Perfect timing , I've been looking for something like the Bench Mate II. Most of what I've seen out there is for aircraft. Yes I build those but also Armour and cars. Thanks for being an enabler.
Will, Another use for the Flitz metal Polish can be for “polishing/cleaning” your airbrush needles. Either manually, via a dab on a cloth, (always back to front), or with a cloth burnishing/polishing type wheel on your dremel/proxon. Helps to provide a smoother (& brighter) finish on the needle.H-T-H.🤔
Hi Will, have you seen the "tweezer stabilzers" offered for sale on eBay? Basically, the give you a miniature painters bridge you can put on your workbench to help with things like placing items and painting. With your Fusion skills you can probably recreate the plastic and aluminum version, but at around 40 bucks with shipping for the 3D printed version I went ahead and just bought one - I haven't used it a lot, but it works when I need it. It's hollow, so I filled mine with birdshot for extra heft. Anyway, I thought you might like to know about it.
Hey man! I learned of you from night shift and have been loving your content so far. Thank you for providing such valuable information. I am still new to the hobby, and one major area I am struggling on finding any good info on is how to properly layers types of paints. Specifically how one should go about using enamels, lacquers and acrylics in unison. Say I apply a base coat of acrylic and want to add a wash of oil / mineral spirit; what varnish type should I use to separate these two? This is the type of stuff I am struggling with and would absolutely LOVE if you could please make a video about it. God Bless and thank you!
Thank you! Glad you are finding some useful information here. Check out the model making fundamentals playlist. There are a couple of episodes in there about paint and thinner chemistry.
A message on their website says they are busy moving till Nov 24. Looks like a really useful jig for armour modellers, I will be back by the end of that month. 👍🏻
Will, Your in-depth videos are very insightful and have helped me expand my modeling resources including tools and materials I was unaware of. For instance, I purchased several UTC Ultrawire spools in various sizes and colors. The biggest pro for me is that the wires are painted. The one downside I would say is they can be difficult to manipulate. I also purchased the harrline tubing which has come in very handy. Next I want to purchase some of the files by hobby elements. I had a question. I have been using allot of superglue lately and the glue looper you mentioned has been very helpful but my discipline with CA is terrible. As a result I sometimes get over exposure which makes the paint job look shiny. Is there a way to alleviate this issue without having to respray? Another thing I’ve learned the hard way is of adding scratch built details it’s better to add them before you paint, that’s not always possible but still a better practice than gluing directly on top of paint as I’ve experienced. Thanks for your help and I hope you keep the content coming.
Thank you for the kind words. I'm glad you find the videos useful. As for the superglue shiny spots… Those are definitely a thing. Unfortunately sometimes you have no choice but to glue something after paint and even with precision application of extra thin CA it can happen. If I'm feeling super lazy and I don't want to airbrush the spot I will just do it with a hand brush.
