26:20 The insulated pipe inside the rocket port that you used to bring the uranium in? That's what melted, because of that lovely little thing you discovered where those ports ignore the insulated tag when it comes to transferring temperature to things inside their tile.

I think the magma in the rocket came from the insulated pipe that was on the liquid input port. That would explain why it melted so early cuss it was basically in a steel metal tile that was dumping its heat into it.

I'm currently rewatching the rime and the badlands series and I'm really happy your intro got more and more energetic over the years.

Using the move command to dump hot uranium bottles on the diamond seemed to work a lot better for me. No need to toss around liquids. Just get your uranium to almost max temp, deconstruct your refinery and move it. Just be sure to have a tile to catch the bottle so it doesn't drop on anything important.

This series is ridiculous. I love it.

If you're gonna build yet another rocket may I suggest put the tiles of refined carbon INSIDE the steam room just above the reactor. This way all the hot material can stay in the steam room rather than having to cool it down to work with it. Let the steam handle it (it'll be a bit hot at the start!)

You don't have to worry about melting the hatch. It's not possible. It claims to be made out of steel, but it's actually back by two tiles of neutronium. I believe they changed it for exactly this reason.

your rocket is gonna disintegrate, even with the tear open. The tear didn't used to need to be opened, but now it does. that's the only change.

Y'know, if you're looking for another ONI challenge, I would love to see you tackle the Baator World Gen mod. The challenge is strictly in the main, classic sized asteroid, but it presents some interesting challenges. I won't say what they all are, exactly. Part of the fun is in blindly discovering them. The description of the mod tells you everything you need to know. But I will say one thing: It isn't uncommon to find packets of gas (CO2 or sour gas, mainly) that are super compressed at ~70kgs per tile. A lot of the time, it's not too hard to corner build them out of existence. Don't do that. That's my challenge to you. I found it challenging, but if someone like me can set up something reasonably stable, I'm sure you can. I just think it would be fun to see how you tackle things differently than I did

the rocket door is completely immune to temperature changes, I made a rocket design once that used those two tiles as the wall of a steam room

This series inspired me to make my own Nuclear bomb I mean rocket hahaha. But I was able to melt the diamond tile above the door on two different rockets. I’m not sure if it was luck or it’s safe enough to do. Just thought you’d find that information useful. Love this series

It would probably be easier to set up the refinery outside the rocket and see the liquid in then out, you will have more space for cooling the refinery. Set the liquid to loop when attached to liquid tank in a vacuumed with the tile under the tank in a vacuumed, and have two loops. Loop one goes into the refinery heating it up and the second loop goes to the rocket. A little automation to keep the refinery from ever over heating the liquid, a little safety never scalded a dupe. Cut the line into the rocket and get things pre heated, 2k c was good for me but results may vary. Now connect the line into the rocket and leave the refinery queed up. The liquid begins melting the rocket inside while also letting you add more heat and equalize the heat from the outside at the same time.

"Quick Nuclear Reactor" ...because the standard ship refuelling setup was not going to be sufficient, oh no no no. And the magma is your pipes melting from sheer heat. Should have gone with actual *Insulation* or, yes, Tungsten. And put the refinery off of the floor! :D

the magma comes from melting ceramic pipes. got to go with wolframite. A little change was also introduced as when you let a building break and then repair it its temperature is reset to 45C.

9:25 It's maybe a bit of an exploit, but once the opener has been charged you can obstruct its view and it will still allow you to fire, as long as you don't reload the game, so you don't have to risk meteors getting in

Defrost the friend when you are ready to leave the whole colony through the tear. Leave them a rocket to find your starting colony

for getting a frozen dupe out of a hostile environment, undock a suit, move command it to where you're going to defrost them, and have them put it on? They'll be slow but probably faster than if they get scalded.

That's a good idea for the next series, send all resources and dupes but one to the temporal tear and let the next generation of dupes to conquest the dupeverse

Francis, at 23:40 you have magma inside the rocket because somehow, if you build insulated tile (of whatever material) inside the rocket and you let it run off-screen, the pipe would just heat up really fast (about the same as a radiant pipe). It melted your ceramic piping into magma.

if you put a permanent green signal to a conveyor meter it can act as a valve instead. allowing 1kg per packet through. Then you can turn the conveyor chute on and off to allow 1 kg packets at a time. 400kg of magma sounds like a ceramic pipe might have melted Don't forget that liquid reservoirs exchange heat with the tile under the bottom left of it. Great for melting things with liquids

Just a thought. when all is said and done maybe download a speed mod, set it to the highest you can get with out breaking physics and just leave the game one over night several times to just see what happens.

I once had a dupe (i even remember her name lol it was Ellie) that was anemic and because of my dumbness, infected with slimelung. i guess she was at -11 athletics and very, VERY slow. i needed to build a dedicated lavatory, fridge, mess table and a bed for her in a separate little place because she couldn't reach the fridge in half a cycle. it was such a hilarious view seeing it cost her 2000 calories just to reach the toilet hahahah

If you melt the hatch and create a pocket of space, you'd clearly need to open a new Temporal Tear to get back in.

Nikola had 3 points to spend which would have helped them. You can also deconstruct the pod they were in to make the map cleaner

The fallout came from the 800 degree uranium

Can you do a super bad dupe it eats worth 100 dupes, super slow, and every negative trait. The whole colony you build is to support this dupe. Early game would be impossible with it at the start so maybe edit the frozen friend.

Anyone else screaming "It was the ladder that melted!" Or is it just me? Edit: the first melting was the ladder. As temperatures skyrocketed it was the pipes.

you can heat uranium using rocket exhaust.

Maybe hook the bunker doors into ship power in a way similar to how the nuclear waste refueling pool is, just to make opening them for launch a bit faster

Please never use Ceramic pipes again they'll melt before Obsidian ones do. Tungsten liquid pipes are quite preferred and by that point Insulation should not be rare anymore.

You can drop the building temperature a little by building and deleting conduction panels behind the refinery.

You could retrieve the compressed igneous tile using flaking and get 100% of the mass. Just google abyssalite melter flaking method and you should find plenty of resources on it. I would specifically suggest superheating chlorine gas underneath the igneous tile for the most efficiency

I'll be really sad to see this series go! But already excited what's going to be next. Maybe pick up RimWorld again? :)

I believe you could have cooled down the metal refinery with conduction panels and temperature shift plates, but it would have been tricky.

Couldn't you melt the diamond tile above the door by actively cooling the steel pieces in the door? The heat transfer and speed of the cooling of the steel and heating of the diamond would need to be quite similar I think and it would take an awful lot of energy to cool the steel. But then again diamond takes so much more temperature to melt, the only thing that might make it possible is the thermal mass maybe. But it would be quite an undertaking for just one tile. Keeping the steel at a constant temperature while simultaneously heating up the diamond tile. Hmmm

To melt the rocket wall, could you make tile heater to heat up thermium hot enough to melt the adjacant wall? Like.. the same idea as building a pump out of hot metal to make nuclear fallout

If you melt the hatch of the ark/generational rocket, wouldn't that essentially be the same as taking them through the rift? For all intents and purposes, they are gone. They can only interact with the outside world through inputs and outputs, and only if there is someone outside to build the connectors.

Too bad you can't power the new rocket with hamster wheels. Gives the dupes something to do, and it would be silly.

For the debris spike, if you have one dupe, couldn't you queue up the whole thing at priority 1, then from the bottom up do blocks of priority 9 down to 2? Then after they finish the 2 block you change the next batch of 1's from 9~2 again? That way you're not placing one block at a time? You have to manage priority levels, and not sure if this would save time or not.

couldnt you place diamond temp plates on the in/outs for air and liquid and the left of the door and then maybe ice temp plates next to the diamond so the Diamond temp plates are really cold now that im type this not sure that how those work meh. like i know that might make the whole process longer as it might leach heat from the 1 or 2 block next to them but would help insure that they dont melt

Why would you use ceramic pipes?? the temperatures you're working with melts ceramics. You need Obsidian lol

Heyy francis I just want to ask If you dont want to try the frostpunk game. I think it would be perfect for you. It is similar to the games that you usually try it out there are lots of challanges that you can do IF you want to.

Why Just dont use insulation for melting rocket? I think you have some resin to do it.

Shouldn't you have used the volcano for power and nuclear waste for rads? So this asteroid would work all by itself without dupe input

Cant you use this method of heating to make that 1 million kg previous lava block liquid lava again to keep its mass? And then harvest the liquid lava
