I had no idea Lane Bryant had been around for so long! My mom loved their clothes back in the 60’s. Most clothes back then did not come in her size, 18-20. She always looked beautiful! Thanks again for another educational and enjoyable video❤❤❤

This catalog was so fun to look through. I especially loved the dresses with the beading & embroidery, absolutely beautiful! 😍 And the shoe designs were wonderful, I love how they designed the ankle straps. Thank you so much for sharing Katherine. I really enjoy looking through vintage & antique catalogs. 😊💕💕💕

Another, fantastic video. I love looking at vintage catalogs and fashion. Wow, did realize that Lane Bryant was that old. My mom loved shopping at this store

I had no idea Lane Bryant was around that long ago. I modeled for a LB store event back when I was a teen in the 80s. 🤓😁 even though most of their clothing wasn’t focused on teen tastes and boy was that tough for me back then. (Finding clothes in my size that didn’t look like grandma clothes). Katherine thank you for sharing these items and info with us. “Stout” 😳

Thanks so much for sharing this! I'll be going to a Gatsby themed party later in the year so I've been looking into 1920s fashion and to actually see some genuinely plus sized outfits is so wonderful! All the costumes I've found are too small for me even though they're supposedly plus sized and are way too fitted for the era so I've been thinking of sewing my own...a terrifying prospect! Looking at these however is really inspiring. Perhaps if I don't sew from scratch I could repurpose a kaftan & cut it down & add appropriate trims & beads etc...Hmm lots to think about! I agree with you that the hats are divine. I would love, love, LOVE to find a genuine one (they'd probably cost a fortune though so I'd probably have to settle for a reproduction). The shoes are also just gorgeous! Watch out vintage stores here I come!

Yes! I think you will come up with something perfect. Nicole Rudolf did some interesting 1920s outfits for a capsule wardrobe that might give you some inspiration.

Hey, this was such a neat thing to see. Thanks for sharing this, and thanks for the history. Lena Bryant was probably an interesting and driven woman. Wouldn't it be great to see a vintage plus size catalogue with multiple skin tones?

Diversity in skin color in antique and vintage advertising is so hard to find! I will keep a look out for sure. As much as I love all my vintage ephemera I recognize the diversity isn’t there and we can do better now and should do better now. I bet she was an amazing lady. She saw a need and fulfilled it!

Nice work...great vid. When I was a kid my mom shopped for me at the "chubby" kids section at Lane Bryant on Fifth.... Romans was another plus sized department store in that area. Shopping hell. Interesting content.👍

My great grandmother was a larger woman and I imagine her looking through this…however idk if country folk ever got a hold of something like this.

They probably sewed their own! My family was very large on both sides and all of them were rural and still clothed. And some of their clothing was cute!
