Our first overnight passage in the Mediterranean. We covered 200nm over two nights and three days from Montenegro to Corfu, Greece. Although we have been cruising in Adriatic for the last 18 months, we have never done an overnight passage. We were pretty nervous about this passage because we planned to spend not only one but two nights at sea. We kept 3 hours on and 3 hours off watch and witnessed quite a bit of cruise ship and Albanian fishing boat traffic during the day and throughout the night. We put our radar and fishing gear in use for the first time.
The passage was quite an experience so was the old town of Corfu. Corfu is our first stop and entry point to Greece. The bureaucracy around getting our transit log and paperwork in order was an ordeal, but we were rewarded by Greece's most charming and elegant island capital. We spent 2 nights at marina Gouvia before we sailed up north to Kalami Bay, made famous by British novelist Lawrence Durell.
We quit our high-tech jobs in California to be liveaboards on a sailboat full-time in the Mediterranean. We just started our adventure of sailing around the world and experiencing life by living on a sailboat. In this sailing vlog 2021, we will share our experiences as a sailing couple on RU-vid who spends our first year sailing extensively throughout Croatia. We will document our experiences, costs, and travel discoveries throughout our sailing journey. Croatia offers some of the best sailings in the Adriatic and sailing in Europe.
