@@KittyGrizGrizFor some reason I was thinking of Bell's Amusement park. Do you remember the Phantasmagoria ride? We used to get out of the cars and walk around, we would swap seats, it was a blast!😂
@@robmatlock7675 Yes! I loved that ride too! Always wanted to get in the part of seat closest to the inside of the wheel so I wouldn’t get squished. Remember the ride operator asking “Do you want to go faster??!” 📢 over the loudspeaker, in a crazy laughing voice with “Wipe Out” song in the background. “Zingo” the wooden🎢 was my favorite as well as the “Round Up”, the big wheel where everyone is standing up in separate compartments and facing each other. The g force would make you climb up higher as it spun. The “Bullet” ride too. Have you been to Elitch Gardens in Denver? On a summer vacation driving back to Tulsa from WY, where I had flown out earlier to stay with grandma-girl cousins at age 14, me/parents visited & I rode the roller coaster by myself. We are “thrill seekers” haha, thanks for the memories reminder.
I will never forget the night I watched Jim Croce play midnight special. I was in shock when I heard about his plane crash 3 months later. Jim was a major loss to the music world. Similar to losing Buddy Holly.
A real loss. He was so good. Same with John Denver. Taken in their prime, perhaps they were meant to be crystallized in their time like that. May all 3 R.I.P.
When I was 10, Drift Away was constantly on the radio. I was too young to appreciate his talent at the time, but I can now recognize how amazing Dobie Gray is. What a voice!
wow such a flashback ! i totally remember this show ! Billy Preston🎉❤ Gladys Knight are you kidding ? what a time to be a teen in great music 🎉 thanks everyone for shaping who i am as an old timer now❤❤❤
Was Teenager @ Wolfman Jack was all that we could get on the radio at nite, and he would play all these great music.. Lots of parking /partying to Wolfman Jack..... 😊😊😊😊 hese
THIS best of was a showcase of the great music spanning generations, and capturing the many different styles. And what did they all have in common? Great hooks, lyrics, melody and playing/singing. Close your eyes and your back in time to right before you got your driver's license, hip to coming of age yet still riding in parent's car and listening to these great hits on the radio. Great stuff!!
Aaaand we’re on to 1974!!! Only 4 more weeks until the episode I’ve been waiting for: episode 53!!😍😍😍Can’t wait!!! Also excited for episode 54!! Thank you so much, Team Midnight Special, for these amazing weekly full episodes!! They are amazing and I hope you’ll do these for the entire series!!👏🏾👏🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾
@@PhilDietzHahaha right!! And what do we have to blame it on?? Laziness of TPTB?? No market for that many episodes in a season anymore?? The world may never know🤣🤣.
Best of yhe best sellers of the year. I remember listening to the New Years countdown of the year's top selling hits, this episode reminded me of that. For non members, Million Seller's 2 is also Awesome! 😊
Jeez the performances here are all over the top. But the Brother Louie by Stories hit a cord with me. Haven’t heard the song in a long time on the air waves let alone seeing them playing it live. The guitar work is exceptional. Now I’m ready for the weekend.
I can't help but cry my eyes out every time I remember watching these timeless classics with family and friends no longer here like Wolfman Jack. He's to my prepubescent years as what Captain Kangaroo/ Mr.Rodgers was to my adolescence.
The next one from the following year sounds interesting. The episode for January 11, 1974 was hosted by Dr. Hook and the Medicine Show, and also features appearances from Canned Heat, El Chicano, Jo Jo Gunne, Leo Sayer, The Spinners, and Livingstone Taylor.
Please send me back in a time capsule to that year so I can relive the decade again along with my friends, and the good times and all my old girlfriends and all the muscle cars we used to drive I’ll be ready in 30 seconds to go back
Has anyone else noticed while on this channel (I’ve seen it elsewhere too), that almost immediately after posting something, the “poster” has several likes or very closely after writings? Hmmm…just wondering as I’m a very curious Kitty 🐈⬛.
I was 14 when this series started, turned 15 during the season. I've watched 49 episodes and don't remember seeing any of them when they originally aired. Saturday swim practice (or meets) came early in those days; I think that's what kept me from staying up late Friday. And not disturbing Mom's sleep. I do remember seeing some episodes of this series in maybe 1975 and beyond.
The show went down easy, like 100-year-old whiskey with a smooth Al Green kick. Then, goosebumps from the Spinners... gone ' Superfly' by Cutis Mayfield. Thank you Midnight Special for the Million Dollar Sellers.
So many great songs. Especially enjoyed Jim Croce. Such a shame he died not long after this was taped. The Spinners were amazing, too, that was a SHOW. Love the dancing. Gladys Knight sang that song like her heart was broken just yesterday. Dr Hook was a scream. Glad they finally made it to the cover of Rolling Stone.
I been looking for this episode for years!!! I thought it was lost in the wind. I will never forget that particular Friday night for as long as I live!!🎉😊!!!
This is the best channel that I have ever subscribed to. So glad I did. I am having the time of my life. Enjoying a trip to the past. Thank you Midnight Special!
Yes yes yes I remember this episode like it was yesterday. I was 14 and wanted to watch Midnight Special just bc the Spinners were on it and I think i was trying to record it on my radio cassette player, and i think i got it just b4 the tape ran out. I was crazy about "Could It Be I'm Falling In Love " when it was released in '72 and still love it to this day. Though the guys may have left this earthly sphere, their music will last always in our hearts. Rest well fellas. You were definitely 'one of a kind ' who gave us a 'mighty love'of your musicianship.
I watched Midnight special in television over RPN 9 Channel in the Philippines in the 70's. These singers are very popular then I couldn't forgot their names until now!
Approximately 2000 years ago God did something as a man, Jesus, that obviously God can't do: die...die on a bloody cross at Calvary, incur the Father's wrath for all mankind, take our judgment, and then offer everlasting life for free because Christ already paid the price we never could. Now, history, secular atheists with phd's all agree Jesus of Nazareth lived and was executed as a criminal, he claimed to be God in the flesh...so, God actually did quite a lot for you.
Hi Stephanie, Part 2 aired, December 20, 1974. That's the million sellers of 1974. I think there is a part 0ne of million sellers 1974. If there is I would like to see it.
Dan Hartman is a hell of a musician with righteous groove and lots of ideas. The drummer is groovin easy and so perfect, Edgar "I just bought an Arp" is funny and v good , the gitar man, not so much. It is so good to jump in Herman's Way Back Machine
