Cellular Jail, also known as Kalapani Jail, is one of the most important national monuments from the days of the Indian freedom struggle.
In this episode, you will see the full history of the Cellular jail with Mr. Pradeep Deswal Ji.
Pradeep Deswal ji is an Executive Engineer at a college in Dwarka, Delhi & has very deep knowledge of Freedom fighters of India. He also has a RU-vid Channel - Rastra Vandana by Pradeep Deswal in which he has made several videos on Freedom Fighters.

The Cellular Jail is an old colonial prison situated in Port Blair the capital of Andaman and Nicobar islands. Constructed by the Britishers during their colonial rule in India, the jail was used particularly to exile Indian political prisoners. It was used to house many notable freedom fighters such as Vinayak Damodar Savarkar, Batukeshwar Dutt and Sachindra Nath Sanyal.
The prison is now a memorial to the political activists and freedom warriors from India who fought for the country’s independence.

I had tears in my eyes 2 times while watching Randeep Hooda's Savarkar movie. 1. When #Savarkar shown walking through the #Andamanjail passage and in the background #VandeMataram #song was played. 2. When his wife and brother came to see him in jail. The dialogue goes as, "हमारा १ परिवार देश के लिये बलिदान होगा, पर देश के हजारो परिवार आझादी कि खुली सांस तो ले सकेंगे." Sir, The reason for V shape or the 7 wings is as follow: These type of Jails are called "Panopticon" which was disigned by the English Philosopher Jeremy Benthem to instigate "Discipline" and "security" in prison. As we see in the architecture that there is one central office that connects all the 7 wings of the jail and the Jailer sitting in the central office can see all the wings all the barracks from a single place, so all the prisoners would have a fear that they are being watched even if there is no Jailer there, as the central office usually used to be dark. So all the prioners would not dare to escape and remain in order as they always are in doubt of being supervised. Britishers designed these Jails to control the prisoners with less Manpower and psychologically controlling our Freedom Fighters.

It was impossible for the jailer to keep a watch on all the prisoners at the same time, but due to the possibility that anyone can be watched from a single point our freedom fighters were psychologically moulded to act as if they are under constant surveillance.

Speechless. Never thought that I will have tears in my eyes while watching an episode of @visa2explore 🙏 My son is currently 3 but I will make sure he watches this episode once he enters his teens so that he realises at an early age that how people have suffered inhumane torture and laid down their lives for our freedom and I think every parent should do this.

I am still watching this video, tears flowing from my eyes and it brought me a thought about we the citizens of India "how disrespectful we have become and are becoming with time towards our country's independence". My koti koti naman to the immeasurable sacrifices made by the sons of Bharat. I feel sad when I see how ungrateful we have become. Unfortunately, the political stooges of that time are being worshipped and lauded in our books and media; but the ones who shed their blood are pushed to obscurity.

MY KOTI KOTI NAMAN 🙏🏻....No words ....tears rolling from eyes... freedom has not come cheap...this is the bitter truth...what all these freedom fighters did for azaadi is beyond our imagination...I salute each and everyone from the bottom of my heart and just wish we value our freedom and not take it for granted....HARISH SIR ..to be there and see that in person must have given you goosebumps...the torture place ...the phassi deck ....being inside that prison for even 5 minutes must be a pain to realise that our "VEERS" fought there without proper food and inhuman condition..."JAI HIND" " BHARAT MATA KI JAI"🇮🇳🇮🇳🇮🇳

Please don't fell under the trap that "Bina kharag bina Dhaal, sabarmati ke sant" type narratives. These are true unsung heros whose supreme sacrifices makes us free Bharat.
