Thanks Jayne. It is a really nice dream. I am not sure how it would work in practice, but it is on my mind as something i would like to be able to create. :)
I always look forward to your weekly podcast to enjoy with a spot of knitting and a cuppa. Buying yarn online is a bit of a crapshoot, I’ve definitely had some hits and some misses. Today while watching your podcast I cast on a Calypso Sweater (Black Cat Knitting Co.). The yoke requires two skeins of Spincycle, lovely yarn but very spendy$$$. It’s feeling like a very luxury knit.
Thanks so much Linda. I agree - cant go past knitting with a podcast and a cuppa. That is my favorite kind of relax time. I love that Calypso sweater. Added to the queue! I have some nice navy Rowan Felted Tweed that could be the base yarn. Yes - online shopping is perfectly described as hit and miss. ;)
Will be very interesting to see what you end up doing with the Nutiden,Tash.I was tempted dyring their recent launch but resisted Agree, online shopping can bring some unexpected surprises ( coliur shades not being true with photography)but not all bad.The colours for your half and half have to bring joy (" be heart- jumping as Sarah from It is a Sarah in the Netherlands says ❣️)..a big knit.Have a wonderful dinner with all the family tonight and quality times together in the days ahead. We'll see you when we see you.🙏😉👋xx
Thank you again. Great Podcast again. Love the dress and the Tee. Looks fabulous finished. The Pi Tee is so so nice. Great choices for your new yarns, cant wait to see how they knit for you. So glad you had a lovely time celebrating fathers' day remembering your dad. Its been about 10 years that my dad left us and I still feel the loss. Its good to have good memories. What a great idea to have a knitting corner for those that just want to have a knitting circle...what an amazing vision. We started a crotchet group at school and now we meet on a weekly basis.
Thank you so much. I'm sorry to hear you lost your dad also. xx I love that you have a regular crochet group at school. That is something really special. x
My heart sank when I saw the red blotch in an otherwise beautiful colour! You have tried so hard with this skirt, you deserve a win. I’ve been wanting to try Tynn Line so I’m interested to hear how you like it. I did find Isager Trio 2 (similar maybe), but haven’t decided if I like it as I haven’t washed it yet. Unfortunately the weather has turn very cool here in Ontario (32 one day, 15 a few days later) so I guess I’ll be finished with my summer knits. Hope you have a lovely visit with your in-laws.
Thanks so much Hilda. I am going to try a dark purple next and make sure i use a much bigger pot once I can find one. I am interested to hear your verdict on the Isager Trio 2. :)
The drop in knitting centre is a gorgeous idea! And your knitting books won’t be scoffed at, they’ll be considered ‘vintage’.😃 I gasped out loud at your Carnaby skirt Tash!!!!😱 Would the skein you dyed along with it be suitable to knit a replacement panel? Such a shame after all that knitting and all that work trying to rectify the problem! I knitted on my Ranunculus whilst watching your episode, catching up on all your beautiful knits. Thanks for another great dose of inspiration! 😃🧶
I can’t wait to see what you make with the Nutiden! I’ve never worked with it before, and I just received 4 plates of a grey/brown colorway. Your colors are beautiful.
Thank you! I am excited to try it too. I feel like i have to do a bit of research first for an appropriate project. Interested to hear what you plan to make with yours, too. :)
Love your vision Tash 😊 I would definitely drop in at your knitting drop in. What a lovely lot of yarn, I am a bit funny with orange but I think the other colour you chose will work great with it, sort of a tone down and pop of colour. Just started my very first musselberg hat, so will see how it goes.
Tash I simply love the dress from the Vault. It is my style of dress. The camisole 5 looks small but I think I you know if it will fit. The Pi Camisole looks stunning and I love the colour. The yarn haul is beautiful the variety of colours are so varied. It was 10 degrees C when I got up this morning. ❤😊 Take care 😊
LOL OMG I was so hopeful when you initially held up the carnaby skirt! Such a beautiful deep red! I will look forward to your next endeavour. Maybe start a new podcast and call it the red dyeries❤. Love all your new wool/plans what is it about wool that gets us so excited? Too bad someone can’t come up with a fiber lottery! I would be in it for sure course then I would have to buy a new house to store it😂
Hi Tash! always looking forward to your videos!❤ lovely knits lovely purchases, it’s so yummy to receive new yarn! I like the idea of the combo you were going for, very vintage combination of colors which is something I love, I wonder how the colors are in real life, on the screen it looks nice, I think you need to really like it, a swatch might help, I had started a half and half but did not like garter with the yarn I chose because it did not come out neat…it’s such a long project, but you have knit so many dresses you are used to long projects..I love the drop-in knitting cocoon space ❤ oh no, so sad about the skirt it’s such a lovely color…maybe you could look for a dye that is not brown since you want to make the tweed version? a green, purple, blue? as for the bamboo, I know you have so much more experience than me but beware, I knit a lovely sweater in 100% silky heavy bamboo ages ago when I was just starting knitting and it totally stretched out😱 maybe with a smaller tank top this may not happen, not sure if a gauge will be enough to simulate what happens with the weight of a full top…so happy for you with all your family gatherings ❤take care Barbara
Thanks so much Barbara. I think the bamboo is better suited to a small tank. I'm running out of options for overdyeing the Carnaby skirt. That dark spot is really quite dark so i think deep brown is my only option besides black which i dont want due to already having a black on. Thanks for your comments. I will be thinking about the Half and Half and swatching before i cast on the real deal. x
Hi Tash. Love you FO turned out lovely. The Audrey is super cute too. I think your half and a half wrap will look great, as you said it’s just one color peeking out. Shopping online is always a challenge 😑 tynn line looks lovely. I’m knitting the cami no5 too 🥰 it looks so funny, my hubby is like “huh?!?” 🤭 Your skirt 😩 so close!! Enjoy your in-laws 🥰
Thanks so much Karen. With the skirt, it was all smiles until.... it wasnt. Oh well. Learning along the way. Ha! I agree. The No. 5 looks miniscule. But it will be great when it is done. What yarn are you using? Color?
Hi. Lovely spending some time with you. I've just cast on a Musselburgh to knit on while watching! For the Carnaby skirt, it looks like the Dye was blue based red so how about using a navy or French navy dye which may blend the patch of pooled dye? I was also going to suggest a charity shop for a dye pan/pot. Enjoy your family time with your in-laws Amanda x
Thanks so much Amanda. Yes, i will try either a navy or a purple. Sometime other than brown just to give it a go. Off to the thrift shops in the holidays. :)
And here i was feeling smug about 18 deg in Wellington, NZ in early September! It's been lovely, sunny days and NO WIND for our capital city, most unusual. I loved the unboxing and that blue was divine for your half and half wrap, but that peach bellini 😍 super gorgeous!! Have a lovely time with the in-laws 😊
Love your green dress Tash, it looks great on you. Gorgeous new yarn haul. Can't wait to see what one you cast on first. Enjoy quality time with your in-laws and we will see you when it suits you.
You can dye in a stainless steel sink or a big stainless steel pot. The dye will not hold on to the stainless steel when it is emptied. I wouldn’t use an aluminium pot though. I’ve dyed bright orange in stainless steel and had no residue after washing the pot well. Loving your RU-vids. So inspiring. Blessings Gail.
Hi!! That black yarn would work for the Rota top,i think its the correct gauge and would look beautiful!! Love all the plans and drooling over the new haul. Those summer yarns look amazing. X
Thanks so much Bec. I reckon it would work for the Rota Top - that is a great idea. I should have plenty. Can't wait to start knitting with all these new yarns to try. So much fun!
Hi from Dungog. I have just watched your very first vlog and it's great to find an Australian Utuber. I laughed when you said none of your students have taken up your offer to teach them to knit. My mum wouldn't teach me so I asked my sister's kindergarten exchange teacher who was Canadian to teach me.(almost) 50 years ago. She was a continental knitter and my mum and Gran were amazed at what I was doing as they had never seen or heard of it. This is all to say, one-day a student is going to say yes. I'm binge watching your posts and indulging my latest rabbit hole which is sock making. Happy know knitting 👩🌾👩🌾👩🌾
Thanks so much Susan. That is so cool that you were able to show your mum and Gran a thing or two. :) Thanks for taking the time to watch some of my earlier episodes. Happy knitting. :)
Hi Tash, I just watched Ne Knits latest video which has Cami No 5 and Kutar and she has some great tips for knitting them, and she's also done a cumulus tee recently so you might find it interesting and helpful 👌
Thank you. I am looking forward to the Half and Half and agree the yarn feels beautiful. Still nervous about the colour though. A swatch will help me feel better. x
What kind of steel kneedels are you knit with in your socks and tank tops? And where do you buy them? Thanks for yet another educational and exciting episode! Have a good one! 🌺🌷🌺🌷🌺🌷🌺🌷🌺
Thanks so much. With most of my needles, I use Chiaogoo needles (fixed and interchangebale) but I have a lot of old Addi fixed needles and a few Hiya Hiya and some Birch from my big box store Spotlight. I think Chiagoo are my favorites. There are loads of online shops so i would just try to find one with a good price and shipping if you dont have a local LYS that carries them. :)
Thank you Tess, I think you helped me fine the perfect yarn for the Drawstring Camisole by purlsoho I've been wanting to make, I think the pattern would be great as casual wear or dressed up under a blazer with a skirt, I wanted a yarn with a slight shimmer to it so that bamboo yarn might work. Hope you can fix the color on your skirt, maybe a burgundy or cabernet color? fingers crossed it will turn out just right 3rd times the charm right?❤
Thanks so much. Good to hear others are seeing them as a good combination. That and a swatch should help me feel better about starting the whole project. :)
