Hey Besties 💖
Welcome back to another video with THE BF4REAL PODCAST. Thank you for joining our journey as an ALL POLYNESIAN FEMALE podcast . Join along as we embark our name of BEING F4REAL.
This episode we discuss uncomfortable topics surrounding SEXUAL ABUSE. We would like to normalize discussion of things that are often pushed under the rug/hidden. This is something that is happening in all communities in which we highlight our Polynesian community experiences.
In this episode we share an anonymous story that was submitted by one of our Besties and for that we are thankful that people can share their trauma in hopes of helping someone else speak up.
This is a serious matter and if you or someone you know needs to talk to someone other then family:

This > This is def a start. Being a safe space and who knows, this could be the only time their story is actually being heard and believed. Thank you BF4REAL.

Great podcast! These are the hard conversations that need to be brought to everyone’s awareness and be discussed. If you ever do talk about this subject again I think it would be beneficial for your listeners to hear how they can mitigate the chances of their children getting abused. There’s more ways to protect your children other than “no sleepovers” and don’t let anyone touch you here”. Let’s not just talk about this horrific challenge in the community but also create change for our children. And if there’s anyone who hates on this episode - you part of this very disgusting pandemic!

This is such a great topic. I had that conversation with my daughters when they were really young.I told them that it didnt matter even if it was my dad, their dad or uncles and cousins that they needed to tell me.

Awesome podcast!! Great start to speaking on it - A couple of things I just wanted to add is that people who have been sexually abused isn't a pre-cursor to being an abuser themselves - Most predators are more concerned about having some power and control over someone else. Some other sobering facts are that 1 in 3 women and 1 in 5 men have reported to have been sexually abused, 90 per cent of victims/survivors of sexual abuse knew their perpetrator. My own thoughts on why we continue to safe harbour these predators is because they've done the work (Grooming is REAL!!) predators will groom every person around the child or young person as well as the child/Young person (go the extra mile to make the family trust them, make them think they're a saint) so that if the child does say anything, they won't be believed. Stay blessed sisters xo Love from a Samoan Gyal living in New Zealand.

BERIODT! One of the most difficult and uncomfortable subject to talk about with our parents, uncles, aunties, etc.. very quick to dust it under the rug instead of laying it out. I used to stick to being a VICTIM but with Gods grace and process of growing and learning more of his word, I’m able to see the value in myself and so much more. My prayers is all my females and folks who grow through this. Find help and don’t be afraid to speak up and stand up for yourself. YOUR LIFE MATTERS AND VALUES 🙌🏽

As a girl mom, I made sure to be as close as possible to my baby girl. I let her know she can tell me anything. Before she could spell & write it down, I gave her options to record on a voice memo. That was an option bc I know some conversations can be difficult to have for whatever reason. So if she was too shy, too scared, too whatever to tell me, this was another way she could communicate. I taught her right & wrong touching. I never used cute words or rename private parts. It’s a vagina, breasts, butt and penis. No one should kiss your mouth either. Growing up we were taught to give hugs & kisses to greet EVERYONE. I absolutely hated that & it made me so uncomfortable. As a parent, I have and will never force my child to touch anyone & i let my family know the same. If my child says NO or NO TY, that’s exactly wtf she means. She is not to sit on anyone’s lap either. She has never stayed the night ANYWHERE. Family or not. She has a bed at home. My parents never allowed me to stay the night anywhere. My dad is Samoan & my mom is Native American. Both were SA’d as children. This was one of the ways they protected me as their only daughter & it worked. I am 40 and have never been SA’d as a child or young adult. We also don’t believe in daycares. Or there are 3 ppl that are allowed to watch my child. My child isn’t even allowed to ride the school bus. Matter of fact I’m an hour early at parent pick up right nowwww. When my baby had to start going on visitation with her father who had just gotten married to someone we obviously never met, she also had 3 kids of her own. So before the first visit, we went over EVERYTHING. Right, wrong and in between. Comfortable, uncomfortable, respectful, disrespectful. What’s allowed and what isn’t. Not just by adults but also, children. Before she went, i also spoke to her father and let him know what was expected, bc his wife wasn’t mature enough to meet me even though my child would be in her home, in her care and around her children. She also didn’t want me on “her property” LMFAO.. bihhh bye. I pulled right tf up. Bc I can! I have every right to meet anyone around my child, especially if my child will be sleeping there overnight. Anyway, not only did I have to tell my child how cruel humans can be in this world, I also had to teach her how to defend, stand up for herself and teach her what to do in case of ANY type of emergency. She was just about to turn 7. I had to buy her an iPhone so I could always have her location. Teach her how to lock it. And we also made codes with emojis just in case she wanted me to know she didn’t feel safe or if she wasn’t safe and not sleeping at the designated visitation which was her father and wife’s home. That way I could come get her or check her location and pull up. He would always watch her unlock her phone and would go thru her phone and read her messages and check call logs. He wanted to control. Anyway, this is the hard stuff we have to do as parents in order to keep our children safe! I know if feels like we’re making them grow up too fast or are taking part of their innocence away, b

2/but it has to be done. So I would tell all my fellow parents, Poly or not, bc this happens in the native communities too, to teach your children not to be scared to come forward. To teach them what SA really is so that if something does happen, they know it’s not right and to tell right away! Let them know it can happen to girls AND boys, kids AND adults, that the predator can also be FAMILY, FRIENDS, NEIGHBORS, TEACHERS, COACHES, PASTORS, Etc. NEVER be scared if they threaten your life. That’s what they say so you don’t tell. Let your kids know that won’t happen and that YOU WILL PROTECT THEM & most importantly BELIEVE THEM! And no matter what that YOU WILL ALWAYS LOVE THEM❤ Teach them : if they see something, say something! If someone tries anything, to SCREAM. Run. Tell. Have these hard conversations so that they know what they’re up against. *and always let them know it is NOT their fault. *NOTHING is wrong with them. *Always tell someone *To TRUST US *They will be BELIEVED *They will always be LOVED *NO ONE & I MEAN NO ONE SHOULD EVER TOUCH THEIR GENITALIA, KISS THEIR LIPS, MAKE YOU TOUCH THEIR GENITALIA. NO ONE SHOULD EVER ASK YOU TO KEEP A SECRET. YOU CAN ALWAYS TELL YOUR PARENTS. **make sure to build that bond. Gain your child’s trust and confidence so they feel comfortable. Show them unconditional love and support** PROTECT OUR CHILDREN!!!!!! From EVERYONE & ANYONE. Give them stability & safety. Much love to you all! Parents, I beg you to have the hard conversations and keep your babies safe. Take all & every precaution & NEVER let anyone judge you or make you feel some type of way for protecting yours. I get clowned bc I’m a “helicopter mom”. I’m a damn proud one too! My baby is loved, safe, intelligent, kind, respectful, outgoing, caring, tough, thoughtful, sweet, witty, hilarious, loyal & most of all SAFE❤❤❤❤

I love the video and I love how you’re spreading awareness, but please know that s3xual abuse is not only in America. Lose mentioned that Tonga is different from America, but you have to remember that predators are EVERYWHERE. I was born and raised in the islands, so much assault has happened here and it’s the exact same bc the old people here really don’t want it to get out so they try their best to make fun or make the victims look bad so much that they end up unaliving themselves. And I know this in Samoa, Tonga, Tahiti, Fiji… everywhere. Just wanted to share that lil bit.

Can we bring awareness about males, they go through it as well and they get judged by point of views that are disgusting. For example it gets viewed as “cool” if a an older female does it or when women do it to men, the women doesn’t get as punished as opposed to a man getting sentenced.

Maybe it happened to her mom and her mom's defensive mechanism is pretending it never happened? Cuz I know some ppl like that.. I mean either way it was wrong. prayers for her nd her kids. No sleepovers!
