I see that you're using internal diameters for your lines. Does it mean that one has to be familiar with the pipes available on the market and their corresponding internal diameters?
@HydroinformaticsAcademy
@HydroinformaticsAcademy 2 года назад
Absolutely! Otherwise you might endup with wrong results!

Good,, hope after completing epanet course... You will go for Watergems
@HydroinformaticsAcademy
@HydroinformaticsAcademy 3 года назад
That's for sure! Infact i started with epanet because i believe its the foundation of other modeling software! So rest be assured that the next stop is going to be WaterGEMS!!

I think a piece of data missed either the well static water level & drawdown or the Dynamic water level from the pumping test report. and I think the aquifer elevation should be the level of the dynamic water level instead of the level of the pump set because the static head = Water level at the riser tank - Dynamic water level at the well. What do you think? Please clarify.
@HydroinformaticsAcademy
@HydroinformaticsAcademy 2 года назад
You are very right and agree with you it was a mistake! The static head for any submersible pump should be estimated from the Maximum drawdown point and not where the pump is installed! I don't remember well but I think I clarified it in the other pump tutorial! I will find a way to notify people about it either by writing about it in that video itself or writing it in the description box so that people can be aware of it!! Thank you so much for pointing it out and for the feedback as well🙏🙏

@@HydroinformaticsAcademy is it in this timestamp 12:47 ? What data should then be changed?
@HydroinformaticsAcademy
@HydroinformaticsAcademy 2 года назад
@@rcane6842 YES! the elevation data you need to insert at this timestamp is not elevation data on where the pump is installed but rather where the maximum drawdown point is located! so if elevation at pump intake is 1111m and elevation at max drawdown is 1130m then use 1130m! somewhere in the future, I will possibly create a tutorial to explain this issue!

Hello Sir, i have 1 question.im going to lay the pipe to my development where i have to tap from water main pipe in which the pressure at the water main is 20mHead. So, am i going to assume a reservoir as my tapping point or junction inside my simulation? Cause i need to know the residual pressure in my development area..
@HydroinformaticsAcademy
@HydroinformaticsAcademy 2 месяца назад
1. Because the dynamic pressure is known, i.e. 20mwc, then You can do two things: either you assume it is a junction or a tank with a minimum water level of 20m. I think the tank with the minimum water level of 20m will be the best idea because, when you design, the 20m will contribute directly to where you want to supply water (distribution side). IMO at the tapping point, assume it is a tank with minimum water level 20m and elevation at this tank should be the elevation at the tapping point. 2. The 2nd option is to take a portion that takes water to your tapping point. for example, if the source is the tank then in your model, make sure you are including the tank and a part of the pipe that takes water from the tank to where you want to tape your new network. 3. Apart from that, if you have time, you can get the whole network in EPAnet and then introduce your network. Essentially, with this approach, the benefit you will get is to know exactly how your new network will behave when connected to the existing network. Good luck.

Hi sir, do you still need to add pump curve if you input values in power in pump?
@HydroinformaticsAcademy
@HydroinformaticsAcademy 6 месяцев назад
It is not necessary because if we needed to use curves for calculation then we'd need it but for as long as we used power then there is no need!

When calculating the total riser tank elevation where/how did you get the 6m?
@klseabla5434
@klseabla5434 2 года назад
is the 6m the tank stand height?
@HydroinformaticsAcademy

Its been a while but as far as I can remenber that was riser tank stand/columns/ground to bottom slab height!

Actually I was about to cover that before the last tutorial i uploaded few days back (UTM data from google earth)! I will cover that one sometime in the future...🙏

Hello, I try to work network like yours, but the flow in my network shows negative values, What does it mean ??, distance is about 10km from the source to tank the topography has some hills along the way. source point at this elevation 1126.4m while the tank at 1186.6m Any explanation
@HydroinformaticsAcademy
@HydroinformaticsAcademy 3 года назад
Speaking of negative flow, do this... Right-Click "link/pipe" with the negative flow then click "reverse" then run your model again by clicking "run"! I hope it will be resolved! You can as well watch this tutorial: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-2YDpuUtuNdY.html

@@HydroinformaticsAcademy Thank you, but Any explanation you can give that why that happens ?? I reversed and it worked
@HydroinformaticsAcademy
@HydroinformaticsAcademy 3 года назад
I think its because you drew pipe/link in the direction which is opposite to the direction in which water flows.

Hellow engineer, I have the problem and I don’t know how to solve it. I try to run the system on epanet and I insert the flow of 3 .25 l/s on pump curve with the head of 135 every thing is oky bt the problem the flow on links and nodes it show that 0.00 And the setting on epanet is l/s
@HydroinformaticsAcademy
@HydroinformaticsAcademy 2 года назад
If you did not get any error after running your model then Check the units format that you are using and make sure the epanet is set to use the same settings! If you are using L/s then make sure you set L/s on epanet as well. NB: Check if you are running EPS as well, it might be your model is running at an hour with zero demand.
