We use the same method of calculating but instead of pricing for each individual elements such as bricks, blocks , insulation etc you just price the sqm for everything, it takes all the hassle out of it. A price for 2 skins of block A price for brick & block A price for timber frame The price may differ depending on the insulation method / overhand working etc
when I have done extensions i was younger ,i sometimes asked the owner to buy the materials to lessen any outlay. would give them a shopping list and who to buy from. once i had done the brick and blockwork would recommend a mate that did carpentry.
Great video!. Well explained. I run a small, long established family building company and I use the same method as you. The only thing I would say in addition to any watching that just thinking of setting up, is to add on wastage if supplying materials. More important if the bricks are LBC's. As my local merchants won't take returns on damaged LBCs and alot of the time up to ⅓ of the bricks in those pack are unusable!🙄. Great channel! 👍🏻👍🏻
Top video again as we only tend to do blockwork in Cornwall it is fairly easy to price. But great advice you gave and always nice see other ways of pricing. Thanks as always.
100% Ash I will make that a priority over the coming weeks. I think there are a lot of people who would like to see that. Even home owners who want to extend will benefit from that. Really appreciate the feed back mate
@@Levelupconstructionmedia I started life on the trowel as an improver on the big housing sites so never really get the chance to look at the drawings so would definitely benefit me to see a video like that and hopefully others too.
Jobs like that I always do up to DPC on daywork as the concrete is always out of level or if it is level its the wrong height, also you never really know how much meterage is in it untill you get there also need to allow for carting materials from the front garden to the back of the house where the extension is.
well said mate, a lot of the time access is an issue and 9 times out of 10 like you said the footings are out.. We always do below dpc on a measure or day work depending on depth and amount of bricks and blocks in it. They are good earners but no room for mistakes as such small jobs.
Good video. Could you do a video on constructing steps into a house, with how to calculate tread and risers and how you go about it if the finished level is above DPC? Videos better without subtitles.👍👍
Love this channel mate I’m 29 and got Ltd company only got 2 other blokes with me don’t want to be massive I like just sticking to little gang, i only do private work at the min want to try stay off site work but am learning so much from your channel and also Andy bricklayers world wide is another great one You seem like a really interesting geeza mate wouldn’t mind picking at some more of your knowledge

Il be up at 5am mate waiting to watch your next vid most interesting bricklayers channel on here 100% Add me up mate MBM Brickwork I don’t go on there much my missus does it all for me but I deffo will get hold of you mate thanks
I always price all work as a sold building(through the wall) This means all wall ties, insulation, dpc, cavity trays, lintels etc are in the price, I allow a soldier as three course, This is a labour price, not including materials I always count the courses, and use a scale rule , Any work below dpc is done on day work, If you have all the measurements ,it's easy.
If you have to use imperial size bricks to match into the house then it's no longer 60 face per square metre and also knocks the levels abit off for the tie wires. Not a biggy but needs Consideration when pricing and building I think. Quality advice here though thank you for sharing
Your Videos are brilliant mate so relevant and helpful aswell👍🏻 we all love slapping the 🧱dwn but there is another side to wot we do aswell and ur videos are👌🏻
Really appreciate that. Completely agree. I think it’s very easy to see the money some trowels earn or the bullshit 1000 bricks a day culture and think it’s easy as. I love the industry but we started this page to give a genuine account of it. Thanks for the feed back 🙏🏻
