Just before Christmas, we visited my uncle Jore's house in Hämeenlinna, Finland. My father had two brothers. You had met the elder one, Jussi in my previous video. Jore is the younger one. He was very eager to meet Annika since she is the only grandchild in my dad's side of the family. Little Annika was excited to meet her granduncle and her lovely cousin Olivia, especially because she got so many more gifts! It was a memorable family reunion where Vinod got to see some of the old pics of my great grandparents and lots of medals and stuff. It's just another video from our mundane life in Finland.

What a lovely video Johanna. Family is so important. You can definitely see the resemblance between uncle Jore when he was a baby and Annika. Everyone falls in love with Annika when they meet her. It is so heartwarming to see your family Johanna. Everything is so naturally shot and your sister is so much into kids, they seem to build bond with her so quickly. And yes, Annika resembles your uncle when he was a kid, the face structure especially in that family portrait is so similar to Annika's. I remember seeing your baby photo in one of your videos, you too have similar facial structure. And not to forget those birch and pine trees, they look so beautiful. Finland is a beautiful land. Good to see Johanna use “extra-grandpa” for Jore...in Indian culture Tamil, dad’s elder brother is called, “big dad” (“peria-appa”), dad’s younger brother is called, “little dad” ( “chith-appa” ), both sometimes called dad or “appa” for short. Both are called “grandpa” ( “thaa-thaa” ) by kids of their brothers. Many Indians also use family terms for non-blood relatives as long as they fulfil their roles as in Johanna’s and Annika’s case. So it is appropriate for Johanna to call Jore as dad and for Annika to call Jore as grandpa, which is symbolic of their real bonding.

Well i still miss them a lot when apart, especially since in Kerala we’re pretty much completely alone without support from either of our families 😟 but of course we’re hoping to get them to visit our indian home soon enough!

When the temperature rises to zero we put our t-shirts on and go bask in the warm sun 😎 Annika has of course lot of resemblance with vinod and his mom also, but many people wouldnt have realised before that she can get some of the ”indian features” even from my side! Like both my mom and Jore had naturally black hair, so it’s not just dark indian features 😄 though Annika’s pretty curls are definitely from vinod! Maybe we’ll kidnap Nina next time 🥰

Well technically she is my uncle’s granddaughter and i also count olivia’s mom Essi as my dearest cousin ❤️ however jore isn’t essi’s father - but a father figure nonetheless having been in a relationship with essi’s mother for over 30 years. By blood and name, me and my sister are the only ones to continue my father’s side if the family tree

I feel for you about having to go back to India, you will miss all your family a lot and Annika will miss them too, although she's still so little. I guess with with the technology we have now such as video calls the world feels less far away... I’ve shared my dad’s photo on my Instagram sometimes 😊 i dont feel comfortable sharing very much about him or my childhood photos on video, as i get very emotional about it as i’m still in the grieving process over his death

@@JohannaNorth ok I really did feel so.. I respect your feelings.. 🙏 and yes, I too was very close to my daddy. It's now 10 years since he passed away but I still miss him a lot.. I too never felt like sharing my dad's picture online even on any special day, that way I want to keep him and his memories close to my heart... Take care Jo ❤️❤️❤️

I would organize it that every 2 years I spend at least 4 months in Finland, a friend of our family does that here… every year she goes up to USA colorado and spends 6 months there at her daughters home with her grand children, and the the other 6mths she lives here in the Caribbean at her home. This way she gets the best of both worlds the only downside it that it might be expensive to do annually

Our dream is to split the year between our two countries one day, but unfortunately it is not an option in many years 😟
