Hi Fabio. We're happy to see your appreciation of the tank. When it comes to fertilizers, we experiment until we reach the perfect blend; values change as we start introducing shrimp, fish or different types of plants. We base our method on a trial and error / lean approach to best feed the plants without risking promoting algae.

You're running two co2 diffusers but how large are your co2 canisters in litres? And how often does it get depleted with bubbles running at 12 BPS in a single tank? Asking the question because I'm thinking of running a co2 system on my 180-gallon aquarium.
@TropicaAquariumPlants
@TropicaAquariumPlants 3 года назад
Hi Teo. We have a CO2 line linked to a ginormous outdoor CO2 canister (about 10 tons); maybe a bit excessive for your setup. You'll have to look into some industrial grade canister as well if you want to properly fuel the tank for a longer period of time.

Seriously, I don't think you will ever hear me say a planted tank is perfect. This one is perfect. Must be a special day. So write today's date in your diary with a gold marker, buy a lottery ticket, go for that sex change surgery. This time I've been brought to a true limit of the planted tank hobby. Not joking. Because what else could be there? What we see is Nature contained, but Nature contained not looking contrived. Those plants, man... How does such a seemingly casually setup tank work so well? Maybe because there are no set rules, no pretense. It feels both "amazingly beautiful" as Raj said and liberating somehow. Only thing I do not understand - that big Lace. If this thing feels great the leaves shoot 4-5 foot long, easily. Years ago I gave one to my neighbor and also made him a killer strong T5 light. His first planted tank ever. 2 months later he rings my door bell and stands there holding his hand high above his head Lace hanging to the ground. Roots and all. Guy is 6 ft tall. He goes "Take it. I can't have this in my tank. Too big." Maybe what we see in the video is the secret Dwarf Tropica Madagascar Lace. But also this maybe just a question of careful fertilization. Back then 10 years ago I had my neighbor do EI. The Lace's leaves were all kinds of color - copper, yellow, crimson, dark green, light green. The Lace on the video is just green. To me that is not its full potential. I'm sure they do not overload the water with fertilizers. Here! I found something wrong with the best looking planted tank I've seen for 42 years in this hobby!
@TropicaAquariumPlants
@TropicaAquariumPlants 3 года назад
Wow, thank you for your thoughtful assessment and for sharing your lace story; the madagascariensis is indeed a bit of a gamble, some grow bigger, some are thinner and some might just turn rainbow mode on. We took it out as it started shadowing the plants growing underneath, thus in the next update we'll finally get to see what was hiding under the big lace tree. Best of luck in your aquatic endeavors and hope to see you in the next video!

@@TropicaAquariumPlants Thank you. Listen - post a video of how you start a tank and keep it free of algae. There is no such video on the internet from any pro outfit or an individual , literally not a single one. There isn't a single person in this hobby that does not kill themselves working in the first 2 months or so to keep the tank algae free or close to algae free. Usually the need for regular maintenance is endless - the tank never really matures. That is about as far from Nature as we can get - make pretty tank with your own constant efforts. I have a method to keep tanks completely algae free (like scrubbed clean) or clean existing algae ridden tanks in about 4 weeks to an extreme state of cleanliness and stability. The method it is not easily replicated - but mainly because of people's mentality. As I type I have a tank that for 40 days now has had super strong light (PAR 300 at the surface, 100 at the bottom), light period 12-14 hours a day, only two tiny water changes (15%) in 40 days and brand new ADA Amazonia that leeches Ammonia to hell and back. Zero algae. Just pearling plants. Done 4 tanks like that this year. Posting a video about how to do that from someone unknown is pointless. Especially if the advice is not already well popular already. Please post a video about how you keep algae away in a brand new tank in the first 2 moths. There will be an immense interest. You will instantly gain both followers and customers. Try and see.

I spotted one freshwater hydra on the Kedagang. Destroyed the whole look of the aquarium. You are going to have to pick up your game ,Tropica.😁 Now you have me thinking of trying C.parva. I think I was growing something very similar in the 80's/90's. Very stiff growth,like plastic..but grew fine,algae resistant. I think my low tech aquarium is not best for stem plants,but the perennials,mosses and ferns do well.

Wow. My dream aquarium is 3 meters long, 0.8 meters deep and 0.6 meters high. I made a simulation and only the glass would weight 500kilos. My design would be with some big branches of wood going way above the water, with some combination of terestrial and aquatic moss on them and a lot of plants. It would probably cost around 15.000 euros to get it done. Only have to swap my apartment for a house and i'm in business. ✌🏻😁
