Epic Agates, Ammonite Clusters, & an Insane TSA! Phenomenal Rock Hunt on the Yellowstone River!

In this one, we look back at a hunt from way back in May that I never got around to posting! This was our last hunt on the Yellowstone before runoff hit, and My GOSH was it a fantastic hunt! We found big beautiful agates, rainbow jaspers, gorgeous agatized wood, the nicest Treasure State Agate I've ever seen, and a bunch of colorful baculites, a concretion filled with beautiful ammonites! We found a little bit of everything! After the hunt, we head back to the shop to prep the fossils and get good closeups of our finds! I hope you all enjoy this one, and I'll have another one out very soon!

A long thank you. I just subbed, belled, commented, and will share. I love rocks and happy people! I am not sure if you hear this very often but, thank you for letting this old lady live vicariously through you. I was a rock hound since six years before the first moon landing. Now, I can't stand in one place for more than twenty seconds before creating pain that can take hours, if not days to make it go away. As an artist, making things beautiful to funny, sculptures to painting on feathers, leather work to extreme antique and ancient bead jewelry, I can't hardly make a smile let alone making the things that bring me happiness. So, my time on YT is about remembering what I love, watching other people get the same pleasure I did in my lifetime. So, thank you! Thank you for doing what I can't. Actually you do two things I can't, I have stage fright so bad I stutter when leaving a recorded message on a phone call! I would love to teach others about what I know. I have had a wildly interesting life. Tragedy to bottom line funny as hell, my life has been a pendulum and I am not one to ignore the lessons. I wish I could pass them on and touch lives again. You see, at one point I owned a pool hall and got to get into the minds and lives of many kids and a good few dozen adults. I taught when asked about stuff they couldn't talk to anyone else about. It seems the only time I can really share is when someone needs me. The stories I have can make the hair on the back of your neck stand up. Some of the stories are so graphic I couldn't tell them on YT and others are so sweet they would give you cavities just to hear them. Thank you for all that you do with bringing back some joy to this homebound, broke down, in a night gown old lady!

You and Alexis are so fun together! And Alexis finds so of the best rocks! And Wow! That is the nicest TSA ive seen! Way to go Alexis! Those concretions were loaded and wonderful! My goodness! The ammonites and baculites are amazing! Some of my favorites are all the pet wood! That huge one with the quartz pocket and is so agatized, its gorgeous! My favorite is the TSA! Its so beautiful and the forts are amazing! The color and quarts center are just phenomenal! it deserves just to be polished whole! its a beautiful specimen! Thanks for the great video!

I was at Cold Lake alberta and found a couple agate, a peachy-tan petrified wood pebble and a fossil impression of shell, so exciting to find cool stuff in small glacial till!!

Am lovin' the clean gravel 😛 I like checking the ground everytime you pick one up. The colors (ignored) sometimes I want to check out. Road trip/bucket list, hopefully in a year. On the agate, cut in half? Looks like quartz curled over the end. Inside may surprise us.

In spite of that spectacular TSA that Alexis found, my fave would have to be that crazy wood with the quartz pocket. I'm glad that your are going to polish the TSA whole, it's too dang pretty the way that it is to cut. I'm also very glad that you got out to hunt before the torrential rains hit, but can't wait to see your first video after the flooding!

I am an inspiring Rockhound from Nc and was just wondering besides potato skin with pitting and translucent when light is applied what are the characteristics i can look for 2 find agates. I wish I lived out that way because y’all find the most amazing beautiful rocks!! I will search for hours and never find not 1!!

I love some info on where to go and what I need to do ..I want to visit yellowstone. But I don't know where to start.. what side to go to what state to enter from the most cost friendly.. if I fly instead of drive is there like transportation ... I'm a rock addict!!! Theo Kellison, Theo Kellison, Theo Kellison! Your name just rolls of the tongue...LOL Awesome video loved everything really hard to pick, however that crazy banded agate is pretty neat. Have a question; My wife is a teacher in middle school and she is doing rocks and minerals currently, are any of those, or other fossils available to purchase from you? If so I'll send you a dm on you IG page..If not then thanks for sharing them. I'm in SoCal and our best stuff is in the desert and its dangerously hot out there, so as I wait for cooler months I get my rock addiction fix watching your's and others like MRM's, till it cools here. Want to do a road trip to Montana so badly right now.....

What are you using for an air scribe? The kids and I found some ammonites and a bunch of massive clams while searching for Fairburn agates and was looking to get an air scribe to clean them up.
