Hi, this was an amazing hike: steep and rocky trail offering fantastic views. It certainly was a challenge especially considering the weather conditions. It was fun to watch your video. Best regards from Germany, Christiane and Werner

Congratulations. My wife and I just went up Tuckerman Ravine to the Summit on August 31, 2020. I wish I had thought about coming down the road because going down Tuckerman was TORTURE. It took us 14 hours round trip and my body was totally spent. My legs are still sore. We met a Ranger on the way down who told us that Mt. Washington is one of the harder climbs anywhere. He said people come here to train for Mt. Everest, which I can really understand. We have done Kilimanjaro, Everest Base Camp, Inca Trail to Machu Picchu, Grand Canyon, and several state highest peaks. Nothing was as hard as Mt. Washington. So once again congratulations. It's all downhill from now on.

That’s great that you guys made it up and down Tuckerman. Our friends decided to go down the trail and said it was really hard on the knees (one fell a few times). It was probably a good idea that we didn’t realize how hard it would be or we may not have tried it. We were prepared in terms of equipment by bringing rain jackets, sweatshirts, trekking poles, and many bottles of water but too inexperienced to understand how challenging it would be. The last 1/2 mile before the summit was relentless. If we go back we would start earlier around 6 or 7am because it was almost dark by the time we got back to the car. Thanks for watching our video and commenting.

@@yayeegomola7470 My husband and I went up Tucks last winter, 2020, pre spring to watch the 'kids' ski down the bowl. We didn't go much further than that. Too much ice, too much STEEPNESS and basically no reason to. Been to the summit via all kinds of trails so decided to live to see another day by hiking back down very beautiful Tucks to our cozy lodge room. Great job going up for anyone who survives it....

I hiked this last week & met the nicest family from Quebec with 5 & 6 year old boys, who trotted past me & were playing tag on the summit when I arrived. Humbling experience😊

Everyone PLEASE read the 10 essentials before going on a major serious hike. Then you will be prepared for rain/steepness / slippery rocks that destroy your time SCHEDULE. You all, each person, will have a HEADLAMP that will save you from calling 911. It gets dark in the woods an hour before the flatlands. Happy trails!!

I wonder if say if had a bike stashed at the summit if would be able to glide down on that, then from the Auto Road base about a 3 mile ride back to Pinkham.

We thought about that but I think it would be too steep to ride a bike. In fact, I think you can only ride bikes up and must have a ride to bring you back down. The road is very narrow with some blind curves so it would be dangerous.

@@yayeegomola7470 Every year, except for COVID 2020, there has been a bike race up that auto road. It's amazing to see those strong people pedal those bikes up there, I would feel so awesome if I could do it, but I would be DEAD after a mile since I'm an old grandmother now. I have NOT seen any of those cyclists riding DOWN the road. I bet the brakes would be an issue.

Bikes aren’t allowed on way down because they end up using brakes so much that wheel rims heat up and cause tire tube to blow out. I’ve seen this happen on the Mt. Ascutney auto road.

Thus the only way to ride down it brakeless on a bike would be on a fixie, or on a regular bike on a cold, clear, windless day with temps 30 or below, or starting in the teens at the summit since it would warm up nearer the base.

I live in fla. I went up the cog train last aug. It was like another planet compared to south fla. Congestion. Then road trip thru vermont. I'm 68 but in great shape. I would like to hike. I see 25 videos of hikers, but, walking up the rock trails, etc. How about stopping to use bathroom? #1or#2. What do hikers do ? I'll look for your answer before i fly up there. Thanx 🎶🎸🎼

There are outhouse type bathrooms at the Hermit Lake Shelter, which is about half way. There were also porta-pottys at the summit (pre-pandemic you could use the real ones inside at the visitor center).

Gary I did this, old grandmother, hike when I was in my 60s. Now I am 73 and I could still do it. Why? Because I never stopped. If you stop because "I'm too old" and sit...and sit...watch video....arthritis will sneak into your bones when you aren't looking and then you're screwed. As for potty? I call them 'shovel stops' because my crazy body likes to do serious business in the mountains. I bring baby wipes in my back pack and stainless steel shovel I got at REI. The shovel is to be polite and bury my serious business. It just takes a few seconds and done. I love the wipes because they are wet like a wash cloth. As for a quick wiz...it's just that. I find a tree I scooch down and i'm done. Now the men stand up so EVERYONE knows what's going on. OK thats fine, we all do it. But when us ladies scooch down we are invisible, and it just takes a few second no longer then the men; and no I don't need a baby wipe for that. Don't ask why I just don't. Hope this helps.
