Been enjoying you guy’s content lately! I’m a new sub, I try to catch as much as I can. Me and my family are coming out to playa next month for a week. Has dengue fever really increased this year? We were there twice last year in Feb and Sept, and heard very minimal talk about it.
Thank you Jeremiah we appreciate you! Found this on poresto.net, "Quintana Roo ranks fourth nationwide with 793 cases of dengue so far this year, with two deaths." But then the article goes on to say the cases started to decrease in December 2023 after having high numbers throughout the year. I actually got dengue in Oct 2023 shortly after we arrived, but there are a lot of people that have lived here for years who have never gotten it. The city has started fogging here more for mosquitos. Many locals don't make a big deal of it when we ask. Honestly, I'd say to not worry too much, but to wear deet repellent if going into any jungle areas. Hope you and your family enjoy your time out here! Let us know if you have any more questions.
