Everyone is so critical of the money spent, of Alexandra's ideas, etc. And aIl I'll say is (1) She added legit an armchair, desk chair, solid shelf, new lighting, and and new bedding to the space; and (2) She built and designed things in a really cute way that tons of people just don't know how to do. There's a reason it looks easy, and it's because she makes the process look easy. This process is worth it.
Don't you love it when you go shopping in your own home and by just swapping this for that and that for this it looks and feels like you spent a fortune. Thanks for making it look so good and easy to do.
Lots of great ideas in this makeover - thanks for sharing. I agree w/other comments that this looks a lot like Alexandra making over someone else's space in her (oft-repeated) style, but I don't think that's because it's all she can do. I think it's because the homeowner was attracted to Alexandra's style & wanted her makeover to have elements of A's style - the pink & gold touches in mostly white room, lots of natural textures (wood shelf, basket, etc.) It's beautiful.
I love the binder clip hack for home office art...I also really love how the simple shifts of furniture really created a super cohesive vibe, like the white side table next to the bed...it's perfect.
I think the overall look is so cute! I know $400 sounds like a lot (me too) but when you are doing a complete look, it's really not bad. I spent $80 doing a DIY on my coffee table recently and that is ONE piece. If I were redoing the entire room, imagine. That's my opinion. Also, I think the layering rug idea is genius. Rugs are hella expensive. May have to try this.
I loved this! You did a fantastic job. So happy she loved it. Just a few thoughts - with the extra $, I might have changed out/altered the trim on the windows, and doors/baseboards if possible. Wide trim always feels luxurious and cozy. It can be put up with liquid nails or caulk if necessary or you can use small pieces of carpet tape or removable glue dots. A ledge on the window-sill is also cozy and can be put up with shelf brackets. If the existing trims can’t be removed from doors, etc., small decorative strips can be added. It won’t add as much width as a wider board would, but will still add a little extra to the room. Baseboards added in front of existing ones create a channel in which cords/ light-strips can live. Make a frame for the outlet behind the desk out of shims, for pennies. Again, add a bit of trim (dollhouse trim or jewels from hobby lobby) for an unexpected touch. I’ve also painted plastic covers with a design, then hot-glued painted wood balls at the top and bottom, hanging miniature tassels from the bottom balls. Now I’m off to binge-watch the rest of your channel. Regards, Linda
Hey Alexandra! Great project love the transformation! Here's a great tip for you regarding your power cords on lamps and pendants etc. Out of the box they are always kinky, which looks "unfinished". To combat this, take a hair dryer on a hot heat setting and "blow dry the cord once it's hung. This will heat up the material just enough to soften all the kinks and straighten the cord. If you are brave (and careful) enough to handle a heat gun, this works especially well. Hope this helps! L
I love the changes without actually having to go out and buy all new furniture, most people can’t afford that immediately but still want to improve their space. I think the only thing I would have done differently was put the small round table next to the bed as a nightstand and the laptop stand (I know it’s called that because I have it) next to the desk for more space. It’s just more office-y.
She got so much hate for no reason... I think she called It off... Makes me Sad, cause I love her style... If you don't like her style and prefer other yt... Leave and let her do her job for the ones that like it
what's the problem with negativity if it constructive criticism? Most of these people aren't being vindictive and I don't see any death threats. I totally hear you, negativity can be excessive, but so can positivity if there's something wrong and it never gets fixed because no one said anything. I'm glad you liked the video, I like it to even though I don't "love it". Have a good day, bless you.
@@kaseyd264 I agree :) ! However I do think there is a difference between "your videos suck" and "I don't think that color matches this other one". Also I don't think negativity always takes the form of death threats haha
You have a great mind for making over looks like any kind of room on a budget. And I have been in my apt for amost 1 1/2 yr & have all sorts of wall decor which I haven't hung up for years. I was going to put them in a garage sale but I think I will start hanging up to make my rooms pop with more colors than black & this color & that. I am happy that I ran across your videos they are smart cute ideas for anyone. By the way, I love your bloopers and you are cute & a cute smile & laugh. Keep up the great work & making people happy on a budget.
The rearrangement of the furniture really made the bedroom look more sophisticated, more professional... should pod cast guests be interviewed live. The placement of some of the furniture from the bedroom to the living room also improved the look of the living room.
Love your style Alexandra!! I've just bought my own little studio flat and as I'm decorating i have your RU-vid channel on in the background keeping me company and giving me inspiration 😍💜😍💜😍💜😍💜😍
Alexandra! I've been bingeing your videos and love how obtainable and easy your tips and tweaks are. So much fun and adapatable for any style. Wishing I wasn't so far away as I too am a pompom fan. Thank you for sharing!
Loving the color palette! Soft rose, whites and sky blue are my favourites too 😄 I watched almost all of your videos and I think you make a great interior designer! In fact, when I try to watch other channels, I miss your energy and creativity. No one is perfect, but I really like what you bring to this world. Thank you for inspiring me 💕
How’d you spend all that money when you just rearranged everything and added a few things? Also, those pieces of art really don’t go with the room. They’re really expensive, too.
With a budget this small there isn't much that can be done so the way is to repurpose what she already had and make little tweaks here and there. Small details make a huge difference.
Jonique Perzentka my thoughts exactly. I would’ve been pissed if my friend rearranged my room and I asked her so where’s the new stuff and it cost her close to $400. I like the makeover but not the unnecessary stuff she bought
It’s beautiful and I like the way you explain. But why poms poms always. Come on! There are so many design elements you can play with. And it would be nice if you can tell what is the client’s taste. Adds a bit more info as to why you choose some things. And why not repaint one side of the wall maybe. I love the changes but could have been more warmer. Love your channel. Keep them coming :).
Mr.kate does under $350 makeovers and it includes painting the area and bringing in actual new stuff and she had god damn $500 and wasnt able to buy a new wall plug case
I'm subscribed to mr. Kate and she has had makeovers where she reused alot of the existing furniture and thrifted/diy alot of stuff. So it's not like the stuff is new it's used.
Cliff Tan of Dear Modern would have cows over that bed being right in the doorways. Also: At the very least, you need an anchor in the plaster for the cuphook in the ceiling
WOW so well done!! Love LOVE your style! Please ignore the comments below. These negative people will never be happy with anything and only find faults and errors that do not exist! ***Therefore, Missy keep up the great work that you're so good at (very talented!).
I was wondering about pendant lights, could the electrical cords be wrapped in let's say a hockey tape? If the electrical cord was the same color as the ceiling for example, it would be less noticeable. Or maybe, it could be covered with the type of covering that can be used on wall sconces electrical cords? Alternatively, the electrical cord could be painted? As for placing a carpet over another, it is a nice idea but could be a tripping hazard. I suggest using ways to secure the carpets to the floor with some type of adhesive to keep them stable.
Maggie 123 that’s what I took away from this video, and this is my opinion. I didn’t comment so you can agree or disagree, because I don’t care what you think. keep it pushing sweetie and go troll another bitch.
