
Maximum Altitude: 18,208 ft (5,550 m) at Kalapatthar and 17,598 feet ( 5364m) at base camp.
Difficulty level: 5/5 ( from Salleri )
Best Season: Summer (Mid Apr - June). Autumn (Sept - Oct). Snow (Nov - Dec).
EBC trek itinerary I followed without any Acclimatization
Day 1: Kakarvitta to Salleri (2364 m/ 7,755 ft) Drive: 370 km (14 hours) by Bus.
Day 2: Salleri to Surke (2300 m/ 7545 ft) Trek distance: 13 km (6 hours).
Day 3: Surke to Tok Tok (2760 m/ 9055 ft) . Trek distance: 14 km (7 hours).
Day 4: Tok Tok to Kyangjuma via Namche Bazaar (3790 m/ 12430 ft) . Trek distance: 15 km (8 hours).
Day 5: Kyangjuma to Shomare (4349 m/ 14268 ft) Trek distance: 14 km (9 hours).
Day 6: Shomare to Lobuche via Pheriche ( 4910 m/ 16108 ft). trek distance: 18 km ( 10 hours).
Day 7: Lobuche to Gorakshep (5160 m/ 16,929 ft), and same day Everest base-camp (5364 m/ 17,594 ft) and back to Gorakshep . Trek distance: 14 km (8 hours).
Day 8: Gorakshep to Kalapatthar (5550 m/ 18,208 ft), Trek distance: 1.2 km (3 hours).
Day 9: Gorakshep to Zonglha ( 4830 m / 15850 ft) - Trek distance: 15 km (9 hours).
Day 10: Zonglha to Gokyo via Cho La Pass (5420 m / 17782 ft) . Trek distance: 17 km (12 hours).
Day 11: Gokyo to Dole with Gokyo Ri (5357 m/ 17580 ft) . Trek distance: 14 km (9 hours).
Day 12: Dole to Namche Bazaar (3440 m/ 11286 ft). Trek distance: 11 km (8 hours).
Day 13: Namche Bazaar to Chheplung (2560 m/ 8398 ft) Trek distance: 37 km (11 hours).
Day 14: Chheplung to Salleri (2390m/ 7841 ft). Trek distance: 23 km (12 hours).
Day 15: Salleri to Kakarvitta (142 m / 465 ft) Drive: 370 km (14 hours) by Bus.
• Where can I get permit, and their cost ?
There are 2 check post at ‘Monjo’ on the trail (in between Phakding and Namche Bazaar),
Permit 1: Khumbu Pasang Lhamu Rural Municipality’ (Trek Card) fee 2000 NPR ( 1250 INR) at Tok Tok just 2 kilometers from Phakding.
Permit 2: for National Park Entrance Permit' fee 1500 NPR ( 937 INR) at Manjo. ( 3000 NPR for non-SAARC nations).
• Is there electricity? Can I recharge my device ?
Yes, you can charge your electronic device at every tea house but they will charge you right above from Lukla. They might take 100-300 NPR for an hour or full charge. Instead carry your portable solar panel or power banks wrapped in the woolen cloth to avoid discharge due to cold.
• What are the prerequisites or fitness required to do EBC, Cho La Pass & Gokyo ?
• I didn’t fly to Lukla, which made me trek long way; an addition of 100 km. Being very much laid and commercial, EBC, Cho La Pass & Gokyo will stand out to be a difficult trek with its ascends, long distance, rucksack on back.
