Actually, it’s a faulty strategy and whenever you stuck in such slippery mud, better to use car’s momentum to cross through rather than trying to explore its off-road capabilities.. anyways good effort by all

U need to reverse back ur car first, then use momentum, never accelerate too much, ll burn tyres .xuv is very powerful i m using from last 5 years never struck anywhere.

You should have tried taking it uphill in reverse. It mostly worked for me in fwd here in Ooty. I usually walk first if I have doubt, if it's too slippery. Then it's momentum or when speed is risky then its reverse gear uphill.

Get chains for the wheels when ur planning to go to such places.or keep tyre chain in ur vehicle at all times, unnecessarily u burnt the clutch.. nice video

You could also try reverse drive. Front drive becomes rear drive. You could be easily out. Just be a little careful while going reverse. Happy driving..

Sir, I had been following your videos quite for a long time. Quite happy to see how you take long distance challenges with smiling face and driving up the most difficult terrain with same enthusiasm. I am quite old to lecture you in off road driving, still could not resist you to say a point or two. If you are a serious off road driver (which I saw in many of your videos), then ditch this fancy vehicle XUV500 that you are driving. I would suggest you to go for Range Rover but that would have been an unnecessary costly good for nothing investment though Range Rover is as good as a car on highways and sturdy like a jeep in off road driving. Any 4x4 SUV made in India will be good as it is pretty costly to get Landy, Land Cruiser in our country. I have driven through Sahara desert on sand dunes and rocky flats of North Africa, muddy roads of Nigeria, Congo, bush country of East Africa and Van Zyle's pass of Namibia. Sir, you do not need much of engine power more than 2 litre engine, but you need absolutely a vehicle 4x4 with differential lock, traction control, ESP etc. along with a pair of traction mats or traction boards. Only then you can get a better road hold. You also can put solar cells at the roof top and auxiliary battery for running night lamps as well as running a top load fridge. Regarding shower you need a pump, hand shower, a plastic enclose for privacy in bathing with hot water thrown in. You also need a shovel, a portable bush toilet along with plastic cover to save your modesty particularly if a lady is joining in the adventure. A yawning also will be an added assets for hot days. These are easily available in south Africa as lots of people go for off roading there. Most of the items that I mentioned above are available in the country. Sorry my text has become a long one. I don't understand why do people call front wheel drive cars a SUV... They are just oversized , bulky passenger cars not a SUV.... any car which don't have 4×4 doesn't qualify to be a suv

You had 2 options:- Grab the momentum by doing forwad back 2nd put a jack and put proper stone under tyre from both side

actually we have the same front wheel drive xuv 500 and we also went for a hill top camping in kodaikanal and the road was so dangerous.but the car went smoothly when driving at a constant speed if we stop the car and speed to max it doesnt work and i am experienced.the car gives ultimate mileage and cc and even speed but the only thing is handling it guys thank u have a nice a day

I have been using an xuv for the past 2 years, took it to off roads like this, i always let hill ascend do the job by just releasing the clutch very slowly at the start of the hill and it would climb up slow and smooth. Maybe this situation was different and mine would have been stuck there too, but I also think it would have worked like a charm.

Bro just deflate the tires for 25 seconds the tyre pressure will drop around 15 to 20 psi...then the tire will hold....also you have bald tires from the center which indicate that you over inflate the tires

Whenever this happens push or lift from the other side. Best and easy way to pull out a stuck car.

I am from Mizoram the most hilly states in India and i also own an XUV 500 fwd 2012 model. I never got stuck in more worst roads than that. That XUV driver lacks knowledge on offroading in Fwd vehicles. Also, tires play a huge role in a tricky situation.

It's always about maintaining your momentum when climbing. If you brake at the wrong time in mud /slush & get stuck it's always better to go back first and then try again without braking. You did that & were successful otherwise might have burnt the clutch very easily.

Harrier has rough mode, and can lock both front wheels preventing free spinning.. Here left tyre had traction so harrier can easily climb.

Buy a set off road tyres, the traction issues on mud will be solved. For such inclines its is not AWD or 4WD that matters, it is the tyres

I have XUV500 ALMOST 6 years old ! When your vehicle struck in such sand you should not rise the power only have to release clutch slowly . Have to do wheel alignment every 5000 KM so your tyres wont worn out

Use jack to lift the wheels, then add sand\ dry soil\ small stones below the wheel, remove the jack and try to come out with low wheel RPM, use half clutch if requied. Don't do wheel spin, it will increase the problem. By the way, the kind of roads you guys drive, you should use a AWD.
