'Local' was really hard. I wonder if 'national news - hometown news' would have done it. Or perhaps 'think globally, act _______' I can't think of a solid clue for it!

Corbin said grandfather. The starting GRAN part of that is also in GRANny 👵 Smith, and he was not disqualified for it 🤔? I see where he was going with it, that was my sort of thinking too. Plural = opposite singular. Allowance = children’s fixed money every weekly, or something related.

I'm not 100% but I don't think "gran" isn't an actual word on it's own. On that premise they wouldn't be disqualified. I know british people say it referring to their grandmother. We typically don't in the U.S. though.

"Gran" is not a word. You can't say what's part of a compound word. It doesn't mean you can't say "before tomorrow" for "today" because they both have the "to" sound. They're not compound words. Like "ball" for "Basketball" or even "blank of blank" for "Statue of Liberty" with which you can't say "of." He can't say "opposite, grandma" for "grandpa" because "grand ma" are two compound words. "Granny" is not.

Much better money round performance this time round. I would have made a homophone play, tic tac (tack) toe or tic tac the sweet. Local = community, neighbourhood. Unlucky 😢 better luck next time.

Yeah, just says "worker's..." or "the five blank..." and assume they'll know a phrase associated with the word when it can be a hundred things. Also "the five blank..." why even waste a word on "blank" when she trailed off anyway? And who hears "the five..." and thinks "senses" rather than just giving the clue she ends up giving of touch, taste, sight, etc.? She plays as if it's a game of "What word do you associate with this?" and doesn't see from the contestants' POV how something like "worker's..." could not be enough context.

With respect, that 4th round for the guy couple was butchered. Clues weren't very good and he didn’t pass when the contestant suggested it. Time got wasted.

Because "granny smith" is an easy word. There's no reason they shouldn't get it with "green apple" but instead they acted like "apple" is a new concept to them. Probably because they only played one of three rounds so were nervous about finally having to play.

Boozy makes it sound like it's something you do in a basement. She should have said "alcohol basement" or "chardonnay basement." Which is just replacing "wine" for "alcohol/chardonnay" and "basement" for cellar. But "boozy" doesn't evoke "wine" because it's an adjective and not a noun.

@@johnsmi213 It doesn't have to be the same part of speech to work. And I don't get what you mean when you say it sounds like it's something you do. "boozy basement" evokes "alcoholic basement," and there's only one standard expression that refers to alcohol and a basement: wine cellar. It was a good clue.

I don't think the celebrities should be in charge of the second last round where they pick the words. It seems a bit unfair. They should change the format for next season. Perhaps the celebrities can do the first two rounds. Less risky.
