I was diagnosed with prostate cancer in 2010. I underwent brachytherapy in S.Africa .Whilst the procedure went well. It left me with ED problem. I go to get my PSA checked and that's always 000. This 14 years ago. We're they too many seeds empĺanted??
I’ve heard all this a hundred times. I never hear anyone (doctors or patience’s) say what the state of the prostate is after. Does it still work with seeds in the prostate, like when you come. Does the tissue reconvert or is it like burnt scar tissue. If you have HDR in half of the prostate, does the other half work. Hum…
Damn the prostate has to be less than 60 cc. Seeding sounds like a no brainer.Most guys I know are getting the Beam or surgery. One Doc said seeding has a 2 percent risk of side effects to 5 for the Beam. But read a few guys who have burning months after while urinating from seeding. Plus most Urologist will offer the remedy there trained in. Alot of Urologist are dead fast that surgery is the gold standard. It's a tragedy that its hard to find a urologist who does perineal biopsys. Hopefully some kind of focal therapy is on the horizon like Lazer for guys that catch it early with yearly psa.
I thought Brachy was a good option with psa under 10. But the doctor told me that my prostate volume at 50 is too large. MRI indicated that I had something near the transition zone too.
PIRADS 5 ..PSA 9.8 positive for capsular penetration and seminal vasicle invasion. Going to Mayo clinic for biopsy in 2 weeks. Have been looking around and like brachytherapy. Any comments?
HDR or seed implants?...I myself have considered HDR brauchytherapy because of the complete control of the dose. It has thee lowest rate of bowel and bladder interference. You must consider secondary cancers when thinking about rt all together. HDR brauchytherapy also has a very low recurrence rate,which must be considered as well..don't take my word for it, I'm not a doctor, but take a moment to read some publications. 😉
