Extra 20 temples＃7 Shusseki-ji
●About this temple
The story began on June 17th, 718, when Sakuemon, a hunter who lived in Tanakasho, Uwago, went hunting and found a deer.
When I followed the deer and tried to kill it, the mountain suddenly shook violently, and just when I thought it was shining brightly, the deer had disappeared.
It is said that the rock the deer was standing on split into two, and statues of Senju Kannon Bodhisattva and Jizo Bodhisattva gushed out from the ground, emitting golden light.
Sakuemon, who witnessed this miracle, stopped killing life and entered Buddhism.
Izushiji Temple was founded with this Buddha statue as the principal image.
At the time of Daishi Pilgrimage, it was praised as ``the unparalleled gold mine of the Three Kingdoms'', and in later generations, in order to prevent this Buddha statue from being treated poorly and incurring hellish punishment, it was sealed in a stone chamber and made into a secret Buddha, and it is said that it was used to perform Goma offerings. conveyed

別格二十寺 第七番札所 出石寺
●寺の歴史/縁起
養老二年（７１８年）六月十七日、宇和郷田中庄に住する猟師作右衛門という名の猟師が、狩りに出て一匹の鹿を見つけた
そのあとを追って鹿を射殺そうとしたところ、突然山が激しく揺れ、光明赫赫と輝いたと思うと鹿の姿は消えていた
鹿の立っていた岩が真二つに割れ、千手観音菩薩・地蔵菩薩の像が地中から湧き出して金色の光を放ったという
この奇瑞を目撃した作右衛門は殺生をやめ仏道に入った
そしてこの仏像を本尊とし、出石寺を開基した
大師巡錫の際には「三国無双の金山」なりと賛嘆され、後世この仏像が粗末に扱われ冥罰を蒙ってはならぬと、石室に密閉して秘仏とされ、護摩供を修法したと伝わる
