The orange bar represents the amount of compression that signal is receiving and the green bar is representing the average level that signal is after processing. What’s causing the orange bar to push down is my 2 compressors the puigchild and sslcomp. However, all my gain staging is done before processing and that can be done by clip gaining the actual tracks before it even hits the inserts (there’s a little db marker on the bottom left of each track in the edit window, click on that and turn it down) I usually clip gain things down until I have a good amount of space before hitting red on my master then I go ahead and introduce my eq, compression, etc
