One question, if let's say one of the sides does get overwhelmed by the weight of the opponent by using the support of Giant/Mage/Cavalry what's the best way to protect your archers and your king before the men on different sides reinforce the broken line?
And mages should never get close if you have multiple archer legions. Only use archers on giants of they attack early and you don't have weaker targets
I hated that formation because of the easy way in which people won, but after a while I realized that it is very easy to counter it and it becomes obsolete, I still hate it
@@leifjorgenhansen1304 Use heavy units to be able to receive the arrows, and try to use dragon, if you don't have one, use magicians, cavalry and bows, just that, the heavy units in front to receive the arrows, but Not many, the cavalry uses it to surround the four corners of the square from afar, and the archers in encirclement mode shooting at a single unit of enemy archers and when it dies, at another, just When the archers are weakened, advance with the infantry in front and all the cavalry use it to completely surround the back of the square and charge, I put the infantry to attack and the magicians Surround the flanks
@@leifjorgenhansen1304 That is the difficult one, the second would be to put many units on you to surpass him in numerical quantity and stay on your side of the map without moving, since the enemy has fewer units, if time runs out You win by numerical amount if he doesn't move, or he advances by not losing and you can simply surround him
I use eight dwarf archer legions. I usually feign retreat to force a calvary charge or I will make it to the side and work my way towards enemy with back to proverbial wall. When I do it right, it's just about unstoppable
I also like to charge in a disorganized fashion to lull enemy into false sense of safety and form up just as they get into range. If they bring up archers, so do i
Heres some tips that may help you related to this: + Cavalry gets less likely to get hit from arrows when they keep moving full speed + Dont let enemy archers focus there attack at one spot. + Pure Infantry, heavy inf, and even Giant is always a bad match up against this formation + More archers = More long range superiority + Dragons. Yeah dragons for obvious reasons
@@MystofErious thanks for the information, but during those times when I in counter a shiltron I have few archers those times and my formation was like a hammer and anvil something like that, and I don't charge to my energy I just stay until the game ended
@@Y14H515 Actually, hammer and anvil tactic does work in this but only a certain style of it. Most good players I fight uses this tactic against me but only one type of it almost beat me If he didnt become too confident on his knights cause my archers got exposed, I would have lose to him already
@@Y14H515 Also I found someone who almost beat the schiltron, although its a smaller one, but still good. Fight is super close ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-CNuHGYaMvrE.html
I have beaten this Formation Once Just By Doing what Lord Wellington does Retreat a Couple Paces But this Formation have cavarly So i lured the enemy cavarly and use my much stronger Cavarly with archer range protection and beat their cavarly And using the time limit to win since because i avoid seeking glory by sending all my men in a huge square formation with a bunch of enemy archer ahead Of course I am not sending my men to get picked off one by one
Basically i use the Waiting game until the Enemy cant take it anymore and attack me first Since this type of Attack and Formation in order to win is by whoever attack first But i did not attack first time instead wait for him to attack me and i got them running
