Ep 49 - Could a Ninja Be Hiding in This Micro Apartment?🏠🥷 - 12.2sqm / 131.3sqft 

1. There is no kitchen, not even a kitchenette. 2. There is no storage space. In particular, there is no toilet paper storage that Usui tremendously cares about. 3. There is no shoe rack where you can put your shoes or closet where you can hang your clothes. 4. I don't think that piece of wood shown at 6:31:is a door. Tips: 1) Knock on that piece of wood. If there is echo, then there is empty space behind it. 2) Measure the accessible space. Do the length and width already measure what you said they were at 1:44? If they do, then what you see is what you get: a 12.2 squared meters micro-apartment. The monthly rent is cheap, but due to the many problems of this apartment, I will recommend against renting it. The big window is actually a sliding door. It opens up to the street which makes it a little insecure. You basically can't leave it open coz strangers can easily get in your home from outside. The smaller window doesn't look bright or airy. I don't mind the small bathroom and the stainless steel kitchenette though. It's wide enough for a single bed, perhaps a small desk too.

Dear Usui-san, it appears this apartment isn't quite finished yet! Perhaps the builders didn't have time to put in another door perhaps? The slab of wood appears to be blocking what seems to be an entrance to another room. A word of advice: you might want to ask whomever is in charge of this apartment/complex!

Spider-Man needs to carry a tool box with him. My curiosity would have taken the screws out of that piece of wood to see what's on the other side. 😂 A lot of the apartment looks unfinished. No storage for anything. Shoe storage....nope. Kitchen storage.....nope. Toilet paper storage.....nope. Any storage at all.....nope It is kind of funny that there are bars on the window but yet anyone can walk right into the sliding glass door area lol. 🤔 I like the newness of the apartment but at least add a door so the Ninjas have access to the bathroom 😂🤣😁 Thank you again for sharing! For the size and location, this is nice and cheap. It does not feel as cramped as other micro apartment. It is cramped, lol. But I like the layout. The large patio window help with making it feel big. I guess that panel is hiding some utilities or an archway to connect 2 rooms.

The boarded up door is screwed on, you can buy a screwdriver and visit the neighbour whenever you like.

That Ninja door is unusual. The odd ceiling corner looks like the underneath of a staircase. This kitchen is the most basic with only a metal counter and sink. But overall another interesting micro apartment. Usui-San, may I ask if you will consider creating a Question and Answer video to host your subscribers’ questions about micro-apartments and living in them. Not a bad place, but it’s a bit lacking in the kitchen area. Could be tight with a washer and may block the patio door somewhat. The bathroom is quite tight and no place for toilet paper! Still, I like this one and the rent’s pretty good. Thank you for sharing it with us.

This flat is good for someone that doesn't cook. The price is good for what it offers and the amount of space. Looking forward to our next video. 🍀

I think the blocked doorway would have gone into the stairwell for the apartment above, which is the section you can see in the corner. Very odd and likely a later addition and still to be finished. The loft bed would work if you had it on that wall but nearer the door and air conditioner. The tiny window would be above your desk then allowing air while you work with minimal disturbance. Tiny, cheap and with a bit of thought would make a nice home, thank you Usui.

Not liking the boarded up door, and the views from the window and door on the side. Everything feels a little awkward. I really like your micro apartment, Usui. Very good layout and also great price compared to many of these other apartments. You made an excellent choice with your apartment 😊👏

😻Features you may have missed: sink is perfectly situated for watching out the window. Nothing is as cooling as sitting in the sink in the summer. And the door and inverted stairs on the ceiling are curious. Nothing makes a cat as happy as being curious. The purrfect place for this Apartment Cat.

Like the color of the walls. Stainless steel "kitchen" . Feels very cramped in the bathroom. Sink is on top of the tub and the toilet is on top of the sink. Who knows what that wooden door is for. Probably get a shoe shelf and hooks to go on the wall for jackets and umbrellas. I can see a fold up sofa there. Definitely need a induction stove top. Wood was very nice. Didnt like the view seeing the next apartment. Did like the windows and the blinds giving you privacy. There is potential here, to make it work.but it looks like its not finished yet. Every scary movie that has a hidden door leads to no good. Well, this door isn't hidden, but😮😮

What I love about your channel is that the micro apts leave so much open to the imagination! And the small spaces force you to think creatively. While this apt is a great value in terms of cost/sq ft, it requires you to purchase appliances. The toilet is also very basic and lacks the nice features of a standard Toto toilet. Still, the apt is a compelling bargain.

The ninfa door was probably another access door. The double door next by the kitchenette seems to face the public road. That shape in the ceiling is a stair to another apartment. Or maybe that apartment had originally 2 floors, and that's the reason of the ninja door.

This micro apartment is for the true minimalist. I think it might work with careful selection of storage solutions for bare necessities. I don’t know if one would cook much or get takeout/eat out nearby, but I think a small refrigerator is essential for snacks and beverages. I wonder if the bathroom had to be so very very small, but it does have a bathtub when many do not. I would question neighborhood safety, with a first floor apartment with the frosted glass patio doors, but perhaps in Japan it isn’t as much of a concern. The price is very good, does it include utilities like water, electricity and internet? Thank you for sharing the beautiful flowers you see when you visit micro apartments, also, I do love the fairy pig you happened upon in your travels.

There were so many issues with this place. Mostly, the large piece of plywood nailed up over some kind of opening and not knowing to what. It doesn't look like they put much time into finding ways to make the place livable. Storage is lacking and you definitely feel the other apartment(s) intruding on you with the stairs coming in from the ceiling and the random piece of plywood nailed on the wall. In general the space in nice but the details make it lacking. It is definitely another interesting place. I mostly come for the unique and interesting spaces out there and you do find them. But then there are a few that are really done well and quite nice too. Thank you for showing the space.

An interesting apartment. On the plus side, I love that it’s new. It has almost everything you need for a micro lifestyle. The sliding glass doors had me excited for a moment, until i saw that they lead directly to what could be a very public space. If you want to get some air, you have to slide those doors (or open the small windows on the opposite side of the unit). It almost feels like a safety hazard. Would it be very easy for a thief to break through them?

Entryway has potential for a bench with shoe storage. Kitchen is a good amount of space, but needs at least 1 cabinet/ shelf and appliances (cooktop & fridge). Stainless sink is not a pretty look. I'd want a hurricane/ monsoon shutter for the sliding door. Good drying rod for laundry. Window for cross breeze ventilation is nice. Yeah, that's a door plug. Wonder where to. Mysterious! Good bathroom/ toilet. I'd put a Murphy bed that rests on the bench when open, desk/ table next to mystery door, wall mounted or projection TV, and as many shelves/hidden storage as possible. 8 out of 10.

I like this apartment. There is much to be done, but it's got potential. Starting at the bathroom: the door opens out so I would build a cabinet unit at the end of the sink counter that extends out to the end of the door when it's open since that space is unusable anyway. I would put a piece of board behind it to make a wall there. It would start at the end of the sink and go to the end of the cabinet unit. This would give space to attach shelves on the kitchen side and hooks on the bathroom side. Maybe a nice floor length mirror there, too. I wouldn't have the big washing machine. There are small portable machines on Amazon that could be stored either in the tub or under a raised bed. I do love a raised bed for all that storage. The bed would go on the hall window wall starting at the entry wall which should leave a bit of space for some sort of storage unit or desk at the ninja door. Since no washing machine in the kitchen I would have a small folding table and chair that could be moved outside in nice weather. Looks like an iron gate or fence there to the right meaning no through traffic. So maybe even a bistro set could stay outside. Sliding door doesn't bother me as there are poles to put on the floor track to stop it from being opened. Other side of entry door goes a shoe box. Looking over the genkan again. This may sound weird but I would perhaps, just maybe, build a little floor to inset there to bring it all up to one level. Would make using that space by the sliding door much safer. Lots of plants and colorful fabric for boho feel for me. If only I were younger, smaller, and understood Japanese... Thanks for another great tour!

I like it, I like the flooring and the wall paper. It’s bright and has a nice outlook. The bathroom is a bit on the small size, but you’re not in there for very many minutes of each day. The kitchen bench is a good size, better than many we've seen, there’s room for food preparation as well as cooking and washing up. A small fridge would fit under. I wouldn’t put in a washing machine, I’d use a laundromat, and put shelving where the machine would otherwise go. One of the nicer ones I think. 😊

I think it's not finished, that "ninja door" can hide big surprises.

Usui-san, thanks for another interesting apartment. I would prefer a 2-unit (toilet/bath) bathroom and an upgrade to the kitchenette with a ventilator over the work surface and a mirror in front of the sink. I would be concerned with noise if that "ninja room" on the ceiling is concealing a stairway. Otherwise, not a bad price for its proximity to a station.

Thank you for taking time out of your busy schedule to indulge us with what your country has to offer in terms of living space. The price was great, but that wooden door would make me pass. The bathroom was cramped and once you put a washing machine there the space becomes super tight. I don't know how you find these amazing spaces, but you are doing an awesome job keep up the good work until next week take care and be blessed.

This apartment is a good option for a person living alone. It is on the first floor. I wonder if I will use the door or ask for a key to enter directly by the Kitchen. It is a very convenient place, in a quiet neighborhood, with a good connection to all of Tokyo. You are finding good places now. I was only worried about the wood panel.

If you treat it like a hotel room it is passable. Especially since looks like that bump next to the “ ninja” door may be a staircase. Can you imagine sleeping with people walking up and down it at all hours? But all the points go the walls and floor.

Dear Usui-san, this apartment is really mysterious. The kitchen is incomplete, the bathroom is much too small and then of course the question: is it a door to another room? Is it a secret door? Too many unanswered questions that will only be answered once the apartment is finished. And if a ninja does live behind the door, then all that remains to be said is: Banzai, Usui-san!! 😊

That house definitely has a ninja room. No doubt about it. No internet is a big deal but most micros have a set design, while this one lets you do your own thing. That's neat.

A decent place. Does need some shelves above the sink in the kitchenette type area. Could put a small cafe table and chair outside, and after the washing machine is in, might have space to set a shoe rack next to it. The small bathroom might drive a bigger person like me a little crazy, but not a bad place. Really surprised at the price being that low, but I guess if they are not providing a washing machine, induction, hood, shelves, they had saved some money so...

I find, it is a really good price, for the apartment itself and location. I like such design. It looks like it was a part of a walk-in-shop , probably together with rooms behind "Ninja-door".

Door painted a color similar to the walls would make it disappear. I’d like shelves for a wardrobe. I like this apartment. The stainless “kitchen” worries me a bit. It will require wiping down all the time to look nice. I would get a small fridge and cart/s to store food and dishes. After 46 years of cooking for a family, I will be happy to not cook much.

Good space, with possibilities to arrange desk and bed easily. I don’t mind the kitchen, it’s a pretty large counter space to place cooker. Though I don’t like that there is 0 privacy.

Your preview showed promise. The reveal shows an apartment that somehow misses the mark. Mysterious Ninja door. Cramped toilet and bathroom. No kitchen exhaust fan. Patio door opens to the street. Good price, but not for me.

Thank you (and Spiderman)or the video. Have you ever considered sofa beds? A sofa that turns into a bed? There are several different types and price levels. I saw a really nice one that was based in the same type of expandable sofa/bed conversion found in camper trailers that could probably be made. Or perhaps buy one that the back folds flat to make a bed when you go to sleep. Just an idea.

I'm glad to see the toilet is in a bathroom and not by the kitchen! However, I will not live where there are bars on the window! Firefighters here in the US call those bars, "Grillers" because people can't get out and the fire department can't get in when there's a fire!

300?! That's like a steal. The price and place looks at least better than in the US since I'm poor and don't need a lot of space. Also, if only the window doors were just regular windows.

Interesting! The mystery is that odd plywood looking screwed in panel (?) and whatever is it covering up? My non imaginative mind might think a hot water heater, or even the breaker box? Hmmm! Well, the rest of the apartment is interested and not complicated and those floors are nice. It's cheap thus no extra amenities like a stovetop or cabinets for storage. Thank goodness the toilet paper has a place to be stored in the bathroom. So because it's close to a major station, I will assume things like eating places and convenient stores are close as well. So, if no one is bothered by the mystery panel and the window looking out to the neighbors, the odd ceiling in that one corner, it looks like a decent place at a decent price, and invest in the rest. 🙂

Even though I'm disabled and have troubles with stairs. I don't like first floor places. I still remember living in a first floor apartment. Even with curtains, folks will TRY to look into the apt. And it is worse if you have your curtains open. For thieves, they can 'case' the apt to see if anything valuable is in the place. . That last setup for the furniture. You would be sitting on the foot of the bed to be able to use the desk. If you placed the loft with the head right by the ac. You would be able to turn around and look out that sliding door. And you could put a small dresser for clothes under that weird ceiling bit.

This apartment looks quite nice. The genkan is a bit small and the kitchenette needs some storage and a stove. The living room looks quite good sized, but I would like to be able to put a desk in there as well. The bathroom is really small, but it contains everything you need. Where does the ninja-door lead to? Very myterious.

This apartment is not bad. You can easily cover up that wooden board. You can fit a desk, small bed and fridge in the unit. I like that there is a sink in the bathroom so that you don’t have to use the kitchen sink to brush your teeth.

The good thing is you can open the big window and put a folding chair outside to relax in fresh air and maybe sunshine. The negative thing, looks insecure, you cannot leave the window open without paying attention. The wooden planks at the wall would make me feel very uneasy, just a few small screws are securing this thing. What is behind and will there be an ax murder chopping his way inside.. the obstacle at the ceiling is the underneath of a stairway. Maybe at night you can hear steps from above..

I don't understand why there are bars on the little window but no barrier of any kind on the big sliding glass door! Personally I wouldn't feel safe with such a large sliding glass door opening directly out on to the street like that. Plus you have to provide your own cooktop, and there's not any storage whatsoever, and that ninja door is also really sketchy. Fortunately the price reflects all that. But I still wouldn't choose it.

It’s simple, but very low on storage. I think that you could get some storage furniture, like a bed with drawers. That laundry pole…no thank you. I need a washlet though. I have two in my house and honestly, how do people live without them? But it’s a good deal for the price. I wish we had affordable housing like that here.

I will pass on this one. This is the first apartment that doesn't have a cooking heater. Very bare area. No cabinets, refrigerator, or storage. I wonder what that other boarded up door will be used for?

I would like it better if it wasn't on the ground floor. But I do like the wood floor.

Minimalist, I propose to abolish the bed and use a bag hanging on the wall like the astronauts in the International Space Station. Nice steel sink, great floor, great price. The washing machine must be tiny, alternatively use the kitchen sitting on a normal sized washing machine.🤔

It lacks space for things.... MAYBE with a few very carefully placed shelves and very smart custom made furniture it could be somewhat liveable... problem that there is no extractor for the "kitchen" area... a pity because it seems somewhat cozy and not too bad...

Nice sunlight. No storage at the door or in the kitchen. Kitchen would work for a minimalist. Like the stainless steel. A fridge could go under the sink. Washing machine would go in a strange place. It's right there at the door and frosted glass door. Loft bed wouldn't work in the living room. Getting a bed, a desk, and a chair might not be possible. Like the hideaway laundry pole. Non-private view out the window. Ninja door is a wee bit weird. Is putting the light switches for the bathroom outside the bathroom usual? Bathroom's a wee bit small. I'd have to say no to this apartment. It has too many minuses and not enough pluses.

Hi Usui, now I’m so curious about the ninja door. I won’t feel comfortable till I find out what’s behind it. Could you find out from the landlord what that space is? An update video would be great! Outside the sliding doors looked like it was fenced. So maybe there is more security than it seems. I really like the place, just too curious 😮 about that ninja door.

Larger then your place with many options, for only a few yen more then what you’re paying. Find out about the crazy door 😂 & when it will be complete with WiFi & then grab it. 😊
