A Sunday raid to Jibbon Beach, on the Hacking river south of Sydney. Dated 17th October, 2021, this is the first gathering for the group after 4 months of lockdown. Spring weather put on a show for us, and a 10 -15knot breeze throughout the day.

Nice! Great video. Well done. A pity I couldn’t make it a trio of Heron. I need to get more confident in enclosed waters before I join you guys out there. Not sure how/if I would have handled that swell.

All in good time TB! It was that bloody surf that was the issue, not being familiar with the area I didn’t know that could happen as big as it does. As for ocean swell, you just bob over that without issue because its not steep. Looking forward to seeing Joylian on the next raid.

I was freaking out! That first lot that came up behind me was a surprise, and for the wind to die I lost steering. Momentum gave me enough to turn into it. Just bobbed over it but I thought I would get turned side on at the time. Josh

living in New Jersey on the eastern coast of the United States, I am jealous. The only way I can sail my little GP14 out in the ocean is to brave some truly nasty little inlets.

Thanks for your comment! It’s amazing what people will sail in all over the world- I am following a guy cruising on Chesapeke Bay and he’s getting very cold temperatures. What we do for a sail! Take care, Josh
