Jaffna tamils are not brought by British as plantation workers in to srilanka. Jaffna tamils were classified as srilankan tamils along with tamils who lived in northern and Eastern part of srilanka. Srilankan tamils are inhabitant to this country like sinhaleses. The Indian tamils are the one brought by British as plantation workers to the tea plantations in the central province of srilanka. The ethinc conflit is mainly between sinhalese and srilankan tamils. The reason for the conflict is more complicated. The starting point is srilankan tamils mainly from jaffna region are more educated under the British rule. Still now the literary rate of jaffna province is high compare to other parts of srilanka. During British colonial period and after independence srilankan Tamils placed in most of civil services in srilanka. So the majority sinhalese feel they were controlled by minority srilankan tamils. With the majority voting power sinhalese elected politicians with racist mindset against srilankan tamils and then the sinhala only act introduced where srilankan tamils and other minorities were gone through jobless in that government. Then sinhalese supremacy is fed up with support of politicians. Several massacres started to happen to tamils in sinhala areas. Then later ltte militant group founded against srilankan government.

Tamil peoples are living above 2000 years in sri lanka. You should learn history of Tamil peoples for Sri lanka. British brought Tamils workers from India in 19 century, they are living central provincial, they didn't fight against government for tamil elam. North and east Tamil peoples were fight against government for Tamil Elam. Because this is our land. We are living here in north and East provincials above 2000 years. Sinhalese came here in sri lanka after 7th century.

Eezham Tamils(Sri Lankan Tamils) are not Plantation Tamils(Indian Origin Tamils of Sri Lanka). Eezham Tamils are indigineous people of the Island predominantly live in Northern and Eastern provinces. Indian origin Tamils/ Plantation Tamils live in Central highlands.
6:50 you're wrong. There are three types of Tamil people in Srilanka. 1) The Tamil people who are the natives of the northern and eastern province. They are there from time immemorial. There are evidences that the section of these Tamils once followed Buddhism in northern province. They have strong connection with Cholas. They are predominantly Hindus and some follows Christianity. Theu form around 15% of Srilanka. 2) Srilankan Moors or Muslims also called as "Sonakar (സോണകർ)". They also speak Tamil language at home but identity themselves as Muslims first (diplomatic reason to safeguard them from Sinhalese facsicm). They form around 10% of Srilanka. 3) Tamils who were brought to Ceylon by British. They dwell mostly in central Srilanka. They're called as "Malayaka Tamizhar (മലയക തമിഴർ)". They form around less than 5%. Its only Sinhalese people who later came to the Island and formed a majority. So, factually speaking Tamils occupied the island before the Sinhalese. You can search the "arrival of King Vijaya Stamp" released (and later took back) by the Srilankan government itself. This substantiates that Sinhalese themselves have accepted they arrived after Tamils to the Ceylon island. If you off the camera personally ask the Karava caste ( one of the majority castes in Srilanka), traditionally fishing was their occupation, they will tell you history of Srilanka. And its not ഏലം.
