Chateau Preparation ... What could go wrong for the 1st clients of the season ...
We have been so busy not a day off and 14-15h a day non stop ... for getting the place ready for the start of the season but even with starting early there is always unpredicted things ...
On this episode of Bordeaux Life Edd tackles bedroom water heating , sorting out the kitchen
I get on with Chateau bedroom prep , lots of cleaning ...
The list of things to do is endless in a chateau this size .
But we are over the moon to get the place ready for our 1st clients !!!

Probably more like 40 for such a big castle (head butler, 4 footmen, chef, 4 kitchen maids, 2 laundry maids, head gardener, 4 extra gardeners, madam, 4 maids, 4 stable boys, the madam and several laundry, chamber & nurse maids ... & so on and so forth)

mind you then to clean a carpet you had to hang it over a line and beat it , and polishing meant warming wax and rubbing it into the wood , life was much harder then and they did not have the tools , now we have hot water on line it does not take 12 hours of the day to do the washing and heating the place does not take fires every where so life is so much easier , on the other hand the hoovering of so many rooms , thats why i would have robot hoovers for such a big place , one in each room will be expensive though , starting with one ... lol

Anna you are doing an awesome job preparing the bedrooms for you clients, but remember you are just one woman who not only has a husband and children to look after but a business as well, so of course you are allowed to feel tired you have to take care of yourself as well.

I'm exhausted just from watching the two of you and hearing all of the hard work you have to put in. A lot of people think you get to live a luxurious, pampered lifestyle when they hear you live in a chateau but they forget that you don't have servants like they used to have back in the day. It looks beautiful and I love the fact that even in the midst of stress and exhaustion you both keep a sense of humour and teamwork (plus a great bum shot). hahahaha

I marvel at Anna's psychic energy being able to make beds, clean windows, fetch drying pillows, while climbing up and down stairs to several bedrooms, ordering flowers, and everything else while staying positive on camera. I'm exhausted watching her. It takes a special woman for this kind of life.

In Canada we have Home Hardware and Rona but also the US big box stores, Home Depot and Lowes. Edd I am very impressed with you climbing a ladder in bare feet. That has to hurt.

“And we can move on to more jobs now … “. Dear heaven! The two of you have been working all of the hours that God sends and then some along with torrential floods. Your guests will never know how hard you both work behind the scenes to get things done in order for their stay to be perfect. At this point I would be ripping my hair out! Heaven bless you overcoming all of these obstacles. You both move from place to place to rectify the problems that would force me to call in some sort of expert to repair and yet, Ed just sorts it out! Electrician, plumber and man of all trades. I must congratulate you on that epic wine bottle light fixture by Ed, the thinker -outside-the-box-extraordinaire-person. Utterly brilliant! I am hoping that the flooding problem will not be beyond the pale as far as a relatively “easily” solved issue. Nevertheless, big hugs to you both from Canada! Kathleen.

I love the small town mom and pop hardware stores. They are so charming, crammed with goods so you must go to the counter and engage with an old guy in a rocking chair. He knows exactly where everything is! We have one of those next town over. They are fading fast.😪

Edd is truly a Jack-of-all-trades. You two are such hard workers. I wonder, since you only need hot water when you have guests, wouldn’t it be more efficient to use tankless water heaters? I understand they’re expensive but you could replace them one at a time over time.

Love the carpeting and drapes in the halls makes it so warm, inviting and luxurious. The stairwell reminds me so much of my grandmothers home in Europe when I was a child. It transported me right back there when I saw them. I’m glad you went up that stairwell. That was such a sweet shot of Emma at the typewriter; it melted my heart. That looks beautiful! We have Lowe's and Home Depot here in America ... The Lebanon Cedar is beautiful backdrop for the Crepe Myrtle ... Emma is so cute and intent on typing! lol The grounds are so beautiful. So glad you are having guests again!!! The bedroom is beautiful. It is good that Edd can do your repairs at the Chateau. The Australian version would be Bunnings! And you have to time your visit for the middle of the day on the weekend when they have a fundraising BBQ outside so you can grab a sausage in bread on your way in/out.

Enjoyed. I was stressing out for you both. So happy its all coming together. I many years ago had a large 3 story Manor house and because of all the many electric boxes and boiler room etc, I employed a part time maintenance man to keep an eye on all the inner workings of a huge estate. Owning a property like these is like owning a bridge in a major city, Repair one end and start over at the other end, Uhg! Praying all goes well and continues for you both. You are truly dear people. Hardware stores in Ireland would be woodies, and we have a few B&Q's scattered around. Another and nearest to me is Symths homevaule again a few scattered around Ireland . You both are doing an amazing job, I found it difficult taken care of 3 kids in a 3 bed house .
