This was awesome! While we were getting a tour of another facility, one of the people that was on the tour brought up that their neighbor had a very old elevator in their house. After a couple of messages, the neighbor welcomed us to see his amazing vintage elevator in his amazing vintage house!

I have a similar elevator in a Victorian house we purchased. It's nice to see another one in operation.

My wife and I have a ca. 1960 Inclinator Elevette in our home which has identical controls and gate. The car is also virtually the same, but ours has perforated walls on control and back side. It also has two scissors doors as it comes down in the middle of the hallway. The lift motor is identical to that as well. Nice video!

We have the exact same one and the cables needed to be rewound. This video is awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

These are so dangerous. Seeing that gap between the doors gives me so much anxiety especially after what just happened in North Carolina. Please be careful, especially with that little boy around.

That’s crazy unsafe that the door opens like that when the elevator is up, how do you prevent someone being crushed with a system like that? Like if someone pushed down while someone’s trying to get to the basement

The 'elevator shaft' is really just a stairwell down to the basement; and the bottom of the cab (you can see at 4:09) is a pad that acts as a sensor. When it gets pushed in (by someone's head), it'll stop the elevator.
