Agreed. I always said the same for the show when it was on. This show, this group of brilliant actors, Dan Fogelman, all of them, hit every note, touched all of us and has been the best show on TV in decades. I absolutely LOVE these in depth conversations with Sterling, Mandy and Sullivan! The BEST!
That Was Us podcast captures the essence of This Is Us - so many incredible deep meaningful conversations but also filled with moments that make you laugh so hard 🤣 Little Lonnie scenes break our hearts every time😭 You can see the inner child of Kevin Pearson in Justin's performance, so incredible
All the actors who are playing the younger and older versions of each other are so phenomenal! The mannerisms they pick up on and voice inflections that stay consistent regardless of which actor is playing the character... chef's kiss! I'm so impressed with how well they do at that - especially the kids, who presumably have the least experience on the job.
I was 6:26 in before I realized Chris's glasses were round and square! 😂😂 Couldn't figure out what was causing me to go, "What is up?" So funny. Another amazing episode...gets better each week! ❤❤❤
I just rewatched the series and skipped Randall's performance because i remembered being embarrassed for him but after this I went ba k to watch it and omg it's hilarious. Beth is the best haha
As a Black Man I in the 10th grade I purposely chose that I no longer wanted to be known as the “smart one” anymore, and thus having everyone asking me for the right answers. So I feel what Sterling is talking at the beginning of this episode about Black people’s experience in the public school system
Luv hearing their analysis of each episode, bts tidbits, their own personal, real life stories (thank you for sharing), and the deep philosophical discussions. BEST podcast ever!!! 🥰 (Tuesdays cannot come fast enuf!)
Thank you all so much for this amazing fun & helpful podcast ❤ ! And Chris: 1. i looked up the emotions wheel and will print one. 2. I wrote down the quote: your mind is a dangerous neighbourhood. Don't go their by yourself. Thank you so much ❤. In every episode somebody is saying something that is really helping me , that makes me feel seen & less alone ❤ . What an awesome project! Keep it up!
Re watching a TIU just crying and laughing... The first time i watched it was so overwhelming all i did was cry every episode.. Maybe my heart is little healed tgis time around .
I'm still rewatching the episode before watching the "That Was Us" episode, so I don't know yet if any of this comes up in the pod, but... This episode contains the only 2 continuity errors I've ever noticed in the series (SPOILER ALERT IF YOU HAVEN'T WATCHED THE WHOLE SERIES!): 1) How could William's father have taught him to play piano - since he died in the war while William was in utero? 2) How could Kevin have thrown out all the models he built with Jack after Jack died? They were not among the things Jack rescued from the fire. Kevin's necklace looks different in this episode than it did later in the series, too. It looks oblong-shaped here, and round and like a wheel in future episodes. I loved the Easter Egg of both Rebecca and adult Randall playing the series theme song on the piano in this episode. I noticed that in my first rewatch of the series. BEST. SERIES. EVER!
True. There's also William's building where he can hear Randall's banging at the door in 101, not same entrance system when R&B buy it later. Now you talk about the fire , there might be so many things: Dudley Randall's book?...
THIS is how good this show is vs. some other series. We have Federal agents breaking down discrepancies. I love it. Great call outs too. I'm going to watch this show like i watch marvel now.
@kelseygiddings1119 lol! There are just so many Easter eggs and layers to it. ABSOLUTELY BRILLIANT writing, acting, and all-around creation. I'm WAY too invested in the Pearsons, but I have no regrets
The irony of error No. 2 is the carefulness they exhibited NOT to say how old Kevin was when Jack died. Grace asked "You were how old?" and he responded with his back to the camera so we couldn't see his mouth "Uh, it was a long time ago". Which in hindsight makes me think they didn't want the audience to know not only how Jack died but also how old The Big Three were when he died so as to not have us start anticipating it when the teen timeline began. So it's so odd that they paid such close attention to one aspect of continuity and not the other.
Jack and Young Randall has to be my favourite parental relationship in the show. The maths scene in this episode, the golf scene, and any time he wants to help Randall connect to African American characters
Thank you for this podcast❤ I can't begin to express how much I'm enjoying it.. It feels like having more episodes from my favourite show and it makes me soooo happy to learn about the insides of the show creating process.. I'd love ti see at some point any of the other members, I love them aaaaaaalll.
I’ve never heard anybody but Chester Bennington say that quote about your mind being a dangerous neighborhood, so I’ll give him credit for that. God damn do I miss Linkin Park.
I absolutely love love love sterling, with that being said I wish there would’ve been some space for Mandy to speak from the female perspective on the Kate/Rebecca weight dynamic.
@YvetteVB I loved the episode centered around him. It would have been nice to know more of his back story earlier in the series run, but I understand why they did it the way they did it. It was very sad to lose him - but fortunately that didn't happen until the end of the series.
@@wispycrys1 it's probably my favorite episode. I cried so much. His devotion was so beautiful. He deserved to be more seen. But I'm glad we got at least one episode for him
Where did they put out the question about "What did you want to be when you grew up"...and how did I miss that? I thought I was seeing all the content for this.
I want to hear more inside the show rather then a recap throughout the podcast. I want a behind the scenes during a shoot. I want to hear less about their personal stories and more show related stuff
